Fun Fact: The banners in the theater would face the stage because if the event was televised, when they cut to commercial break, the cameras typically pan out over the audience. The banners are essentially a "logo" when going to and from commercial break
"Your teacher said to take off your robes!" I had to pause the video to laugh for five whole minutes. "Ten Points to Gryffindor" Yep, had to pause the video again to laugh for another five minutes. This is my new favorite musical theatre mash musical commentary! This one had me cracking up.
I need Voldemort to know that I get “oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, Whoopi Goldberg day” stuck in my head about once a week. I’ve never seen either Sister Act or any Robin Hood. This is all I know.
So, I'm not sure if you ever got the answer, but the kid who hits the crazy high note during the Oh Happy Day performance *did* go on to something of a singing career, at least briefly. He was part of a group called City High and I remember they had a song called What Would You Do, I think. I still randomly sing it to myself at the oddest times. But my brain is basically a jukebox anyway, so that in itself isn't weird for me.
*Specifically with the special guests. These videos are hilarious, but when you bounce jokes off of other people in the room it makes it exponentially more funny!
I think I’ve probably commented this already, but please make “We Are the Commentary” shirts. I will buy one. I will design one. I’m a visual journalism student. Will you hire me to design the shirt? Honestly, I’ll do it for free. Tommy. Tommy. Say the word and a “We Are the Commentary” shirt design will be yours. Please.
The chef is Thomas Gottschalk, famous host of Germany's most popular Tv Show 'Wetten, dass...?' ('Wanna bet...?') for almost 25 years. He says 'Das ist deutsche Hartwurst!' (literally 'This is German hard sausage!') in the German sync, which adds a little bit more creepy innuendo :D
You've not seen Legally Blonde?!?!? You NEED to see it! It's an awesome movie and then the musical is so awesome, too! The musical is actually more family friendly than the movie . . .they tamed Elle down for the musical . . . And the way she wins the court case in her law class is just incredible!
I kinda want to see you guys do the 2004 Phantom. I kinda want to see you point out the little mess ups like the unexplained costume change for Christine right before "Music of the Night" also because I really just love phantom and it'd bring me joy. But can we talk about Ann Margret in the Santa Clause 3? another thing that brings me joy. Haha
these videos are like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 even through you not showing us the whole thing, we here for the commentary and we are happy for it. Do more
I should not have watched this at work. I've been snort-laughing in my cubicle, trying not to disturb my neighbors. Also, we watched both of these movies on the bus to Catholic Youth Camp in middle school, because of course, what else would we watch?
@22:25 did you accidentally say Empty Room’s real name and forgot to edit it out? Cause it sound liked you did. I won’t say what I thought I heard because I know there’s a good reason for why you guys never reveal your true identities. Anyways love your work. I hope you do more of these with your friends.
The Commentators should watch some of the episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that are heavy on the musical theater references. There's one that's basically the plot of The Music Man and Sondheim is referenced in a LOT of the original songs of other episodes (like Art of the Dress).
"Let's blow up the school" JD would have been proud *sniff* (Also, I know im late to the party and there might be a million comments saying the exact same thing but shhh)
Can I just say that I came across your videos today and I have been thoroughly enjoying them. Keep up the good work 😊 On a side note I did wonder if you have ever seen 'The slipper and the rose'. Thought it might be an interesting one to see you and your friends comment on.

But... no school choir competition I've ever been in has been televised. Just sayin'.
Pera Medina unless your glee or bring it on

