I absolutely LOVE the idea of triad stadium. It’s like it’s own map, but with cool additions/changes every splatfest. If they added that, I would probably play regular splatfest turf war much more.
A splatfest I'd like to see would be a Pikmin themed Splatfest to hype up Pikmin 4. That would be kinda cool and maybe shed some light to one of Nintendo's less known franchises.
i think they were going for 3v3v3, but even with the new internet system used in s3, the game couldn't handle 9 players instead of 8, and that’s why the tricolor battles came out feeling rushed and unfinished
I remember coming into splatoon 2 very late but the shift stations I was so shook by, they were always so fun to me, and made it really exciting. I love your idea of triad stadium, something like a map shape but with changes each time, 3v3v3, sounds like a fun idea and get people more excited than an edited version of an existing stage
If I had to guess, I think the main reason there's no "triad stadium" where we have new three way stages specifically for tricolor is due to the added complexity of making stages with 3-way symmetry (something non-existent in splatoon, even including the singleplayer.). Making just one stage like that would be kinda lame, and making a new one every splatfest like with shifty station could take too much time and resources away from the rest of the game due to the added complexity. All that said though, this doesn't really excuse them just getting rid of shifty station entirely. Having a new custom stage each splatfest was the best part about them, and there's no reason they couldn't at least keep that if they weren't even going to attempt to evolve it at all
I’m honestly surprised with how they handled Tri Colour because when I thought about a Splatoon 3, I did think they’d eventually add multiple teams (especially considering coloured ink would make each team stand out) but the fact new maps haven’t been made for tricolour, the teams are 2v2v4 instead of 2v2v2 or 3v3v3, and there’s a ultra signal gimmick instead of just a normal turf war is baffling to me.
I really love the idea of tri color at triad stadiums! I was so confused when there was no shifty station equivalent during the gear, grub, and fun splatfest, but this idea really sounds like it would give splatoon 3 is own identity
I randomly came up this idea for ranked modes in splat fest, on the 2nd day, half time will report the leading team, but instead of tricolor and all that happening, a new mode opens up called "anarchy festival battle" where you can play normal ranked modes (maybe with some sort of twist for each of them) and the ultra-signal mode, (this time 4v4) instead of getting splat fest titles when winning on this mode, you can rank up from C- to X by winning. you also can do a series with friends! your splat fest rank determines a new category, worth 10 pts. basically to calculate who wins this category, each rank rewards a certain amount of points for each team, (c- starts with +0 so people who didn't play the mode don't give any credit, this incentivizes casual players to at least get to C or C+. every rank up from C- increases the points earned by +1) the team with the most points from all the players combined on that splat fest team earns the category. (The results will be displayed with the actual point totals from each team) and on the 3rd day triad stadium and classic ultra-signal mode open up.
I don't think the game can handle 1 extra player in its current state. The game is already struggling to 60fps with 8 players, plus with all the communication errors at the moment. Hopefully this is not the case but I am doubting that we will see a 3v3v3 mode anytime soon personally.
cool ideas but they’d have to come up with some half assed lore explanation as to why shifty stations returned since marina is on tour and shiver isnt a octarian.
I literally love the triad stadium idea, but i feel like it would complicate queuing up with friends. if only 3 ppl can be on your team and all 4 of you queue up for a match, what happens then?
Yeah I thought of that too. I think it would just be how it was for the attacking teams in previous splatfests where you just couldn't play tricolor when having too many players. Kind of a crappy solution but there's not much more they can do unless the next game is on a stronger console and tricolor is 4v4v4.
one critique with this one, first 3v3v3 or 2v2v2 breaks the 4/8 player structure and the former requires on additional player character which might not even be possible. but everything else is fucking genius
Thanks I appreciate it! Though I don't see why it would have to be locked to a strict 8 player structure? There's an argument to if the switch can handle 9 players, but I see no reason why 6 shouldn't be possible tbh.
Definitely like your ideas and think they would work great. Only complaint is one you addressed in the video; having ultra signals being a normal mode outside of Splatfests I think would take quite a bit away from how special they feel when you DO get to play them. But I am ALL for a new casual AND competitive mode. Even "casual-ranked/anarchy" would be nice. I've had a few mode ideas myself. Hide and Seek, perhaps 8-Ball Soccer/Billiards... there's a lot you could do with the squiddos.
