    Thanks Adam, another great vid. I guess the big benefit of doing this yourself is you know the holes have been carefully treated with paint to prevent further corrosion. I think your video is exceptional, but there is no way I would be doing this one myself.

    No mention of the diff, gearbox and transfer case breathers? They are the real determinants of wading depth. If they're underwater very bad things can happen. The snorkel can be as tall as you like but until you lift the breather outlets it's a complete waste of time for wading. Still ok for cleaner air tho'

    The A-piller section I would probably use some nut-serts and stainless button head bolts. Then plastic tap in serts are a bit cheap and nasty and they normally dent the piller tapping them in. Otherwise awesome work mate 👌

    Great video mate, very informative and easy to follow. Only thing is that I wouldn't want to get that particular snorkel myself, there's so much modification done to the airbox I didn't know about until now. I'll be sticking to going the stainless route, especially since Fabulous Fabrications makes theirs to use the factory airbox intake

    When I done my pathfinder I taped the whole guard first then marked the tape with the template, then started drilling.
    Also, I'm assuming that the extra "spacer" that you didn't use is to go where the flare is if you have the LSM that has no flares?

    Why don`t you fit the air intake on top of the snorkel not back to front. It stops taking in water when going thru deep water when you get a bit of a head wave going. Other wise great vid. very helpful.

    Great vid as usual and very well explained. I have 1 question though… why do you recommend completely sealing the rubber duckbill drain in the bottom of the air box? Some water can and will get down the snorkel so wouldn’t leaving the factory drain as is working the same?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers mate 👍 Much prefer a proper sealed air box, in my experience those grommet let water straight back in. Get what you're saying though; one of the reasons I'm a fan of the Safari style ram head for draining water away rather than staino pipes. Each to their own though 👍

    Tidy job, but i don't think fitting a snorkel raises the wading depth though. After all, the air intake is already far higher than the actual wading depth. You still have to worry about the alternator, ECU and various electrics, as well as diffs.

    • @roryharper2563
      @roryharper2563 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that big water does mean big problems. Like most new cars, if you leave it stock then the intake is going to suck it up through the smallest crossing

    Hey mate great video, i have a 2018,but its much the same kinda process so keen to give it a go. Did u do a leak test. Heard u cover the ram head with a rag or such and if the engine dies or loses idle speed then the sealing has been correctly done, thus reassuring that it is infact sealed for water ingress.

    Do you drill a hole in the bottom of the airbox so any water that goes through the snorkel can drain out?

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, I sealed the box. There is a 'one way' valve (eg rubber flap) that is designed to that from factory but prefer it sealed from past exp. The safari head is designed to expel water itself

    Hey Adam. Nice video.
    Question for you, what made you go the V spec snorkel over the Armax? I quite like the v spec, as the armax seems huge….and also you dont need to cut the wheel arch flare with the v spec.
    Secondly, did you notice any increase in noise with the snorkel fitted?
    Thanks

    • @VideoShowMeHow
      @VideoShowMeHow  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In short, it wasn't out at the time. But I think I would have still gone with the vspec, perfect size I reckon.. No real noise increase, a little flutter sometimes with the window down but nothing like the drainpipe snorkels

    Snorkels dont provide any benefits re cleaner air as dmax intake is at front grill so unless you're tailgating vehicle in front dust ingress is negligible. As you mentioned ram effect is bs too. Scary drilling into new car.
