Classical Poets: Bulleh Shah: Dr Manzur Ejaz with Wajid Ali Syed

Baba Bulleh Shah was a Punjabi Sufi poet, humanist and philosopher. He lived in the same period as the Sindhi Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhatai, renowned Punjabi poet Waris Shah and Sachal Sarmast. Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir was also his contemporary. In his Kafi style poetry Bulleh Shah strongly criticizes religious orthodoxy.
Corrections:
- Aurangzeb's sons who fought were Muazzam, Azam, Akbar, Muhammad Sultan and Kambakhsh. Muazzam became the undisputed ruler.

Well done. Bulleh Shah is heads and shoulders above the other poet-philosophers of the last one thousand years. It is difficult to find words to praise him. He should be taught in all the schools and colleges of India and Pakistan.

Greath thing is saint poets like Bulleh Shah sung in many Indian languages, I get goosebumps hearing them preach the same things....self knowledge, protesting misleading ritualism across the subcontinent, Putting god back in people's hearts from places of worship.

" This Wahhabi way of thinking is exactly what Bulleh Shah was preaching but you missed the point. Out of respect for Bulleh Shah I will not challenge your naive statement. Sometimes it is better not to open ones mouth and look foolish.

wahabi teaching is supremacy...I~ disagree he was head and shoulders over everyone else, perhaps amongst his contemporaries but not universally... have you heard of Baba Farid, Kabir or Baba Nanak? How was he head and shoulder above them?
