    Still enjoyed the movie, I just feel like I needed to say what I was thinking. It was 10x better than The Last Jedi and that's the most important thing, is they took a step in the right direction with this film. Going to do a few more videos on RoS and I just got Jedi Fallen Order and I just started playing through on the hardest difficulty so wish me luck! Hope you're all being safe in quarantine btw! :)

    I think they really got Palps wrong in the Sequels. I always thought Palpatine, while being completely evil and very selfish, always intended to train an apprentice to carry on the legacy of the Sith. That’s what he intended to do with Anakin-until Anakin was horribly maimed. Palpatine then saw Luke, who had the potential to become a great Sith. That’s why he wanted Luke to strike him down. But no...all along he wanted to be the lone Sith?! So then what did he mean when he said to Yoda “Darth Vader will become more powerful than either of us!”

      @@sibsart2039 It is as if disney had made someone in charge who never even watched the original trilogy or hated it. Luke Skywalker was the face of hope, he was our hero. In the sequels he was made a looser who eventually said I was wrong, sorry. Even Mark Hamill said, who is this guy? The prequels gave a clear progression of how the empire came to be. But in the sequels nothing changed. Empire's back at the rebels are fighting them. By bringing Darth Sidious back it completely rewrites or writes over the story of the one and only Chosen One Anakin Skywalker fulfilling the prophecy by killing the ultimate Evil in the galaxy and bring him peace and balance back to the force. If you consider the Disney trilogy it completely destroys the chosen one story. And the Sith cannot achieve eternal life it's written in the book Revenge of the Sith novelisation and the comic adaptation as well as it being touched upon in the Clone Wars. They can prolong their lives like Darth Maul did because none of his major internal organs were destroyed. Just like how Darth Sidious can prolong his life by the time we get to return to the Jedi he's into his hundreds and he's still extremely powerful and he's not going anywhere until Anakin fulfills the prophecy. This is why I love that whole “multiverse” that like superhero movies have, but it’s done in a smaller and simpler way. Someone came up with the thought that the sequels are in another universe where asoka dies during her battle with Vader. Pretty much saying that the spilt off happen there and using the “world between worlds” idea again, which I thought they were never gonna use again, and let me tell you..after watching that video and doing some of my own research, it makes so much sense that the sequels can in fact be in a completely different universe and timeline than the original and it starts at the batter between Vader and Asoka. I’m telling you, if you watch some of the videos covering that theory and do some of your own research, I promise that it will make complete sense and it doesn’t it effect any of the previous movies/shows. I loved that idea and I’m sticking to it, because it really does help fix what Disney destroyed.

    There's definitely something that Disney did that kind of breaks the immersion, The flashback with Luke and Leia. Up until this point I don't think we've ever seen a flashback in the show or films. They were always looking forward, in the form of visions of the future, but never the past. Now that one force ability to see the history of an object is slightly different when it comes to the context it could be used.

    Disney basically ripped off a section of Legends continuity while continuing to use Mary Sue as the social justice narrative poster girl.
    In Legends, Palpatine did come back after his apparent death at Vader's hands and he did try to restart his Empire from beyond the reach of the New Republic. It's revealed that he's died before, and used cloning to maintain his immortality, but clone bodies aren't able to hold the massive power that he possesses. Just like in ROTJ, he was entirely focused on Luke; he viewed his power as a threat, but as he is drawn to power, he wanted it under his control. Seeing how Luke never suffered the injuries Vader did, he had the potential to have the power Anakin did, and Palpatine desired that immensely. Tired of using clone bodies that would decay again and again, Palpatine wanted to possess Leia's child, as a Skywalker body would be able to contain his full power without dying. It took the combined power of Luke and Leia, the heirs of the Chosen One, to turn Palpatine's power on himself and finally destroy him.
    I do think that was a great story arc for Palpatine, as we don't get a full viewing of his true power in ROTJ, and we see how all along, he wanted to ensure his rule was an eternal one. Palpatine disobeyed the principles of the Rule of Two, where his teachings would be passed down to a stronger apprentice. But Palpatine intended to make sure his rule was absolute, and his 'apprentices' were nothing more than his servants.
    But this? Ignoring the rest of the slow motion train wreck that is TROS (like why there's a sith cult when there was only two sith), there was so much potential with Palpatine and Rey facing off. It could have been an epic lightsaber duel between Palpatine, Kylo and Rey, using the Force, or even the spirits of the Jedi helping Rey defeat Palpatine. Instead all we got was a rip off from Avengers Endgame.

