    This module is so classically Gygax that it is the GW equivalent of The Keep on the Borderlands ... in almost every way. I love this module!

      Agree with that assessment. If GW has a "Keep" this is it.

    I remember the story about the gold armored guy on the cartoon. I think it is such a connection point for this element and thank you for remembering to bring it up. Wonderful memories from this game and I appreciate you brought those memories back to me. Thank you for that and everything.

      The destruction hammered by the Lake Beast [it's got a mini write up, in a Dragon mag ] is what really made me pause, as a GM. It's hard to imagine androids experiencing fear, but it's nice to know 4 or 5 androids getting eaten with 1 bite is just one of those cool in-game occurrences.

    I'm old so I played this game when it first came out. I skipped the provided map and made my own regions (secretly) in northern south America, so the players couldn't guess where military bases were located. Good times!

    Even though the module was only 31 pages long it packed enough info for an entire campaign which I what I used it for .
    I even expanded the leigon if gold base to include a large underground area that had vehicle maintenance area along with a supply room filled with parts for the vehicles there ( 2 hover jeeps , a hover tank and a hover transport bus ) that needed fixing .
    My players love it

    I'm glad to see Mutant Crawl mentioned. I ran a full conversion for MCC of Legion and Famine which by the end we were running on our own story fighting Tetraplex who had installed himself in the La Prix facility.
    By the end, we were fighting an army of Mutant fox clones with an army of androids modeled after one of our players who discovered he was actually an android.
    Good times, most fun we've ever had storytelling.

    I remember running this as a kid back in the dark ages;-). It was one of the very few 'sandbox' type adventures TSR published in the era (Secret of Bone Hill I think was another one I can remember) and it provided enough details to springboard a campaign for a fledgling GM (iirc I was 12 when I ran this). If I remember there is a pretty hefty amount of high speed tech loot to be found in this (a suit of power armor stands out in memory) but Gamma World also had a tendency to be extremely deadly.
    Well worth a look and it was a lot of fun for my friends and I.

    • @smokedbeefandcheese4144
      @smokedbeefandcheese4144 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s very true about it being deadly. I think there was an article in dragon magazine where they compared some of the war bots from gamma world not sure which addition to some of the gods from ADnD and the war robots were no slouch like they might be able to take down a god or two depending on how many you could roll in Which just goes to show how dangerous it is. Compared to the other monsters in the game

    Gamma World fans should check out Mutant Epoch from Outland Arts. It's an old school style science fantasy RPG for the 21st century. Even better than GW, in my opinion.

    There's a traditional roguelike on steam called Caves of Qud I've been pretty into for years, and I had heard a handful of people point out that it's heavily inspired by Gamma World so I finally just recently went and found the rulebook for 4th edition Gamma World and am planning to do a small campaign with friends in it. I really love the setting and just how wild it is. I'd love to see you do more videos talking about GW modules, seems like it's not very well known, and it's hard to find a lot of youtube videos about it.

    I've got loads of Gamma world 2nd 3rd and 4th edition stuff (the best editions). It's great had so much fun as a kid. I dunno if you've done Star Frontiers but that's like it's space opera sci-fi sibling and I have all the stuff for that.

      Deep rabbit hole to start down. EPT is easy enough to deal with (and easily bought on DTRPG) but then there's all the other versions of RPGs and minis games set in Tekumel to look at. What are we up to, seven or eight "official" rule sets now and who knows how many fan efforts? Only settings I can think of that even come close to matching it in terms of depth of content are Glorantha, Harn, and maybe Traveller.
