    I went back and watched this. Weird about the not clear but they’re not ugly at all, just not clear. I would recommend a “feeding tube syringe” for next time, they work much better than any of the bakery products for filling. Thank you!

    You may want to try using clear unflavored, gelatin and a flavor oil, so you can see the ball through it. Add some salt to the chocolate? Maybe cocoa powder or chocolate liquor or flavor oil/emulsion? Oh that would be good content to do a test of those but those balls are beautiful nice job getting so psyched about saving for a freeze dryer… so jealous!!

    YOU MIGHT TRY A BOTTLE THAT IS USED FOR MELTED CHOCOLATE (KINDA LIKE A OLD STYLE KETCHUP OR MUSTARD BOTTLE)! But love your videos and creative ideas!!!

    Yes i find big silicone baking things need a cookie sheet under it or it just flops about.
    Very interesting idea with the pudding and jello.

    You may want to try using a turkey baster to fill your molds.

  • @galaxyaj2938
    @galaxyaj2938 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Maybe a ziploc bag would work well to fill the molds. Fill the bag, and then when you're ready cut the end. Throw away and use another when you need to fill more. Cheap and maybe would work.

    Maybe try a mustard/ketsup squeeze containers you can get at $ tree.
    Thank you for your video I and doing a marathon of them.
    My question with each time is--"what is he setting the freeze dryer on? How long did it take?"
    I am learning and haven't bought yet.

      I have the newer model FD so I pre freeze my treats in the freezer. I use the settings Pre Frozen Liquid and press start, easy peasy

      @@JohnInBibs I always add extra time because I want to make really sure things are done. Am I wasting time (and electricity)? Do you just go with when the FD turns off? Thanks ... ps - love your videos and helping me think outside the box!

    • @JohnInBibs
      @JohnInBibs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@corrine138 Absolutely, I have learned from experience to always add time. As a flexible rule I don't take anything out if it has run less than 36 hours. I may pay more for electricity, but I am more confident that the items are dry.

    I am wondering if you put the Jello in the fridge and let it set to where it is more transparent if it would look different after freeze-drying. I think freezing it beforehand caused the liquid to form those little ice crystals inside which gives it that white appearance. I could be totally wrong just guesstimating! Glad I found your channel, keep making awesome videos!!

    maybe they used Knox unflavored gelatin??? to get the 'clear' look.

    Are you using cardboard or wood under your silicone molds for transporting to freezer?

    • @JohnInBibs
      @JohnInBibs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use cardboard wrapped with foil to transfer, thinking of investing in cookie trays though

    Where can I find those molds? Are they completely flat on open end or do they close up slightly to keep the ball shape,?

    • @JohnInBibs
      @JohnInBibs  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have them listed in my Amazon store, the following is an affiliate link and I earn a small commission on qualified purchases: www.amazon.com/shop/johninbibs They are slightly rounded at the top, which makes them a little hard to pop out but less of a flat spot

    Super ideas John! I bought the little mold and made some small pudding balls. I noticed that the Jello pudding is sugar-free. Is the jello that you bought sugar-free by chance? Also I have another question, what do you think about doing a strawberry fruit puree or a banana puree and freezing those in the tiny ball mold. Then inserting that inside of a chocolate pudding larger ball?

    Did you ever figure out how to make it come out clear? I'm wondering if using boiled water would do it. It works to make clear ice so it might work to make clear jello balls.

    Can you suck the pudding up through the tip like you would a needle? That way you wouldn’t have to spoon it in.

    Looks great.
    Does the finished feeze dried jello ball come out CRUNCHY? or is it soft?
    You mentioned look like TRIX! they DO!!! Looks really good. thanks for making this video.

    and if so,
    do you re hydrate with water and heat it up?

      Thanks, the jello comes out crunchy. Yes chili can be freeze dried. I made a video of the chili I make. You re-hydrate chili with water and it comes out like you made it fresh that day!