As much as I loved the OT and prequels, i’m tired of just seeing the same group of people doing absolutely everything with the same 2 cameos pop up every once in a while. Give us some star wars movies that brings a bunch of different Jedi’s together. Imagine seeing the stories of a bunch of different Jedi’s who all trained in the academy go off on their individual adventures and at the same time a Sith Academy (like in star wars KoTOR game) having massive lightsaber fights as well as smaller ones would be awesome as we’ve seen 1v1 lightsaber fights way too many times, space it out a bit!

      They should have given Rey her own villain and accomplishments rather than undoing the classic heroes to give her the kill of the big bad. Its just cheapening the old movies to make the new ones seem important. Which i find extremely disrespectful

    Ok I don’t know why it seems nobody online has said this yet, but Disney could have easily kept Snoke alive by revealing the Snoke in the throne room was a force projection. I mean, they’d have to dance around a little bit with how he was able to project himself cut in half, and long enough for them to find his body, but I feel like it still would have been better than Palpatine coming back. Plus, Like was able to project himself differently than he actually looked so I feel like it’s possible. It kind of makes sense too if he was already having iffy feelings about Kylo and was anticipating him to probably turn on him at some point. But I don’t know, I feel like it’s better than what we got and was literally introduced in the movie so why not use it?

    I mean, Palpatine doesn't exactly have to be "intimate" with anyone so much as take what he wanted. Morals aren't exactly his thing and the empire does seem to have a thing for engaging with slavery and locking women up.
    It'd be like the conspiracy about Nazi military experiments to birth gorilla based supersoldiers. Just... using an old guy with zap hands.
    I think Rey should have been a direct project by Palpatine while he was alive in the flesh, one of those experiments. Either frozen, carbonited, or not actually born yet but the materials all remained, frozen embryos, eggs, Palpatine juice, or the parents could have been the experiments and she's a second generation from one of the few that were fertile. The clones may not have been the intention in the first place, knowing that as an artificially created being the Force wouldn't come to them or something, but if Palpatine could make the desired clones, their offspring would be connected to the force.
    Then you could have the Palpatine plotline by making Snoke the body that Palpatine possessed, the old body outright gone. Don't reveal Snokes face until the end of the second movie and don't see him in person until the third where we see that as consequence of the original series, he is limited and doesn't have a proper connection to the force and is relying on the sith cult we see, everything he's doing are work arounds thanks to his knowledge and collection of artifacts from that sith world, using sith artifacts and the cult to work dark side powers to manipulate things from that base.
    Exegal shouldn't have that one limp dick cloud blocking that one particular spot in the sky that somehow makes it hard to find, it should be in the black hole vortex place we see in... Solo I think, or abandon that idea entirely and just have it be really far away and the planet shouldn't have an atmosphere at all, but it's a giant dead planet that's been hollowed out so you have a Hollow Earth inside of it where the giant sith temple is at the heart of. But instead of some lush paradise or dino land like most Hollow Earth depictions, it's a giant forge world with an isolated molten core suspended with lava flows all around, and slave labor visibly working all over with machines and machinations similar to what we see with Mordor, a twisted slave race emulating demons- The planet gives a visual theme of hell or purgatory. In some places throughout the concave interior of the horizon curving up and inward, you see tons of shipyards where you have docked NEW Star Destroyer models that look like the classic triangle shape but with a large sphere in the center similar to those droid space stations mixed with star destroyers mixed with death stars. So small mini death star destroyers the size of capital ships, with THREE "Crater" dishes instead of one. Instead of a planet destroying beam, we see the three dishes release essentially mega-nukes in repeated succession, each one around as destructive as the "partial charge" shot we see the death star do in Rogue One. So no more bullcrap overdone popping planets like firecrackers, a different threat of glassing the surface of a planet instead, and a more effective weapon overall as it can be used against enemy fleets effectively.
