Was lucky enough to be at their joint concert in Tokyo where they live debuted this song. Me & GF flew 6,000 miles from oHio to Japan! We spent 10 days in Japan. We stayed 5 days in Kyoto & Tokyo each with day trips to Osaka & Himeji. Was an amazing concert & trip! Was an experience we both will cherish forever! Really hoping that they release an official live video of this from that concert too! Both bands are friends & fans of each other. BTW - there's a behind the scenes video of this collab on The Warning's channel
They give each other credit and shine together. The ending is a call back to Alejandras ending to the song "Survive"! You can se how much fun all the members in both bands had when doing this.
So TW and B-M met at a US festival in 2022 and said they should collaborate. They got that opportunity this year. TW went to Japan and played three shows, one with Band-Maid. TW traveled to Japan two weeks early to write/compose/record with B-M and record a MV. They then played it together at their one concert together. In an interview on the PRS channel, Kanami and Dany said that more collaborations are in the future. Kanami wants B-M to go to Mexico and and Dany wants the collab to be in Spanish. Dany and Kanami play similar PRS guitars in the same color. There is now a behind the scenes video of the two bands together on TW's YT channel.
The collaboration between BAND-MAID and The Warning on "Show Them" had its roots in 2022 when the two bands met for the first time at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California. The Warning, long-time admirers of BAND-MAID, connected with them backstage, and the idea of collaborating began to take shape. In December 2023, Kanami, BAND-MAID’s guitarist, sent The Warning a rough demo for "Show Them." Kanami aimed to venture into new musical territory, crafting a song that would bring out fresh aspects of both bands’ styles. Miku, BAND-MAID’s rhythm guitarist, worked on the lyrics with The Warning, blending ideas from both groups to refine the song’s message. The collaboration initially unfolded through Zoom meetings and shared drafts, a unique process for both bands. However, the real breakthroughs came in June 2024, when The Warning visited Japan. Working in person allowed the bands to fine-tune the track together, despite the challenges of language and cultural differences. Both groups contributed ideas that stayed true to their individual sounds while pushing creative boundaries. The song was performed live in Tokyo, featuring all eight members of BAND-MAID and The Warning on stage. This rare and powerful performance brought a special energy to "Show Them," making it a highlight on BAND-MAID's album "Epic Narratives." For fans interested in behind-the-scenes insights, The Warning documented the entire experience in their vlog "Our First Time in Japan with Band-Maid," offering a closer look at how the collaboration came together and the camaraderie between the two bands.
Dany has such amazing vocal range she can sing with anyone in their sweet spot. And I love how they gave everyone a moment or two to shine. Beautiful video too. This is how it's done.
The Warning traveled to Tokyo for this collab. There are ‘hints’ that Band-Maid will travel to Monterrey, MX in the future for another collab! Hats off to Kanami for her musical/creative intuition in writing this song in a higher key than Saiki normally sings. She (Kanami) said in an interview that she really wanted to push the vocals
Funny that there are very few comments in this reaction. I discovered The Warning 5 months before I discovered Band-Maid and have become a huge fan of both bands. When I found out that they were going to play together was like waiting for Xmas morning for it to happen. This was a great empowerement song and they have said that when Band-Maid tours Mexico, they will be collaborating again.
@@v6jim2 they don’t have to do what they are used to for music. Both are very creative. The Warning is known to be very versatile and Band Maid has the talent to do anything. Both bands just need to get out of their comfort zone a little.
Everybody had somebody to match up with except Miku, though she got her solo after the 2 drummers. "Miku in the Middle" 🤔 sounds like a good sit-com title.... she is the hub for this collab.
Always appreciate your insightful reactions! Yes, great bass ending, it is an homage to an early song by The Warning “SURVIVE” with Ale finishing the song in the same way, a special song for many fans, (if you are interested - the best version IMO is at their 2017 TEDx performance) - amazing energy by a young The Warning.
I was lucky enough to go to Tokyo to see these two powerhouse groups play on the same stage together! Hopefully, they will release the live footage of them performing this song as the closer for the show. It was so powerful. The love and respect they have for each other was on full display. That was my third Band Maid shiw and my first the Warning concert. I've now seen the Warning two more times, and I've got three more scheduled: Guadalajara, Cologne, and London! While I love both bands, my ears and my heart are with the Warning.
W I N !!!!! 🎀 W I N !!!⚡I think we can just say, at their level, Band-Maid and The Warning are equal peers at the very top of the "Rock" pile. I’ve watched “Show Them” 50 times now and still haven’t been able to drop my eyes down to the lyrics.🤘😂 Thx, Sohum! Btw -- I was just thinking: Band-Maid and The Warning, two very different bands, found something that would bring them together -- music! If only the people of the world could find something that would bring them together. I know... if peace and prosperity isn't enough, how about uniting for the very survival of our species! 🤔
Been enjoying your reactions for a while... you're the first person I've watched who was following both bands before discovering this (often this song is a 'gateway drug' for fans of Band-Maid to diacover The Warning. It was the opposite for me). I liked how you referred to the call and respond/ pairing etc. This was a true collaboration born out of a mutual respect and love for each other's music. Some reactors frame it as versus, or a battle of the bands or call out which artist's piece is "better". DPA have called out time and again how they have faced challenges as a result of being women, Mexican, a rock band, and young. You captured the collaborative and supportive spirit of Show Them. Thank you!
It’s fairly new, they just did this back in June. There is a good chance that they will have another go at working together. They’ve hinted that they were going to get together in 2025.
There are so many great bands in Japan. Bandmaid is one of the best but Lovebites, Rolling Quartz, Hanabie just to name a few are fantastic. The Warning collaborating with Bandmaid just shows their genius approach to music. Ale is the rock in The Warning and she is the "baby", lol. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALE!
I'm glad to see that they actually got to do this after so long, but for me, although composed by Kanami, I would have preferred Saiki to sing a harmony and not just double up the vocals. This is most like The warning in style but with solo passages like Band-maid. Anyway, both sets of fans got to hear the others styles and music which is great. Got tickets for The Warning in the UK in April. Now all we need is a Band-Maid tour- please!

I think it might be fair to say that this collab actually doesn't sit that well with all The Warning fans. They may be too nice to say it, but this actually just sounds a bit like a BM song with The Warning shoehorned in. Dany even sings in such a way that you can barely tell her apart from the BM vocalist. During the song there are a number of times that there is a 'Duel' type thing and it appears that the way it's written and edited just shows BM in a better light. Also the song is actually pretty mediocre. Rubbish lyrics and absolutely no soul. But, it has served it's purpose. It's been a great promotional tool for both bands which is great. I sincerely hope that they don't repeat this excercise. The collab with Dead Poets Society is a much better example of how it should be done.
Disagree. The Dead Poet song already existed and The Warning was fit in. Basically a remix. This song was actually created together. Neither is it a typical BM song. The structure is much more the style of The Warning. Ya, it is not as interesting a lyric as is typical for The Warning and the song is far from the better work of either band. That said, it is fun that they collaborated and great to see the two bands sharing music and spending time together,.
It doesn’t sounds B-M either…Both singers sang different octave than usually. Typical collab song, two bands having fun playin’ together with simple mainstream song. Maybe sounded too mainstream cause you have to fit TW in it.
