Yankees - Stroman, Diamondbacks - Montgomery, Mariners - Castillo is the beginning of a rotation. Astros - Pressley as a bullpen piece. Padres - Arraez, Cardinals - Arenado, Red Sox - Yoshida. You get the idea. I was just thinking that you might be able to build a respectable team with the pieces that don’t fit elsewhere.
I think a lot of people have completely forgot about or written off Miguel Bleis. If you ask me I think aside from Christian Campbell he has the highest ceiling among the top 10 prospects. He is an absolute stud and he is a legitimate five tool potential player. I know he has had some injury issues but if this kid manages to put it all together he is going to be an absolute force. I am really excited to see what he can do.

Bloom did exactly what Henry asked him to do and he was their scapegoat. Give Breslow a few more years and if this doesn't work out like they want, he'll be the next scapegoat. He can do the best at what parameters he's given, but Henry is the final boss and he makes the final decisions.
With Duran just split the difference in half and call it a day. That is good news about the farm system. Not only do the Sox have the big 3. They have a number of pitchers ready to contribute. I want to pipeline to continue. I think the Red Sox could be sellers at the trade dead line and be even better after the dead line.

If the difference is 500K or 50K or 5K, that's not the issue. As long as the amount is in line with other deals, pay it. If it were higher, don't.
I would have given Duran more than what he wanted. Considering his performance he is way under paid in my eyes. He is a dynamic player who I love watching. Duran's hitting mechanics are outstanding ... He runs the bases as if his hair was on fire ... He also is a versatile well above average defensive outfielder ... I hope this lousy treatment of one of their key "All Star" performers and a potential future cornerstone of their next World Series championship team does not ultimately come back and bite the Red Sox in their proverbial behind ...

I thought I saw 35 on spotrac. It was just 18 decent named players who didn’t get the deals done. I’m just not at all concerned or care about this whatsoever. Their numbers are so close it seems pretty obvious they’ll get a deal done before the arb hearing and when they do ppl will instantly forget that this was even a thing. It happens every year. The thing with Duran is he’s such an odd case because he’s been up for parts of 4 seasons but he’s a super 2 at 28. Took 2 years to figure out his swing and another year to figure out defense. The number will probably between 3.85-3.9 when they settle. It’s literally just the process teams go through. Sox fans are always ready to sound the alarm for the sky is falling with every perceived misstep the team takes it’s exhausting

When I heard Jarren Duran was going to arbitration I figured maybe the Sox were at $5M and Duran was at $8M. $4M is a steal for your best player, your most exciting player, the tone setter for every other player on the team. The main reason I tuned in at all in 2023 was to watch Duran stretching singles into doubles over and over. That's money right there. Time to pay some back! I may get disagreement on this, but I believe between him and Juan Soto that Duran is the more valuable player. Yet the Red Sox were willing to give Soto $47M a year for 15 years, a few hundred million of which would surely be wasted in his waning years. How much would the "precedent" of an extra $500k cost them in the long run? Just a few million? It makes no sense. It's good business to be the kind of people players want to play for. They may be able to rationalize this low offer as "good business", but it's actually bad business. Don't be cheap, Red Sox!!! Pay him now!!!! Make it quick or risk solidifying your reputation as cheap!

I don't think that they were ever going to honestly pay for Juan Soto. I think they were either trying to appease the fans by acting like they were going to throw over a half a billion dollars at him or it was to up the price for whoever was going to sign him. Either way it was a waste of time. But I am also glad they didn't spend that kind of money on him. I just don't think he is worth that kind of money. He is good but I just don't think he is a once in a lifetime or a generational talent. There are plenty of players in MLB who put up similar numbers who are not going to pay nowhere near that amount of money.
I'm going to take a page out of your book, I am not as concerned yet with Duran. It could be they are trying to do a longer term contract with him and buy out his arbitration years, and are trying to stay at a lower base to do so. Yesterday when you talked about the others who signed and how they came in under what they probably should have gotten, you mentioned that is what this process is all about for the Owners, get the players signed for as low as you can, this can be applied here too. However let's see where this one goes before getting too upset. On a side note are you surprised they are nickel and diming players, they have decided to not spend money anymore over the last 4 years now and until they do this is the new normal for them. It is awesome that the Farm is as good as it has been in a very long time, it will be interesting to see how many of these players can come up and become the high end talent that we expect. Can you either do a video or at least get some stats on what the percent is for how many prospects who are highly ranked actually live up to that in the Majors. I was afraid this was going to happen with Duran. Being cheap with your best players is a bad look for so many reasons, especially if you are trying to convince free agents to sign with you. Duran has a fragile psyche as it is. This could negatively affect his performance this year if they go to arb.