    No "Thousands" of destroyers, but maybe a good dozen or so with the signs of a hundreds more being built plus many other ships in general.
    Then in the final act there should be a full scale HIVE swarm of tie fighters emerging from all over the shellworld inside and out to oppose the incoming fleet of "Good guys" rallied as part of the movie or trilogy overall's story arc and we see the biggest space battle in all on-screen sci fi, the death destroyers not able to fire their main cannons while within the shell world or it would cause havoc on the industrial factories within it, so we see the mobilize to leave the planet and part of the plot is to try to prevent them from leaving, which ultimately a few would so we see how the heroes have to react or not to that, and potentially have to stand by and not risk a routing or letting even more escape or get built by pulling back from the shell world, as at least one of the death destroyers glasses a planet and we don't see what happens to the other(s) that escaped.
    Then we see Palpatine succeed (like he did but it isn't shown or acknowledge in the movie...) in getting Rey to kill him, and he takes her body. He/she now has access to the force again, and turns the inside of the shellworld into one of those plasma ball toys/lights as the Republic (It's stupid to call them Resistance or Rebels, they took power at the end of the first trilogy) implements a plan to destabilize the core timed with the striking of a WMD into the core itself, causing the core to explode outward in a wave against the shellworld's interior factories and searing Ray-Palpatine in a mirror image of Anakin's burning, having been confronted by Kylo and the Knights of Ren during this time (As a third faction- Empire, Order, and Republic), and now with Kylo standing over her as Obi-Wan stood over Anakin and he is confronted with the image of what the Dark Side leads to, the destruction, chaos, and unbridled hatred, how it is ultimately weak and pathetic in the end to have lost ones self so far, the self destruction. After the plot arc of the attempts to bring him back from the dark side over the course of the trilogy by Rey, and Rey being the one to fall like this (albeit not of her own free will), it's the breaking point where Kylo rejects the dark side. As Palpatine refers to him as Kylo, he speaks through him to Rey, rejecting the name and saying he's Ben, then uses Rey's - Luke's saber to execute Palpatine and give Rey a mercy in releasing her from the possessed body and allowed to move on as a force ghost, in the same moment we see Anakin, Luke (if he still dies in this timeline), and Obi-Wan.
    Ben then returns to Leia (and Han if still alive in this timeline) to announce the death of Kylo, Palpatine, and Rey, but he embraces them, and says the First Order will negotiate peace and work on making amends for war crimes and damages. Theoretically nobody but Leia, Luke, Han, and a few others would know that Ben was Kylo, giving him a bit of an out but he could maintain a different alternate identity in leading the First Order into penance and reassimilation into the Republic.

    [EDIT] Just saw a video on this and really wanted to share it! Palpatine coming back DOES NOT RUIN THE SKYWALKER SAGA!!!! The sequels are bad but they don’t mess this bad just hear me out. Anakin being the chosen one didn’t mean he was going to destroy the sith but fix the jedi. Obi and Yoda were close minded and were never able to realize that Anakin was right about feelings and all those stuff basically he came to put them into the original jedi plan. This makes sense with Rey teaching a new generation of Jedi. But I do think that Palpatine back kinda lowered Anakin arc but not abt he being the chosen one

    He never had a family who loved him, and he spent his entire existence hinging on power.
    It comes full circle, and we’d be convinced he’s not coming back.

