Zach taking off his glasses, handing them off to Keith, then taking a pair of more thick-rimmed and serious glasses out of his pocket to put them on was THE comedy bit of the episode!!! Since the new era I feel like Zach has been getting funnier and funnier, just goes to show how important a positive workplace atmosphere is!
For real! I completely agree with this, everything is so much better and positive and amazing now 💕 I'm so happy for the guys and all the others that are getting into the spotlight!

@@jessj2530 It's possible that the stress of being in a without-a-recipe video just wiped his brain. I certainly struggle to remember steps when I'm stressed and on the clock, a lot of people do actually, like when you're taking a math test in high school. You can study and prepare for something very thoroughly, but when adrenaline hits you, it's like you're hit by that memory deleter from Men In Black.
@@gabiluch87 Stress and adrenaline CAN make you forget everything you've learned. It's why studying for math tests never worked for me, I'd get comfortable with the material but once the test started and I was on the clock, it's like I hadn't studied at all. I think that's what happened with Kwesi here.

@@eggansmile he may have worked his more than Keith did, so the warmth from his hands when rolling it out caused the butter to heat up and it started the proof warmer than Keith’s. Also an oven’s heat isn’t always even, you can have warmer colder pockets-even if the oven isn’t on-unfortunately where he put them was probably just a tad warmer

I’m so proud of Zach that he’s actually guiding Kwesi through things a little. He knew what xanthan gum did, he knew to involve yeast, he knew that the butter needed to be in one piece and I’m so proud!

The fact that Kwesi's wife won an award for her croissants and she is still married to him after this episode shows she is a woman of patience and has a sense of humour.

Im a professional ballroom dancer/teacher, when I got married my husband and I practiced for months to be ready for the wedding dance .

Honestly one of my fav parts of the episode was seeing their faces when Keith started giving his presentation, the head in the hands bit was amazing.
I was actually surprised he chose daddy's favorite yet again, so when he announced it I laughed so hard

Can we all just appreciate Jared being such a good sport for doing something he's never done before with little knowledge about the field, knowing he'll be judged for it? He's such a great sport, it's not easy to do. Love this series, as always!🎉
and he’s doing it well too. like he did the correct process to get there, just the proofing went wrong. I felt really bad for him at that point 😭 for somebody who hadn’t ever baked before the show it’s genuinely impressive what he achieved

The first few seasons were Eugene and Keith going “Zach no” and now it’s Zach going “Kwesi No”

When Keith asked what's a flavor that hasn't been done with Croissants, I was scared he was gonna say soup. I am traumatized from the macaron episode lmao
Kwesi's red spots has perfectly presented why foodpackages comes with warnings of 'risk of traces of X'. If something else is made in the factory, a small lapse in care/cleaning will risk cross contamination. And even if everything is totally separated, human error is a powerful thing.
My favourite thing about this season is Jared starting each episode terrified and ending it just completely surprised and elated he managed to make the thing
Not just make the thing, make the thing and have it be edible.
I love Keith realizing he needed yeast because Jared’s smelled better. Like he IS a baker
No because there as so many recipes I could tell I made wrong because it didn’t smell how the recipe sounded like it should have smelled. Smell is really one of our most valuable and used senses and it’s kind of amazing how much information we can glean with it without even realizing.
When Keith was like “how does it get so much air in the middle?! It’s not yeast” and I was like “wait, what it’s absolutely yeast wtf Keith”

I remember a documentary type video about how Victorian bakers added weird ingredients to flour to make more money, but in a demo lineup of bread loaves, the video host was able to pick out the undoctored loaf by SMELLING them. Your comment made me realize how vital that sense of smell is for baking.

Rewatching this and I just want to say that my 93 year old French grandma LOVED your show on food network. She’s house bound due to illness and how old she is and she would record your show and watch it over. I go over and watch them with her, she doesn’t have internet so she was thrilled there was more episodes on TH-cam and she’s even more happy this year with the new rotation of the cast and it’s really nice to see. Thanks ❤
It's really such a shame that he-who-shall-not-be-named ruined their Food Network show for them. I remember hearing all of the promotions and getting excited, not just to watch but also excited for them and the recognition that the show would bring. But I remember the talk about whole episodes being cut and parts of the episodes being scraped and promotion basically ended after the whole scandal and I feel so bad for the guys because of that lost opportunity.
Yeah and not only is it a lost opportunity, but the likelihood of future opportunities is highly unlikely now because if you have one “failed” food network show (by no fault of the 3 remaining try guys) it’s unlikely you’ll be given the opportunity for another food show, let alone any other cable network show. Really couldn’t have happened at a worst time. 😢 But I’m glad they’re still doing WAR because I love this show format and look forward to it every year! ❤

I know everyone's saying it, but the attitude and atmosphere on this season of Without a Recipe is just SO much healthier and also a lot easier to watch. I love that they're all genuinely cheering each other on, and Jared is CRUSHING it - he was so, so close this time, especially with the layers and folding early on.
I tried to watch stuff from before last year and I now know why I never liked WAR before. Last year was the first year I made it through the whole season and bought the tickets. I like things a lot better now.

