New Classical Poets: Shiv Kumar Batalvi

- Shiv Kumar Batalvi was a Punjabi language poet, who was most known for his romantic poetry, noted for its heightened passion, pathos, separation and lover's agony. He became the youngest recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1967, given by Sahitya Akademi (India's National Academy of Letters), for his epic verse play based on the ancient legend of Puran Bhagat, Loona (1965).
His poetry stands in equal footing, amongst that by stalwarts of modern Punjabi poetry, like Mohan Singh (poet) and Amrita Pritam, all of whom are popular on both sides of India-Pakistan border.
ਜੋ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਬਟਾਲਵੀ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਬੁਰੀ ਅਲੋਚਨਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਿਵ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਦੇ ਅੰਬਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਚਮਕੀਲਾ ਤਾਰਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਹੇਗਾ।

Hats off for Dr Manzur Ejaz. Many punjabies on indian side have forgotten names of some classic poets of past like Qadir Yaar, Kashta, Hafiz, Shah Hussain, Hashim Shah. Very difficult to find their poetry online. Some of them are not even available on Google. But after watching videos of Dr. Manzur Ejaz we are able to know about them. We must have poetry of these great poets with us if we want punjabi language to survive in india.

I have seen this video several times and i came to an opinion that Dr.Ejaz would never be able to explain his literature artwork he possessed. Rather like most others act more like in condolence.