    Hate to do the “actually...”, but the whole killing the sith lord in anger to become the next sith is actually pretty embedded in Star Wars “Legends”. It actually was what Vader was doing in Return if the Jedi. That’s been the common understanding since before then new trilogy, even since before the rule of two. If you strike the Sith Lord down in anger, you become the new Sith Lord. Vader (I guess Anakin) didn’t want to see his son get engulfed by the dark side like what happened to him, so he killed Palp instead, therefore protecting Luke from dark side corruption. The rest of your video I pretty much agree with though.
    Edit: this comes from a lot of pre-new trilogy and pre-Disney books that were previously cannon before big o’l Disney came along.

    • @markrobinson9394
      @markrobinson9394 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Michael is referring to the fact that Palpatine claimed his soul would take over Rey's body once she struck him down. They're trying to justify that by saying Palpatine would have done the same to Luke, but this was never even hinted prior to ROS.
      But Disney wrote themselves into a corner with that detail, because Rey struck him down anyway. So why did Palpatine's soul not enter Rey's body?
      More importantly, if Palpatine's end goal is to take over Rey's body, why is he trying to kill her wiith force lightning?
      So many contradictions. It's like no care what put into the story whatsoever.

  • @tehyacreates5496
    @tehyacreates5496 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    They should’ve made hints throughout the entire trilogy if they truly wanted it to work. But honestly, I just hate the ending in general. Palpatene should’ve rotted in the Fiery pits of hell where he belonged, Kylo should’ve lived like in the books, and they should’ve just have a different director too! Yes, some of his work was really good and I enjoyed while the movies lasted, but they were so unresolved and unsatisfying

    Disney legit thought that Star Wars was “too big to fail.” Why else would they not plan everything out all at once? They thought they could just hire people to make movies without any regard for continuity or tone and expect it to turn out ok. When they realized that wasn’t going to work they had to go into full damage control and bring back the last piece of the OT that they could, The Emperor.

  • @sciguyjeff
    @sciguyjeff 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    End question - Palpatine was brought back in the Dark Empire series, being explained that he had a series of clones that he constantly transferred into because flesh does not support the great energy of the dark side. Personally, think they should have made the next movie at least more about the original heroes and the rest of the First Order and fall of the Republic and the Jedi academy. Movie 2 could have started where this trilogy started. Edit the last two, drop Palpatine or used Snipe (or whatever his name is) as a surviving but severely injured Palpatine

    Honestly I think if they did make a new movie the Audience make a clone like smoke like how they gave him the force and storm troopers start turning to the light so the new snoke reactivates the droids (I prefer the sepretest over the first order) but the droids are different and like the new snoke has his own fighting style (to introduce a new form) and he’s like very tactical.I don’t know how I feel about this and I doubt anyone will read this but I feel like this may even been a better version of the movies with ray I also like the idea of keeping snoke and he being the real bad guy the whole time.

      30 years ago (from 2021) is correct. He died in the comics in early 1992. The idea went over well enough back then, it had a good fleshed out story to it. It was cannon (everything was at that time), but it was obvious he wasn't coming back a 3rd time. It was short lived, he returned, he tried, they "Nah Bruh you gotta go back to the land of the dead." I understand Ol' Palps might or might not be able to return according to the R of S book or some such. God I hope not.

Arguing about what actually happened in the timeline regardless if you like it or not is wasting time. Imo canon is only decided in the head of an individual. I think bringing back palpatine turns the skywalker saga into the palpatine saga, the story of how the palpatines created and used the skywalkers to become the most powerful force entity ever. It also turns Mary Rey into the chosen one (because she kills palpatine).
    They should have named the movie the rise of palpatine...
    I think the disney trashology is so bad, I cannot even accept it as canon. And as long as it canon I am boycotting disney fincancially.
    Hopefully Kathleen Kennedy is gone next year and feloni, feige and Lucas are allowed to repair star wars...

    Rey: “Oh no, I can’t block properly with just one lightsaber... hang on, I have two lightsabers”