I just don't think giving Alex Bregman an 8-year 150 million + contract is a good idea. Especially when we have so much infield talent right on the cusp of being MLB ready. If we could get Alex for 5 or 6 years I think that would probably be worth it just for the playoff veteran leadership experience alone. But we simply can't invest 8 years and 200 million into a player who is already arguably declining.

Duran's hitting mechanics are outstanding ... He runs the bases as if his hair was on fire ... He also is a versatile well above average defensive outfielder ... I hope this lousy treatment of one of their key "All Star" performers and a potential future cornerstone of their next World Series championship team does not ultimately come back and bite the Red Sox in their proverbial behind ...

I have reservations about the Red Sox ownership and the way that they manipulate players contract. It diminishes their loyalty to the franchise. I thought I saw 35 on spotrac. It was just 18 decent named players who didn’t get the deals done. I’m just not at all concerned or care about this whatsoever. Their numbers are so close it seems pretty obvious they’ll get a deal done before the arb hearing and when they do ppl will instantly forget that this was even a thing. It happens every year. The thing with Duran is he’s such an odd case because he’s been up for parts of 4 seasons but he’s a super 2 at 28. Took 2 years to figure out his swing and another year to figure out defense. The number will probably between 3.85-3.9 when they settle. It’s literally just the process teams go through. Sox fans are always ready to sound the alarm for the sky is falling with every perceived misstep the team takes it’s exhausting

When I heard Jarren Duran was going to arbitration I figured maybe the Sox were at $5M and Duran was at $8M. $4M is a steal for your best player, your most exciting player, the tone setter for every other player on the team.
The main reason I tuned in at all in 2023 was to watch Duran stretching singles into doubles over and over. That's money right there. Time to pay some back!
I may get disagreement on this, but I believe between him and Juan Soto that Duran is the more valuable player. Yet the Red Sox were willing to give Soto $47M a year for 15 years, a few hundred million of which would surely be wasted in his waning years. How much would the "precedent" of an extra $500k cost them in the long run? Just a few million? It makes no sense.
It's good business to be the kind of people players want to play for. They may be able to rationalize this low offer as "good business", but it's actually bad business.

I don't think that they were ever going to honestly pay for Juan Soto. I think they were either trying to appease the fans by acting like they were going to throw over a half a billion dollars at him or it was to up the price for whoever was going to sign him. Either way it was a waste of time. But I am also glad they didn't spend that kind of money on him. I just don't think he is worth that kind of money. He is good but I just don't think he is a once in a lifetime or a generational talent. There are plenty of players in MLB who put up similar numbers who are not going to pay nowhere near that amount of money.
I'm going to take a page out of your book, I am not as concerned yet with Duran. It could be they are trying to do a longer term contract with him and buy out his arbitration years, and are trying to stay at a lower base to do so. Yesterday when you talked about the others who signed and how they came in under what they probably should have gotten, you mentioned that is what this process is all about for the Owners, get the players signed for as low as you can, this can be applied here too. However let's see where this one goes before getting too upset. On a side note are you surprised they are nickel and diming players, they have decided to not spend money anymore over the last 4 years now and until they do this is the new normal for them. It is awesome that the Farm is as good as it has been in a very long time, it will be interesting to see how many of these players can come up and become the high end talent that we expect. Can you either do a video or at least get some stats on what the percent is for how many prospects who are highly ranked actually live up to that in the Majors. I know it isn't as high as people think, so if we get 2 of all of these players becoming like that we can be happy and if there are more we can really be happy! Nice job on the Video.
Yeah maybe maybe that is the idea I just think it’s bad optics. And it’s about 10% of minor leaguers make in in MLB 1% stay for more than 1.5 years. But that is skewed when it comes to these top guys they are a bit better

I have given up trying to understand Sox Ownership - most of what they do ends of blowing up in their face, and deservedly so. This offseason they have made so much noise about pursuing Soto, Fried, Burns, etc. but it was all a charade. They should sell - we deserve better ownership.

I was afraid this was going to happen with Duran. Being cheap with your best players is a bad look for so many reasons, especially if you are trying to convince free agents to sign with you. Duran has a fragile psyche as it is. This could negatively affect his performance this year if they go to arb.

I just don't think giving Alex Bregman an 8-year 150 million + contract is a good idea. Especially when we have so much infield talent right on the cusp of being MLB ready. If we could get Alex for 5 or 6 years I think that would probably be worth it just for the playoff veteran leadership experience alone. But we simply can't invest 8 years and 200 million into a player who is already arguably declining.
