This one was warned a solid hour or more before it hit the LR metro area. It started west of Hot Springs and the weather guys on TV warned then that it was pointing right at LR and that we should all be aware. This event was also heavily warned days in advance. I woke this morning knowing it was going to be a bad weather day.
Little Rock is very hilly terrain so that should be a reminder to people not to believe myths that bluffs or rivers protect you from a tornado...they don't.
Yeah you're right about that cuz we have like a big drop-off so many feet from the house then you go up to a hill after you pass the pond. But trees can fall and the hill won't help you're right. At one time I thought about building closet to a room. Maybe double the Walls. The tornadoes can mess up a wall anyway. If that's all you had least you got some chance. If you have an existing closet. Or what people used to do build a little thing in the ground. It wouldn't have to be to deep. That way the tree falls hopefully you can push a tree or saw your way out and you only have to dig out hopefully just a foot or less. If you have something that falls on you and they may not hear you with double walls . Or make a small window opening. But if you do the same thing better have your little saw, small shovel machete or something 5o get out of the rubble
This weather has been crazy this year. Just right for tornados. This is so sad after just seeing what happened in Mississippi. So many people with loss of life and losing their homes. Just horrible.
My daughter's home had all of the windows and doors destroyed and a tree was through the roof in one room. She is safe and that is what matters but there are sure to be injuries or deaths with such a large area of city destroyed.
