The hands Daniel is most probably gonna lead the flop with and then check the turn, are 66, 44, AJ, KJ suited even, so she is beat by more combos than she beats, per se the only combos she beats is AK, AQ, KQ, TT mostly, so yea, I'd say that this is a good fold.

    Someone with better poker knowledge than me explain why Jennings folded A9 here? I'm not saying he made a bad choice, I just genuinely can't wrap my head around why he wouldn't pay to see the flop. Is it because he went first?

    My goodness... Hellmuth folding pocket pairs? Not even set-mining or reraising as a semi-bluff? He plays WAY too tight.
    Edit: he raised with 77, but folded 99? Odd.

    • @michaeljacyna1973
      @michaeljacyna1973 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Maybe his position for those hands were different and action before him was different? Did someone push? Is he big stack or short stack? I dunno, I didn't see the whole thing yet, but it's always situational. I also kind of hate myself for giving Hellmuth the benefit of the doubt.

    • @liamnevilleviolist1809
      @liamnevilleviolist1809 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaeljacyna1973 Yeah, someone bet before him, that's all. But still: Phil says he's "known for his reads" so surely he would be able to know his pair is better than the other player's?
      His play seems to be all over the place these days.
      As I commented again, Phil shoved with 77. If you're shoving with 77 but not calling an all-in with 99 ... what's the difference? Would AA really shove for example?

    • @nickeastmusic9930
      @nickeastmusic9930 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@liamnevilleviolist1809 the difference is that you need a better hand to call than to shove as you have no fold equity when calling. Also how would phil be able to know if his pair is better than the other players pair? Poker works with ranges and not with guessing exact cards.

    • @michaeljacyna1973
      @michaeljacyna1973 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@liamnevilleviolist1809 Yeah calling and shoving with the same hand is completely different. And depending on what has happened before me, sometimes I'm not willing to put X amount in for what is either being dominated or coin flip at best. It also depends on what stage of the tourney you're in, what players youre up against in the hand, your stack, and your position. Again, each time is not the same and it's always situational. Not only that, being "all over the place" is usually a good thing, as you need to vary your aggressiveness from time to time. Being to predictable is bad.
      Once again by way of PSA...I hate myself for essentially siding with Hellmuth.

    "Yeah but an Occulus is only $300"
    Do you know what $300 is to the average American?? That's 1/4 of their rent -- which is already 1/2 their income. $300 *is* a significant luxury expense to anyone making under $50k a year -- which is half the country. So no, we are not close to the average person living any part of their life in VR. The wealthy? Sure.

    It’s a shame Phil is such a knob, he has a fascinating poker brain and that plays off Daniels really well. Dude can’t keep his ego out of the way though, or his tantrums. Plays with an overwhelming air of arrogance where he believes every hand is his to win by right.