I love the triad stadium idea! but the fact that it was not released on launch has me with little hope we will get to see something as amazing as that. I am actually a little concerned about the updates for splatoon 3, mainly because of the lack of support animal crossing got. I am worried that the days of endless updates from 1 are gone
So before you read this I wrote this underneath a different videos, so there might be parts that don't fit your video directly, but I think it has lots of things included. I also really like your solutions and ideas and agree with your opinion. For me I do still play turf war regulary, but I still agree that it might need something new. I really love the Idea of bigger battles and If they were to put in the game, they should make a turfwar rotation where it switches between the "modes" 4v4, 6v6, 8v8, 10v10, but as we know Nintendo the "servers" would never handle this nor would it be something they have time and money for. I think it would also be very hard to implement, because most weapons are made for these rather small maps and with more players playing they needed bigger maps and most weapons couldn't adapt to that. Now what I would do is just make turfwar similar to anarchy battles, add new modes and also use things we already have. As of modes directly turfwar amd deathmatch sould be enough, but know there is a twist, both modes will have 2v2v2v2, 2v4v2 (not tricolor directly), 4v4 and maybe 2v6 (like something with 2 juggernauts and 6 regular players) roations. In most cases maps don't have to be changed massively, weapons and player don't have to adapt to much, it's no complete game revolution, which would be hard for nintendo to implement, and finally there is no change in player sizes. One thing I would add to that is that we need to get this (and anarchy too but yeah) in the splatfests, including the shifty stations and maybe more. I think splatfest just don't seem and never really seem special except for the night theme, music and that you could only play turfwar (which is not good). They are going the right way with tricolor battles, but If they maybe added one more special mode or general special thing to the splatfest and combine it with all modes being playable (If the modes add points to the splatfest itself is nintendos choice), the splatfest would be great.
@@thebipedalsquid yeah they definitely wouldn’t make a game mode unplayable just because the events where they took place have ended. I do wonder more though, will they add splatfest turf wars, too?
I love every single idea in this video and hope that maybe SOMETHING like any of them will be added to the actual game. also, the thumbnail with the pikmin has made me realize that when Pikmin 4's release is a week away, similar to Scarlet and Violet, we're more than guaranteed a Pikmin fest, with the teams probably being related to which (original) pikmin is the best one.
I think one of the things I’d like to see is the introduction of game modes to tricolour. For example a modified splatzones where each team has a zone they need to defend while also capturing the other teams zones, modified clam blitz where there’s a single shared goal at the centre and you have to stop other teams scoring, modified tower control where the tower is at the centre and you have to lead it back to your teams spawn, modified rainmaker that’s basically a free for all king of the hill. Obviously I’d like to see new modes as well as well as maps specifically designed with 3 teams in mind but I feel like even just offering the gamemodes as options in a splatfest as it is now woukd at least make it more fun. A standard set of tri-stadium layouts would be great for balancing the teams vs the current 2v4v2 (which I think should still be left as either a standard or a gamemode for splatfest) and tbey could be easily modified by changing the set gamemode or layout and hazards to keep it interesting but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
OMG, I thought I was the only one who had the idea of making a special map (specifically Shifty Stations) for these matches, it feels good to not be alone thinking exactly like that 😭😭
This is literally perfect, you have some absolutely great ideas!!! I hope splatoon 4 kind of takes a bit from this and has some 2v2v2v2 quad color modes.
I’m not sure what’s stopping them from producing new stages for splatfests since theoretically they should be getting more support for the game (splatoon has never been bigger in JP and the fan base is growing in the west). There must be some reason that they haven’t pursued something akin to your proposed “triad stadium” (love that idea btw)
I got splatoon 3 on Black Friday, and that day was the first ever time playing splatoon after being in the community for a long while. The next splatfest will be my first splatfest, and I hope it’s a good one. But whatever it will be, I prefer big run better (definitely not based).
I really wonder if the extra player (3v3v3) is what made the devs settle on tricolor. Like I wanna believe it possible but I heard from others that it would break the switch.
Shifty Stations are best, they were the best part of Splatoon 2 imo And I 100% believe that all the Shifty Stations should be available to play during Splatgests. I really like your ideas for improving the Splatfest, they feel a lot more fun and chaotic compared to the bland options we have now (Chaos good >:))
@@blitz0.8 yeah ikr. Like it was totally fun and did feel a bit special being on Wahoo World, but they really should've added SOMETHING unique to the actual gameplay.
