- Lua the 12 week English Bulldog puppy is going through a training exercise on how to Stay, sit, Place and feed on command.
At first Lua was too excited to eat her food almost knocking it out of my hands, therefore puppy obedience is very important to have some control over your furry friends.

I just got a English bulldog yesterday , his name is bruno and 12 weeks old

We weren’t ever serious about our bulldogs. We never trained them as pups. I regret it so much

How did you teach her what “sit” was? You did demonstrate how you taught her “stay,” so thank you for that!
There is a few tricks to teach sit.. One being just waiting around until she sits on her own then give her a treat immediately... Your pup will then come up to you and automatically sit in hopes they will receive a treat... You can then incorporate sign language along with Vocal "Sit" command.. Each command I give my dog also comes with a hand signal so at times you don't even need to vocalize a command.

How do you calm them down before training? Thank you.
With training I can usually just get right into it without any preparation. But I have a video where I use a stick and tie something to the end, and they will chase it as long as I allow. Once they're done chasing after about 10-15 min they take naps for hours... A walk around the neighborhood or any playtime with their toys will burn off extra energy.

That's raw chicken not cooked? Just got my puppy this week. I have her on Hills Science Diet. Was wondering about the raw chicken diet. Or maybe just for treats.
Raw diet has been the best for my pups compared to kibble. If interested you can research the "BARF" diet for dogs which was created by an australian vet. Barf stands for Bones and Raw Food.
What age is good to start doing this kind of training?
A good age to begin training is as young as possible but usually around 6weeks+ since they can comprehend better. Some of the first training for puppies would be to teach them how to stay calm by holding a treat until the puppy is calm then you give it the treat.. The puppy will learn to stay calm instead of jumping wild... Additionally you can begin other training exercises but don't expect too much since the puppies are still young. Ideal professional training can start at 6 Months.
Can you do this on a older bulldog
Yes, dogs are able to learn new command at any age. And as long as you continue doing it they will remember.

Try holding the puppy back with force ie. using a leash or your arm in the way. Then voice the command and let the puppy eat the treat at the same time. Within a few days you pup will learn to only eat the treat once you voice the command. Additionally do not train for more than 5 minutes at a time, this will confuse the puppy and end up boring the pup, and you want a pup to be excited about training instead of scared/bored.

Yes, pups will begin to pick up routines and habits at a very young age such as potty training, walks etc..

@@nayeligarcia3725 You can use any type of treat you like, anything "All natural" would be best. Personally when I train my dogs, I use small pieces of raw meat or small pieces of cheese. Dairy is good for dogs, but in very small amounts to avoid upset stomachs.

At 6 weeks, my pups are eating a complete raw food diet 90%chicken with bone, 5% veggie 5%chicken liver.

What kind of raw meat?
Any kind of raw animal meat works, just not too much pork since it's very fatty. My stable food for my dogs is chicken, which seems to be the easiest for them to digest and the most inexpensive in store.

He's fully potty trained at this time. Basically I would just take him out every single hour and place him on the dirt.. I did this for about 1 month straight and he never peed or poo inside.
Something that is wrong here - you don’t praise and give treats at the same time. Praising your dog and physical affection is a reward in itself. Using treats is another. There are instances where a puppy will sit as soon as it sees a treat because that’s what it associates sitting with. Please be careful regarding how you train your dog. Abundance of rewards for a singular task can backfire.
