For anyone curious, PAWS Atlanta is still open and is doing extremely well! This episode is over 13 years old, the transformation has been phenomenal :)
One person I follow who does a lot of shelter work and who helps lots of homeless dogs find homes, gives them dogs day out, fires the videos of buying everything a shelter dog touches and just loves dogs is Rocky Takanaka. He even owns a dog bakery and shares dog safe recipes to make for your dog
It's also worth mentioning that sometimes potential adopters don't take the steps to let their dogs meet properly. The dog me and my bf recently adopted was all but blacklisted and needed to be put in a "single pet household", with only one other person showing interest within the seven months he was at the shelter. Turns out, he just had no issues. He was loving to our young pomeranian, our senior great pyrenees lab mix, our senior dachshund, and and our young adult pitbull beagle mix. He's still an angel, never tried anything, never worried us. All it took was once rushed introduction to just about ruin his life. He waited over half a year, sure more take a lot longer, but this little guy was so stressed out in that life, he chewed on his cage till most his front teeth just wore down to nothing. He needs soft chews toys and food, that's all he needed. He didn't even care about our two cats, he also just happened to be absolutely wonderful with kids, going as far as to play soccer his own little way with the boys. I was scared my bf's dream dog would've been a nightmare, even skipped over his profile several times due to the warning. I'm glad we gave him a chance. We actually drove over four hours to meet him, left that same day with him. He is just about the best dog we could've found, all while being "unfit for households with pets or children".
What does that tell you???? The dog shelters and the "so called" experts don't have a CLUE what they are doing, when you, just being a loving family and not "professional" dog trainers were able to make a good life for the dog. Congratulations to you!!!
@@samwdavis That is just so not true. Especially for shelters which have limited time for unlimited amount of all kinds of animals. Maybe they didn't have the time to make sure, that dog was unfit for other pets and children. To blame this on one station alone won't solve it at all. The pet problem can only be solved by getting all humans to be more responsible with pets. To improve the actual situation it should be more accessible to help shelters out. But only accepting the most perfect helpers is not so helpful. Same goes for forever homes and foster homes. But on the long run people should learn to be responsible with pets. They are not furniture. They are living beings as well. But I for myself won't expect responsibility for pets when people can't even be responsible with children of their own kind.
@@Vampirzaehnchen They had Chance for over 7 months, they whole heartedly believed he was a friendly and fit dog to have in a full family that included both pets and children. The issue came from the woman who failed to introduce him properly to her other dog, legally they had to mark him as a single household dog to protect them from any legal action if things did go south. They have to get the dogs in and out as quickly as possible, it’s when hiccups like with Chance’s previous would be adopter that puts a heavy price on the shelter. that happened to me.We adopted a little rednose pibble who had previously been used as a bait dog and they said she'd never be good with kids, cats, other dogs, etc etc. Her last several years of life were spent with her best friend, a cat named sunny (who had kittens, who bonnie protected with her LIFE), my sister's baby daughter, who loved bonnie for the 7 years we had her, and *my* other dog. I had no idea LOWES did this! Wonderful! It is not difficult to see how this organization was overwhelmed and discouraged. Atlanta is a vibrant city, and a ready source of great volunteers. victorias vision and ability to activate community is helping so many animals!
I'm talking about good deed, not about money. I'm saying that company who gave money to shelter, could have done it earlier... this is typical...we think that philantops are good people, but most of times they give something out of publicity...to be known...not because they want to help
@@rutajanu1929 I mean, yes, in an ideal world more people would donate because they want to help. However, at the end of the day the money is going to a good place. . .if that means someone gets five minutes of publicity that no one is going to remember ten minutes later. . .there are worse things in the world to quibble about. A lot of major companies do in fact have charity funds. You do however have to typically apply and get the ball rolling, and they have their own legal loopholes to go through. I'm sure Victoria's staff/production team was the real reason the donation happened all. Most shelter don't have the local pull to get someone on the staff of those companies to get the ball in their court. Should those companies do more? Ideally, yes. . .but this is the reality of the world we live. . .publicity is a small price to pay for a shelter getting a major renovation that has allowed it to continue operating to this day. Many local run shelters fail fairly quickly. . .and just as often the fault of those managing them as lack of funds.
I can't say enough about Victoria! Her ability working with dogs AND people is stunning! She has an extraordinary understanding of dogs,. And I could binge-watch one episode after another of It's Me or the Dog!!
As they say "no dog is untrainable" and this episode proved that the ABSOLUTE truth! Sinatra is such a beautiful dog!! THOSE EYES!! I was so happy that the previous adopter was willing to give him another chance. Wonderful lady!! I REALLY COMMEND the staff for their love for those poor dogs who were abandoned by their original owners. WELL DONE TO THEM ALL and to Victoria for helping them in time of need. This by far is my favourite episode!
I'm literally crying while watching this. 😢 Hopefully, these lovely dogs will find their home soon. And Godbless these kind-hearted people 🙏. Godbless the organization 🙏
I lost count of how many times i cried during episode, tears of sadness and joy, both. I wish we had our local Victoria to do the same magic here in Latvia. We have 1 really successful shelter, but the rest are just invisible 😢
My heart is breaking for these pups, my dog I’ve had 11 yrs is snuggled up to me laid on my bed snoring. She’s a Jack Russell mix and I’m so lucky to share my life with her ❤
This is an incredible transformation. I wept watching this video because I think the shelter staff has their hearts in the right place. I'm glad Victoria could help this shelter and the animals.
I think Victoria can be a bit much at times. However, I really appreciate the work she does. And it was beautiful to see this transformation. God is so good. I’m glad they aren’t putting down healthy animals. That makes my heart warm. Additionally, I’m so happy for the dogs who were adopted. It just goes to show what a little love and care can do.
I was so depressed in the beginning but Victoria, you made us smile with wet eyes. Your efforts in turning this place into a lively shelter are just remarkable! I wish I was there with my animal lover daughter you to help PAWS Atlanta! Wish you all the very best!!! Cheers! 💕

It's kinda fun y how a dog shelter has an overweight cat. 😂 of course it's not so funny for the cat as obesity cause problems so that cat can't really be a cat.. It's more a couch potato