I miss Shifty Stations a loooooott Splatoon 3's Splatfests isn't quite having that same exciting impact for me despite the Tri-Colour battles being a thing. I love your Tri-Arenas that feel like Shifty Stations! 😍
better idea: mahi mahi resort with a tower that has the rainmaker checkpoint on it that circles a splat zone and spawns clams with 6 ultra signals in each teams spawn jk your idea is good
My biggest issue with Splatfests is actually the scoring. Of all the freaking things to count for more, they made CASUAL worth more?! That will result in Ranked ppl flocking to Casual. Something ppl who need some time to kill and feel good with themselves would do anyway! What is the point of playing Ranked?! Tri-color should also be its own thing to score imo. Because why wouldn't it be? Then 2 v 4 v 2 might actually work with ultra signal without the defending team probably feeling like crud, since there might actually be reason for the two groups of two to attack each other as well. But their solution of defenders varying kinda works better i suppose. Still... Fix your freaking scoring, Nintendo.
As somebody who missed Splatoon 1 and 2's splatfests being left to Splatoon 3 splatfests puts a sour (no pun intended) taste in my mouth At least splatoon 2 gave you a reason to play splatfest with the shifty stations but now its just: hey you wanna play our brand new super rare unbalenced mode (oh and you can't play ranked)
2:53 nah I don’t think we should have 3v3v3. I mean, everyone already complains about bad connections. We shouldn’t stretch it any more than we do already Edit: I completely understand the want, but I think it’s productive to point out some counter arguments/possible trade offs. I don’t work at Nintendo as a server specialist or anything, but think it only stands to reason that trying to connect more players with each other will cause more problems, and people already complain about there being too many problems, so I think people will be even less happy
@@MADB0SS evidently they can’t consistently handle even 8. I’m sure it would be playable most of the time with 9, but it simply is a fact that there would be more data for the connection to support and the switch to process, which means slower frame rate and higher chance of disconnects overall
@@YouMayKnowMeAsNate they can though, ive never had a communication error in the last splatfest. in my experience its based on people's wifi and not the servers for the most part
Yeah I knew this would be brought up. I have minimal knowledge on how the switch handles multiple players, but I think it could definitely be made to work. If not though that's why I also proposed it being a 2v2v2.
@@thebipedalsquid yep, I know that’s why you also said 2v2v2. My comment wasn’t really aimed at you, but other viewers that want more players in Splatoon matches. I completely understand the want, but I think it’s productive to point out some counter arguments/possible trade offs
people complain about there not being a constant stream of new content but theu forget the game has only been out for 3 and a half months. octo expansion was released almost a WHOLE YEAR after splat 2 launched. im willing to be patient personally, and all the lockers and badges and banners add so much more personalization than was ever available before.
I hope Nintendo listens and actually makes this a reality, because i actually dont like splatfests that much in s3. I think the tricolor we have at the moment could work a lot better if it also got its own maps instead of treating it like a ranked mode, and if they wanna continue treating it like a ranked mode, they should, you know, make it a ranked mode and make it playable for more than one day. (No im not mad at all because i got not a single tricolor last splatfest because i wasnt able to play for very long, i would never be mad at something so insignificant) also team sweet ftw
Honestly, i feel like tricolour *turf war* is a misleading name to most people. While it IS a turf war mode, there's a BIG objective you need you focus on: Capturing/defending the ultra signal. Me and my friends found that keeping our focus on protecting the signal is the strategy and won most of our games that way. I think it could stay as it is, but just be renamed. The tricolor turf war title should totally become the triangle maps u came up with! Nintendo please do better im begging y
It’s definitely an interesting concept and in a perfect world I’d love it, but I do not trust the majority of the Splatoon community enough to want this. I almost guarantee you’d end up with a bunch of situations where two teams end up teaming up to ensure the third team doesn’t get to leave their spawn. Especially after the halftime report. Nintendo could theoretically make it against the rules to team like that but… let’s be honest. That’s not gonna stop people. It might slow it down but it sure as hell wouldn’t fix the problem completely. Plus I feel like having to make a new triad stadium every splatfest would slow game development way down and having only one would get boring.
Aren’t they making tricolor turf wars their own mode? So that you can play tricolor any time without having to wait for it to randomly put you into one?
Yeah what they did is make it so you're no longer locked to either an attacker or defender based on what team you're on, it'll be random each match which will hopefully make it more common to play.
I think a cool way for rankmodes to happen in splatfest is to make them fit Turf War Criteria
For example, for tower control, there is a sprinkler of doom on it instead of the normal pillar and when someone gets on tower the sprinkler of doom activates but when they get off it immediately stops, I think this a great way for rankmodes to exist that fits turf war criteria
I made a whole doc of how they can fit ranked modes into turfwar if you want to see the rest

I would also love if you could play ultra signal on triad stadium. That would be so much fun.
