Nobody in the early 50s was as funny as Martin and Lewis. They were only around for about 5 years. Yes, they were together for about 8 years, but only 5 years they were on TV, and movies. Hal Wallis didn’t know how to use them in film. Their first year they really weren’t making films that featured their talent.
Dean Martin has NEVER been as "alive" as when he was with Jerry. Jerry was able to transmit some of his inexhaustible energy to "his" Dean. They were great together. Dean has NEVER been so funny and above all funny WITHOUT cue cards with jokes written by others. Jerry remained funny (we smart people with healthy lives and a certain degree of culture know how funny Jerry was, the mediocre ignoramuses and anti-Semites NO) but he lost that playfulness he only had with Dean. He could have found another "shoulder" worthy of Dean (Merv Griffin in my opinion would have been a great replacement), Jerry just didn't want to. He never cheated on his Paul. And Dean, perhaps, only realized that Jerry was his lifeblood when it was too late. They were soul mates. Romeo and Juliet divided by too many things ... "external forces" as Deana always said, who still today calls Jerry with the definition of "Uncle Jerry". She still loves him now.
Why are you watching it then? Like, get off and stop judging people. Everyone has different comedy humours...so leave us to ours and you can go to yours. Thanks. Bye

I know this is a year late, but how come Dean's singing bits are cut outta these films. One of the best things about these shows.
too expensive I would imagine. I'd like to see the entire shows also.
Glad the song "you'll never get away " was not cut out .

What was Jerry in the hospital for???!?
He had fallen off the scooter Dean had given him ( on the paramount lot apparently )
Jerry Lewis was never funny. His type of comedy is so lame. I don't understand why people find him funny.