I REALLY hope Kwesi and Jared continue guest-starring in WAR they both bring such amazing energy and you can tell they are SUCH good friends with the rest of the guys. Kwesi has been an absolute delight since he first started appearing in Try Guys videos and WAR is my first time having the delight of watching Jared joining in the fun and his humor and joy are both so infectious!

Did this video just hit different for anyone else? I’ve really been missing the vibe of old try guys videos, and haven’t been able to enjoy much content in the last 1-2 years. This one just made me so happy

Baking soda: makes desserts dense
Baking powder: makes desserts rise

That depends on the ingredients and isn't quite correct. Baking powder contains I think ~a third baking soda. But in order to act as a leavening agent, baking soda has to react with something acidic. So acidic ingredients are added to that third of baking soda that is in baking powder. Baking soda works just as well as baking powder to make desserts rise - if there is something acidic in the dough/batter to react with. Like lemon or fruits or yoghurt. The problems start when that's not the case. Like in a croissant...
I love how happy Jared is just so happy make something edible and get anything other than 4th place. When he said “My mom’s never gonna believe this!” was so cute.

I think he accidentally made the best dough for this reason. Because he was rushed, he didn't have a chance to overwork his dough like the rest of the guys!
Yes!! And impressive!! He just smelled Jared's and said oh no, this smells like a croissant. And he just eyeballed the thing in 7 minutes!! I bake basic sponge cake to take with me for work and that takes me like 15 minutes to whip up and it's the easiest thing to do and he just figured out the recipe of croissants, which are soooo hard to make, by accident?! Not to mention Jared is like a child cooking and he managed to make the most beautiful croissants and they had the best crunch!! I feel so proud of them, as if I made these croissants.
I’m so impressed by Jared literally his second time ever baking and he got 2nd and it wasn’t even too bad. I hope he does some baking with a recipe in the future because he could do great things!!

@@sarafontanini7051 Nah, I just think that between the actual dye and the hot cheeto dust it acted like glitter when he was dusting the croissants. I.e. it got EVERYWHERE and is gonna pop up randomly for months no matter how much you clean 😂
@@sarafontanini7051If you've ever worked with red food coloring and/or powdery substances you know it will go everywhere no matter how much you try to clean. Besides, there was absolutely no impact on others' products other than the color, it was just a fun joke. It's really not that deep and I'm pretty sure they have a whole crew helping with cleaning anyway.

Highlights were Keith's slow realization he needed yeast, Zach slowly taking off his glasses and Keith going along with it, Kwesi's slow desent into madness, and Jared's celebration at the end :)

Yeah, Jared and Qwesi bring such fun energy to the show. Both don't know shit about baking. The only difference is Jared plays things safely while also being adorable while Qwesi's an agent of chaos.
I also think this is the best WAR season ever. Last week's episode (Oreos) may be my favorite of all time.

One of my favorite things about Without a Recipe is when the professional says you should never do something and you just see them all doing that exact thing lmao.
I especially love it when the product actually still turns out good like theirs generally did despite the baking soda. It kinda tests the limits of these age old recipes and proves that things can be tweaked and still go well.
Just want to add that when Zack says "Merci beaucoup" (thanks a lot) during his presentation, he actually pronunces it "Merci beau cul", which literally means "Thank you nice ass" and I think that's beautiful

I genuinely love how Jared is just so thrilled to have made something passable without a recipe. It's HARD and you have to be insane to try and insanely skilled to pass, so props to them all for even doing it
Watching the tri guys evolve after the whole incident has been so amazing! It just feels like a more positive environment and the guys are just 3 extremely positive and rooting for each other each step of the way! Before it felt like a certain someone was being too… competitive to say the least. They all want each other to succeed and celebrate each others victories ❤️

I love that instead of rage of losing, everyone in every episode is cheering for Jared, I really love the positivity shown throughout this season and that the competition aspect of this show is more fun rather than tension based which how it was in the previous without a recipe shows.
With the red one, there's much less combative competitive energy. Eugene is content being artistic (and better than everyone else) and our soft soy boys are just thriving. ❤❤❤

Jared and Kwesi make an amazing addition to the Try Guys. With Eugene working on his projects (a major achievement). I wouldn’t mind if they were a permanent fixture to the channel.