A splatfest I'd like to see would be a Pikmin themed Splatfest to hype up Pikmin 4. That would be kinda cool and maybe shed some light to one of Nintendo's less known franchises.
I would love that!
I think this idea would have to be 2v2v2 because the game can barely handle eight players, so nine is out of the question.
i think they were going for 3v3v3, but even with the new internet system used in s3, the game couldn't handle 9 players instead of 8, and that’s why the tricolor battles came out feeling rushed and unfinished
I think the mini rework they did to tri color was a step in the right direction, but shifty stations were dozens better
Having a new custom stage each splatfest was the best part about them, and there's no reason they couldn't at least keep that if they weren't even going to attempt to evolve it at all
I hope that when the dlc comes we get pearl and marina beeing in splatsville so there’s a lore reason to get shifty station again
I was so confused when there was no shifty station equivalent during the gear, grub, and fun splatfest, but this idea really sounds like it would give splatoon 3 is own identity
theres still a chance something like this is implemented, splatoon 2 splatfests got reworked in the middle of 2s lifespan
Hopefully.
(The results will be displayed with the actual point totals from each team) and on the 3rd day triad stadium and classic ultra-signal mode open up.
i think the idea of triad stadium is awesome it would also make me more exited for splatfests like the shifty stations did
sooo... anyone capable of sending this video straight to the splatoon3 dev team?
I don't think the game can handle 1 extra player in its current state. The game is already struggling to 60fps with 8 players, plus with all the communication errors at the moment. Hopefully this is not the case but I am doubting that we will see a 3v3v3 mode anytime soon personally.
cool ideas but they’d have to come up with some half assed lore explanation as to why shifty stations returned since marina is on tour and shiver isnt a octarian.
Triad Stadium would be an ancient coliseum the old clans of Shiver Frye and Big Man fought in.
@@thebipedalsquid I kind of hope they don't do a quad color turf war for the next game, I think something more unique might be better for the 4th game
one critique with this one, first 3v3v3 or 2v2v2 breaks the 4/8 player structure and the former requires on additional player character which might not even be possible. but everything else is fucking genius
Don't worry, we have new updates confirmed for 2 years at least.
@@thebipedalsquid yes this is true, but when you remember that this is only 8 seasons it has me worried a little
A triad stadium sounds amazing! Love the concept
Thanks!
agree with everything you say here godd i really wish shifty station could come back in some way. hoping more people see this video 🙏🙏
They are going the right way with tricolor battles, but If they maybe added one more special mode or general special thing to the splatfest and combine it with all modes being playable (If the modes add points to the splatfest itself is nintendos choice), the splatfest would be great.
damn you made me excited for something that doesn't exist lol
It’s their specialty
Yes, yes to everything
Literally everything you said in this video I agree with. I’m so glad there’s someone that agrees that Splatfests are bland
We need Shifty Sations back like Tri Color Shifty Stations. (If they bring rank modes in Splatfests that could be nice), Tri Color is good.
I hope they add it to private battles like they added splatfest turf wars in splat 2
Oh they will 100%
@@thebipedalsquid yeah they definitely wouldn’t make a game mode unplayable just because the events where they took place have ended. I do wonder more though, will they add splatfest turf wars, too?
@@elik.8113 yeah, that's what I mean. Just like what Splatoon 2 did.
If only nintendo knew what they were doing
This is absolutely genius!
I would love that!
Just discovered your channel, super underrated! I really like your video style.
Thanks! Still trying to figure out how all this works lol.
I don't think I've seen a take on tricolor that I could agree with more! I'd do almost anything to have this implemented!
We gotta hijack Nintendo's HQ!
I love those ideas!
I love these ideas!! and man i miss shifty stations so much … :,,)
Its kinda weird that the game obsessed with the number 3 opts for 2v4v2 instead of the logical 3 teams of 3
OMG, I thought I was the only one who had the idea of making a special map (specifically Shifty Stations) for these matches, it feels good to not be alone thinking exactly like that 😭😭
This is literally perfect, you have some absolutely great ideas!!!
I hope splatoon 4 kind of takes a bit from this and has some 2v2v2v2 quad color modes.
Im just hoping for a new ranked battle mode! I also can't wait for the dlc to come out!
My biggest critique for splat 3 0:22
We'll definitely at least get a new ranked mode I'm sure of it
Ultra signal is literally a better turf war because it makes the first 2:30 min meaningful
This is such an amazing idea!! I really wish nintendo would consider something like this but it might not end up happening :(
omg nintendo should hire you, these ideas are so good, holy s**t
I got splatoon 3 on Black Friday, and that day was the first ever time playing splatoon after being in the community for a long while. The next splatfest will be my first splatfest, and I hope it’s a good one. But whatever it will be, I prefer big run better (definitely not based).
