Valerie, I am so sorry for your loss. The unexpected losses are always the hardest on us. I have lost many people unexpectedly over the course of my life, and I always find that music and art is a great way to help us through the grieving. Whether you are the one creating it, or you are just the one observing and absorbing it. It always helps. On the subject of Angelina... It seems that Angelina always turns to music in her times of grief. She has done many tributes over the years for people that are important to her.... "wake me up", "natural woman", "trampoline", are a few, and her "always on my mind", and of course her "Million Miles" are probably the most hard hitting for me as they are both about her grandfathers.

Thank you for this wonderful reaction, Valerie, and I'm very sorry for your loss. You mentioned that making your videos helps you, and I find listening to Angelina very therapeutic myself. I believe that she has genuine compassion for anyone who is suffering, and she said that her song Million Miles was dedicated to anyone who had lost a loved one. She dedicated this heartfelt performance to her paternal grandfather who passed away in March of 2018. She wrote, "Our family lost a treasure today, my grandfather passed away. He was very close to me and always supported me in everything I did. He always made me smile, laugh and gave me great life lessons. He was a man who got respect from all over the town, always helped people in need, he was the definition of a true gentleman and generous man with a big heart. He will be remembered by homeless people he helped to be able to make a living. He was in deep pain for a couple of months now, he will no longer suffer from the pain. May he rest in peace, our memories together will stay forever in my heart. Until we meet again, ❤️"

Valerie, I'm so sorry for your loss but glad to see that you are coping as well as you are. I almost do not call this a reaction. Rather it was a cleansing. Listening to Angelina here always makes me cry. It brings back memories of those I have lost and I feel her pain. I think we all feel grief in these situations of loss but we handle it differently. The key is to be able to move forward as both Angelina and you have done.

Angelina is probably the greatest living storyteller and this is also thanks to her empathy.
She is not afraid to show her feelings about her and shares the suffering of others, to the point of taking off her shoes to give them to a girl who is deprived and promising that she will perform barefoot until all the children in the world have the shoes. And this she promised at the age of six. Ricoda San Martino, from Wikipedia: "In the harsh winter of 335 Martin met a semi-naked beggar. Seeing him suffering, he cut his military cloak (the white chlamys of the imperial guard) in two and shared it with the beggar."

She has lost both grandfathers fairly close apart. You can see a
photo of her Scandinavian grandfather behind her and can just
imagine how much emotion she had to fight off as long as she
could, Finally, at the very end , you can see her emotion coming
forth but it just accentuates this beautiful tribute that much more.
Hopefully, he's somewhere in the 'here after' to see this.

Angelina chose this song because her grandfather passed away and it is the first song she dedicated to him. Of course after that came the song Million Miles which she recorded in his honor. Among them you can also see a picture of him in the song "Happier" where she realizes that despite the great sorrow she has to continue a song also dedicated to Avichai with whom Angelina was in a musical relationship until the moment he decided to commit suicide. 😖 A.J is 🗣🎙👑

About three years ago this video introduced Angelina to a lot of people on you tube. I was one of them. The beautiful journey started at that moment. Today, because so much of her recent work is regularly listened to it takes a while before newer followers get to hear and see this video. To them it must be a startling experience. Yes, they already knew what she does to them and , they "get it". But, they will all graduate to another level after listening to this.
Her most inner feelings touch us so much we allow our hearts to take it all in and love is flowing in every direction. Yes, Valerie, crying is healthy. Our brain takes a back seat and our heart takes over and reminds us we are beautiful, compassionate and lets us express our emotions openly.
Even when Angelina is not singing for us at the moment, at any particular time we can feel her presence in our heart. Call it what you want. Love, proud, respect, happiness but, it you think about it, never sadness. Oh, she sings about sadness often but there is always hope in the same song.
I'll end my comments this way. I'm sure many people have experienced the following situation and may have addressed it the way I do and will do until everyone in the world knows who she is. I'll be telling someone about Angelina and the people who don't "get it" yet suggest to me I'm going overboard and dismiss my comments lightly. As if it was a phase I'm going through and will get over it. I explain to them, without arguing, I understand where they are coming from but I am not alone. Thousands upon thousands (perhaps millions) of people around the world feel as strongly as I do about her and perhaps they need to take another look at what's going on and give her another listen. If there is anyone in the world who can unlock the love sealed in someone's heart, it is her.

For me this is probably one of the sweetest and most painful interpretations of Angelina, for the overflowing emotion she transmits in this slow version of the song and it is very sweet the moment in which she is overwhelmed by tears, but even in pain he still wants to finish the song. If only there weren't that musical interlude near the end, she might have made it through the whole thing. But you can see that she was getting increasingly emotinal as she waited to sing again, and you can immediately hear it in her voice when she resumes (as did Ivan - notice how he looks at her). This was posted to her CoverChannel within a week of her grandfather's death, which was (AFAIK) right around the time she and her family moved from Norway to the US. I'm still amazed that she posted this. If this had happened to me, I probably would have been like, "Oh, well, I tried. It just didn't work out." But she posted it for all the world to see (and not only to YT, but also to FB). I would ask, how can a 12-year-old be so mature? But I already know the answer.

May I request your reaction to this amazing performance by Daneliya Tuleshova
"Not your war" by Okean Elzy th-cam.com/video/-YoDsibwzCI/w-d-xo.html
Is an Ukrainian song written after the 2014 war with Russia which lead to the annexation of Crimea to Russia.
Is now more actual than ever to spread this words of peace.
It's the final performance in the The Voice Kids Ukraine 4th season 2017.
She barely keeps tears at bay when she sings and is really shaken during the final comments as the spectators and the judges.
There are Russian subtitles (don't select the auto-generated one) and the auto translation to english works well.
    This is the transcript:
Daneliya's words at the end of the song:
    Well, maybe it is enough?
I have a dream to live in a country
    Where we're united
Where every child and every family is happy
Where I can be a human
Where there's no war and hatred
Where we can courageously move forward
Where I see light and don't see weapons
Where I'm proud of you and myself...
    Coach comment translation:
Monatik: It will be better to tell how it all began... When we were working on the final song I asked Danya (diminutive from Daneliya) what did she want to sing? She replied that she adores "Okean Elzy" group. And I asked her "What song do you want to sing?" She replied: "The War That's Not Yours". And I thought: "Such a little girl... Whether she can feel and understand such a complicated song? I asked her to sing and I was just flabbergasted. Daneliya, I just want to tell you, dear Daneliya Tuleshova, you have to understand that you are held responsible... As far as I understand you are now the Voice of all the children of our planet... You have a great mission here... I'm honestly sure about it... And soon you will understand how important this mission is. That is why I'm deeply honored to touch to your creativity, to work with you, it's an honor for me to be your coach in the project the Voice of Ukraine... And regardless of the outcome of this project, you can feel by every particle of your body of what is happening... On any language, you can convey what is deep down in your heart... And you are really incredible. Thank you for everything you do on this show... And God willing you will be the world's greatest star... And I'm glad that here, on the Voice of Ukraine, we have such a kid... Thank you very much!
