First of all, I respect & love Ed's RC flying innovations. He is still my favorite. There are major differences between Ed's wing & this one. You are missing the main purpose of this wing build. 1. In some countries Foamboard (Dollar tree board ) isn't available. So this is for those who only have styrofoam to work with. 2. I have used styrofoam. Which doesn't bend like foamboard. 3. Taping orientation is vertical not horizontal along the wing. If its horizontal, styrofoam breaks while bending. 4. Taping is done both inside & outside which is not necessary for foamboard but compulsory for styrofoam to bend. 5. Actually I may be the first one to bend styrofoam like this to make an airfoil. 6. This is an semi-symmetrical airfoil whereas Ed's airfoil is clark Y ( Flat Bottom ) airfoil.
This idea of taping & bending styrofoam is my original idea & randomly appeared in my head. And before commenting on my decency, first clear your knowledge. Its not "Experimental Airways". Its Ed from "Experimental Airlines". Peace . Happy Flying..
This is a great help, ill try your technique using styrofoam since we have no foam board available at our locality but we have plenty of styrofoam.. Thanks a lot, sir amit..
wonderful! but since Maharashtra has banned all this material... what are the chances we can do it with something else as a replacement to Styrofoam....
Amit - please explain - in your comment you said 6. This is an semi-symmetrical airfoil whereas Ed's airfoil is clark Y ( Flat Bottom ) airfoil. I can not see any difference in your wing shape and Ed's. I am more interested in control, stability and aerobatics than speed. please help me understand what is different about your wing. Did you just bend the leading edge up a little when you bent it back to get a bullet type shape ?
symmetrical airfoil has curve on both upper & lower half of airfoil whereas flat bottom has no curve on bottom half of airfoil as the name suggest. My wing has curve on both sides because I used styrofoam. If you use foamboard & implement taping horizontally, you can get flat bottom airfoil ( armin wing) shown by Ed. I am no expert at airfoil & aerodynamics but this is my thought - Flat bottom airfoil might be better for slow speed, more lift, stability, mild aerobatics. whereas symmetrical airfoil is better for high speed, more aerobatics but has less lift & stability. Anyone with good knowledge, experience can correct me on this if I am wrong. I hope I have answered your queries...)
@@AmitWagh Amit, thank you very much for taking the time to help me. I think I understand - its the styrofoam - and taping method that result in your wing shape. I'll review the video and study the details. Your video and teaching are excellent and help me with some things I did not understand. May your skies be blue and your winds calm.

Can you please provide more data of Aircraft like it's weight, wing area and MTOW. Thank you
Nice work.

Thanks a lot, sir amit..
✌👍..don't call me sir..I am your friend..🙂
There's quite a bit of tape on both sides. Will it be too heavy for flight?
Good keep it up
Looking forward to seeing the plane with this.
Hello sir, I have a question. Do I need to calcute where I need to do the thickness spot and how thick do I need to do it?
Maximum thickness can be kept at a spot (from the leading edge) length equal to 25% of the total chord length.
Hi, is this styrofoam same as depron? (got from rc vortex)
No it's different than depron
wonderful! but since Maharashtra has banned all this material... what are the chances we can do it with something else as a replacement to Styrofoam....
Cardboard can be used instead..
But it will be heavier than this.

Glad it helped. Thanks for motivation.✌
@@AmitWagh at 10:40 - how wide to cut the formers for this 5" wing ?
1 inch 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch ?
1 inch.
What is the thickness of the styrofoam used here ? Also can you share a link of the black packing tape that you used here . Thanks in advance
5mm. I had bought tape from local stationery shop.
Amit where can I get the foam sheets. I'm from Tamilnadu. Any online stores available pls suggest..
Check RCBazaar, RCHyderabad online stores. If you can't get it, use Balsa wood, plastic Coro sheet or cardboard. It's heavier but will work.
We can place Carbon fiber on it to make it stronger
what is Styrofoam is it thermacol
Yes..
yes, but its totally compressed by machine and it have no balls like thermacol
@@dharmendrapatidar6761 No. This is normal thermacol which is now banned here. The compressed one you are talking about is known as depron.
@@AmitWagh For depron should I use same method or any difference?
Awesome idea. Will be waiting for maiden.
Thanks. Coming soon..)
Expecting more rc videos
I can't even get 5mm styrofoam sheets anywhere 😑
Get some cardboard or corrugated sheets or coro sheets or balsa wood sheets....😉😀
You could get thicker chunks of styrofoam and hot wore cut it down to thin sheets
thankyoucomeagain :)
just ripping off Ed from Experimental Airways without having the decency of crediting him