THAT'S IT, i'm sending this video to nintendo!
yess this is what I've wanted for it from the beginning
Nice map analysis videos would love to see more of these :)
Thanks!
Saltspray rig from spnoon 1 could work
It's actually funny how well it could work in tricolor
I really wonder if the extra player (3v3v3) is what made the devs settle on tricolor.
Like I wanna believe it possible but I heard from others that it would break the switch.
Shifty Stations are best, they were the best part of Splatoon 2 imo
And I 100% believe that all the Shifty Stations should be available to play during Splatgests.
I really like your ideas for improving the Splatfest, they feel a lot more fun and chaotic compared to the bland options we have now (Chaos good >:))
0:18 Ehem, i think we're forgetting about big run here, just as well, nobody else seems to care about it :')
I didn't forget, it's just that big run is literally the same exact mode but on a different map.
@@thebipedalsquid yeah, it's kinda sad, I wish that there was a cohozuna every shift or there was something new
@@blitz0.8 yeah ikr. Like it was totally fun and did feel a bit special being on Wahoo World, but they really should've added SOMETHING unique to the actual gameplay.
@@thebipedalsquid I totally agree! It would have been a motivator to grind for scales
@@blitz0.8 we should've had a significant scale bonus too
i definitely agree with this
somebody please send this to Nintendo
Triad stadium is a great name
I miss Shifty Stations a loooooott
Splatoon 3's Splatfests isn't quite having that same exciting impact for me despite the Tri-Colour battles being a thing.
I love your Tri-Arenas that feel like Shifty Stations! 😍
I wish this was reality ☹️
better idea: mahi mahi resort with a tower that has the rainmaker checkpoint on it that circles a splat zone and spawns clams with 6 ultra signals in each teams spawn
jk your idea is good
This is a very good analysis and I love your avatar. Let's get this squid to 1000 subscribers

That should be my new name.

These ideas are amazing! Very good video!
Thanks! I really appreciate it.
problem with triad stadium, what if you're queing up with a full squad of friends
Yeah it's a good point, it would probably be how it was with attacking teams before where they just couldn't play tricolor.
Don't quote me on this but I think I might have possibly heard tricolor will be its own this time? Not sure.
Why they give us always the same colors , orange purple and green
Probably harder to have three distinct colors.
Bro how does nobody knows that guy? ( how do you only have 500 subs man wth ???)
Big site lol. I appreciate it!
As somebody who missed Splatoon 1 and 2's splatfests being left to Splatoon 3 splatfests puts a sour (no pun intended) taste in my mouth
At least splatoon 2 gave you a reason to play splatfest with the shifty stations but now its just: hey you wanna play our brand new super rare unbalenced mode (oh and you can't play ranked)
Basically! It kind of feels like we just went back to Splatoon 1's barebone fests.
bring back shifty stations for splatoon 3 turf war ONLY
2:53 nah I don’t think we should have 3v3v3. I mean, everyone already complains about bad connections. We shouldn’t stretch it any more than we do already
Edit: I completely understand the want, but I think it’s productive to point out some counter arguments/possible trade offs. I don’t work at Nintendo as a server specialist or anything, but think it only stands to reason that trying to connect more players with each other will cause more problems, and people already complain about there being too many problems, so I think people will be even less happy
im sure they can handle a single extra player
The ultra signal version should have been the ranked form of it
I subbed great content bro
Thank you!
But who's gonna make the triad stadium?
Deep Cut of course!
people complain about there not being a constant stream of new content but theu forget the game has only been out for 3 and a half months. octo expansion was released almost a WHOLE YEAR after splat 2 launched. im willing to be patient personally, and all the lockers and badges and banners add so much more personalization than was ever available before.
4v4v4 would cause the sploon servers to melt and your switch to implode
Honestly, i feel like tricolour *turf war* is a misleading name to most people. While it IS a turf war mode, there's a BIG objective you need you focus on: Capturing/defending the ultra signal. Me and my friends found that keeping our focus on protecting the signal is the strategy and won most of our games that way. I think it could stay as it is, but just be renamed. The tricolor turf war title should totally become the triangle maps u came up with!
Nintendo please do better im begging y
I totally agree.
I want tri color to just be its own game mode, or another rank mode
Ultra Signal 2-team mode should require invasion of the enemy team, rather than controlling center.
Hmmm… what if the 3v3v3 triad should be open only, and ultra signal should be pro only.
Why?