"FATHER DESSERT SAUSUAGE." I'M DEAD!
I need Voldemort to know that I get “oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, Whoopi Goldberg day” stuck in my head about once a week. I’ve never seen either Sister Act or any Robin Hood. This is all I know.
Note to self: don't watch these while you're putting on your makeup. It makes for very dangerous eyeliner application.
I laughed so hard, my abs hurt. I could honestly watch a hundred of these videos, they are so great.
The dude who was singing "Oh Happy Day" ended up being in a late 90s R&B group called City High. I think. Maybe it is a rumor.
It was frustrating to watch you guys NOT mention that Michael Jeter was Mr. Noodle.
RIGHT?! I was waiting for them to say he was Mr. Noodle's brother Mr. Noodle (Mr. Noodle was Bill Irwin and Cheno was Ms Noodle!)
Not Carlie Wait, HE WAS?!?!? Like, Elmo's World Mr.Noodle?
Yup (not the tall curly-haired Mr. Noodle, but Mr. Noodle's brother Mr. Noodle.)
Not Carlie OMG
"Grindr doesn't have swiping..." 😂😂😂
*DEAD*
*grabs defibrillator*
Ha! I make a point of using the appellation “…… : Electric Boogaloo” to anything that comes across as even remotely sequelesque

Also now we know what Mgonagall does in summer when class is out
I'm delighted that there are people who inexplicably loves this movie as much as I do.
Don't forget Michael Jeter is also the main elf in "Mrs Santa Claus ", which I know you did previously.
Loved this video. Great job.
this man could knoco your lights out with his eyebrow theyre so strong and emotive i love
I dropped my phone halfway through this video and screamed "WHOOPIE NO".
I swear the window at 9:32 is the same window from Mark and Roger's apartment in the Rent movie (which, IIRC, was filmed in San Francisco).
More commentaries on musicals please! I'd watch a live stream of this, if you did it.
*Specifically with the special guests. These videos are hilarious, but when you bounce jokes off of other people in the room it makes it exponentially more funny!

Tommy.
Say the word and a “We Are the Commentary” shirt design will be yours. Please.
this has become one of my favorite channels in three videos. Plus, the host- adorable.
Yes he did have a few songs.
the girl with the tootsie pop is also Mr Beakman's assistent (Beakman's World). I loved that show

Not Carlie yes they should!
I liked it.
No God No!

You and your friends should have a podcast where you talk over movies. I would listen.
You and your empty room are a riot. Cheers!
Funniest thing I've seen this week thank you
My god I am in love with redheaded nun!
OMG this is now my favorite thing ever! Finally not alone in the Sister Act love. :D
You guys should watch and comment on CAMP. Love that movie!
Yes! There's a cameo by Sondheim, and kids on a bus singing Losing my Mind! You'd be in love.
Marina Lebowich, you're a GENIUS!!!
Can you talk about the stage version of Sister Act?
Did you ever do Fighting Temptations?
I cannot believe Tommy has not seen Legally Blonde. It's a musical, right? Please watch that next. It's actually the greatest.

I've never clicked on a video faster. I'm so happy about this happening and it didn't disappoint. MORE OF THESE!! 😭😭
MICHAEL JETER WAS IN THE GREEN MILE!!! Are you freaking serious??? lol how can you be a fan of an actor and not watch his most thrilling role.
I still desperately need a “We Are the Commentary” shirt
I don't know if I've ever laughed harder at a video than I did at this one
these videos are like Mystery Science Theatre 3000 even through you not showing us the whole thing, we here for the commentary and we are happy for it. Do more
Jeter was also the first Mr. Noodle on Elmo's World.
I should not have watched this at work. I've been snort-laughing in my cubicle, trying not to disturb my neighbors. Also, we watched both of these movies on the bus to Catholic Youth Camp in middle school, because of course, what else would we watch?
I realize this is super delayed, but I am disappointed that you not once brought up the fact that Jennifer Love Hewitt was in this movie
The girl sitting next to tootsie pop McGee is Jennifer Love Hewitt!
The guy in the straw hat is from The Fantasticks!
I love this group of people
omg it just occurred to me that I haven't seen one of ur videos in a while (despite being sub'd.). I rang the bell now to save myself this fate. :)
@22:25 did you accidentally say Empty Room’s real name and forgot to edit it out? Cause it sound liked you did. I won’t say what I thought I heard because I know there’s a good reason for why you guys never reveal your true identities.
