It is actually a modified F2 chassis which also made by Dallara. Unlike Formula 2 which uses a V6 by Mecachrome and having DRS system much like F1, Super Formula uses a Turbo I4 provided by Honda & Toyota and they're using OTS / Overtake system (A bit like IndyCar's push to pass).
The sound is much better then F1.^^ But the look is definitly a question of taste. The best looking formular cars in my eyes were the 1991 to 1997 F1 cars and then the 1998 to 2004 F1 cars. After that F1 looked more and more shitty until 2016. Now it's getting better but still to generic in my eyes, because all cars are looking too identical compared to the 90's and early 2000 cars.

SF is still having refueling for pitstops unlike F2, so i guess this is the better solution for them

But the aero is simpler so they are slower on corners. The SF car have a little engine (2.0L) and the power is lower ca 550hp. But they have a low topspeeed at the cost of a good accleration. Topspeed is ca 307kph. The SF car has one great point that make him faster than a F2 car! The Aero of a SF car is stronger and is more similar to a F1 car that means they are faster in corners but the topspeed is lower. A F2 car is almost 10% slower as an F1 car the SF car "just" 7%. That means the Super formula cat is Fastet than a F2 car.

The teams can choose between either Toyota or Honda as their engine suppliers but other than that, it all boils down to settings and driver skill.
What engine do they use? Is it a straight 4 turbo?
2.0 I4 turbo producing 639hp. The same engine they used in Super GT but super formula used DRS
