Kamienica is an old type of no longer being developped kind of brick and stone based (hence the name, kamien=stone, kamienica=house of stone) living quarters, in most cities they were phased out and replaced by concrete buildings or if not they were renovated and modernized inside with only outside and the core of the building left intact (sometimes only outside look left for aesthetics). Non-renovated kamienica buildings are often associated with low income low class people because their upkeep is low cost due to general lack of modernized infrastructure (they are rare cases, but they still exist, and some tenants upgrade their individual flats as they can over time with some workarounds).

Great question! I am not sure, but you can always go on job boards online or ask your professors at university. I know translation jobs are a good option for students!
We only paid first month + security deposit for our current place! But we also went through an agency - it may differ if you rent from a private owner.
Yes, you can buy apartments here, but it's getting really expensive. It seems the average price -- unfinished -- starts around 16k PLN per square meter, and only goes up from there. I just saw a few apartments for sale: 100 sq meters starting at 1.3 million PLN.
Honestly a lot more than 1.3 million PLN. I'm looking at a lot of apartment around 60 to 70 sq meters (which is way less than 1000 sq feet) and they are closer to 1.4 to 1.8 when somewhat close to the city center. People in Poland do not live in apartments bigger than 500/600 sq feet.
@@juliusseizures5931 You can look around on Otodom.pl - they may have some options. You can also join some Krakow Expat Facebook groups and ask around there.
Good morning Beautiful Sarah.l need l room apartment for l person in Krakow .Can you help me through a website to get. Thank you very much. Love your video
Yeah, but I don’t think this thumbnail is showing an appartnment building in Poland. It looks like Ukraine / Russia / Romania. The building owner in Poland, especially in Kraków, would get into problems if they’d allow such sh** balcony’s. You also don’t see that many satelite dishes over here since 1990. I think there’s a law in Kraków preventing the pollution of architecture. I asume you’ve intended to get some clicks with that?
Sarah, have you been following your fellow Cracovian Nynke's (The Writing Traveler) trek along the almost-entire Polish coast (370 km) on foot? She's amazing. :)
lots of love from Poland
Thanks for watching!
Sarah, you look so much prettier when you pronounce Kraków the Polish(ed) way😉
Thank you. Very informative. Krakow is 3rd most expensive city in Poland.
yes, it's definitely super pricey these days! Glad you found it helpful!

Otodom (allegro) is also good place, i think gumtree was shut down recently? In August when I was renting apartment website doesnt work anymore
Allegro - is that the one with the old Polish grandpa in the commercial? I saw that at least a few years ago and then again recently.
Cool video, the most popular site in PL when it comes to properties (rent/buy) is otodom.
Thanks for adding that!
jest nasza słodka i piękna Sara 😊
pozdrawiam w nowym roku ☺
dzięki 💕

In America when you rent an apartment you pay for the first month, last month, and a security deposit. How is it in Poland?
We only paid first month + security deposit for our current place! But we also went through an agency - it may differ if you rent from a private owner.
@@SarahAchleithner Thanks for the reply! 😊 ...how big is the usual security deposit in Poland? Is it equal to a month worth of rent?
@@solaries8185 Yes, the security deposit is usually a month's rent!
can you suggest me some websites where I can find some good flats
you can look on otodom.pl, gumtree and Hamilton May!
So you don’t have to provide a proof of income like in the States?
We never had to!
Can you buy and apartment in Poland? Like a condominium. What would be the average price for a 1000 square foot apartment with 2 bath? 🤔

@@andrewkrawczyk9476 yeah it's crazy how expensive it is. Prices range a lot!
Are they month to month
@juliusseizures5931 yes they can be month to month or you may need to sign a year lease. Just depends on the landlord!
@@SarahAchleithner do you happen to know any solid places with furnished units month to month ? I’m visiting for like a month or so

Wow that's amazing! I haven't followed but I need to check it out.
Honestly, the "Where to find apartments" is the only worth information, no need to waste your time for 13 minutes... No hate, just observation
apartaments are expensive in poland for poland people but not for americans
The best place to find an apartament is OTODOM then Olx ... than maybe Facebook market. And that's it.
thanks for your input!
