The bear comes around day 15-17, it's nothing to do with how many villagers you have. I've found it best to lure it out of the camp to a rocky outcrop and just kite it around that until it goes away. Also building a cottage is good for winter, you can get 7 beds in it and it includes a fireplace. Good tip on farming the smolkrs though - maybe you can build a pen and keep them in that until you need to butcher them.
Split stacks by holding shift and dragging items from one container to another. You'll get a quantity window mid screen when you drop the item in target container.
My first winter I had 5 villagers. Winter killed one. And luckily most of them do nothing stayed on base while, i'm managing the fire. I do have so many mushroom to overcooked. And make it as coal. Mushroom are much better coal for the campfire. And I survived doing the same thing all over again. But I didn't know that you can pick up those animals. haha. thanks for that. The bear attack I almost rage quit, I had 3 villagers and bear killed two. WTH was that. So I went to steam and gave this game a bad review. hahaha! And now, I'm waiting for my first invasion, clocked ticking to 8 days. Hopefully I'll managed, I armed some of my villagers, and One making armours. Also buffing the fences. Hope I survived that as I don't have the iron yet. After invasion probably I need to find the caves.
Dont forget the mussles on the shoreline either. Those don't go away in winter and can fill up quickly too.

I fit ten beds in the cottage and I could probably rearrange to fit twelve.
@@lethalsmoke You can do that, but it'll negatively affect your peoples moods

They should be able to put the firewood on their own..😊
Really good and helpful stuff thanks I did not hit my winter yet
Where did you got that cool axe??
Thanks im glad it was helpful. The axe you craft it I made a video about invasion prep which explains some of the weapons/gear you will need.
If you can pick these guys up, can you stick them into a fenced in pen?
You could but your hunters will kill them anyway.

Once you get past learning the mechanics it becomes way easier and the first invasion isnt too bad 1 group with one tough Follower.
