Soooo many restaurants do this. With their way overpriced alcohol drinks that they have their own menu for. Super expensive drinks that sometimes are crap too. Depending on the restaurant. I do like red lobster a lot. They have good mixed drinks where I have been before. They don't overly advertise their booze like many chains do.

@loveafrica9253 we’re not comparing accolades, we’re comparing how they critique and that’s a fine comparison to make. Just because I have several degrees doesn’t mean that I can’t be compared to someone who lacks the same credentials as me. Gordon knows how to cook. No one is a professional eater and even IF they are, we all have different taste buds so there’s no way of being “qualified” to be a food critic which is why THOUSANDS of social media influencers do the same thing Lieth does but Keith seems to be the only one getting backlash because he’s “too honest” and doesn’t want to settle for old, tasteless, disgusting food. Anyone with a mouth and tongue can be a food critic, you don’t need a certification for that, clearly. The judges at the Olympics are a prime example. Do they have the actual knowledge of what they’re judging from a personal perspective or are they hired to be non biased for a job.

@pleasedtomeetyou1284 IMO That's incorrect @ no one is qualified to be a food critic. Yes, we all can be food critics...and are. However, some chefs have very wide sophisticated palates. They eat food from all over the world and are trained to recognize a wide arrange of flavors, textures, etc. That does not mean that if a renowned chef says something taste good that Im going to like it, but It's the the difference between me giving my opinion on wine and a sommelier giving their opinion. One is just the opinion of someone who eats and drinks and the other is the opinion of a proven professional with a deep base of knowledge in that arena. Food experts work just like any other expert.

You can prepare food without gloves but only if you’re only preparing food. Cross contamination is huge. Washing hands frequently, after preparing each item, is a must. Or wearing gloves that you are also supposed to change after going from one type of food item to another. Such as going from seafood to any other food. I will not take food from someone with gloves that I see preparing food then handling cash then going right back to food, without changing gloves. As someone who’s worked in restaurants & as a cashier in gas stations I have seen money come from places that it shouldn’t be, ever. Then try to hand it to me. @@ThisBahamianGyal I agree with you but to put it all on him to deal with our community when he’s not out here by himself… I don’t feel like that should be his burden to carry. There is more than one way to skin a cat. And honestly telling about a restaurant service and it closing down is a small win, but what happens when the same type of restaurant pops back up just with different owners and a different name? I think us as a community have to nip it at the bud. We have to stop spending money at these places that offer subpar customer service and food. Eventually (at least hopefully) people will get the message that if you step into the restaurant arena you have to step a certain way in our community. We have to teach people how to treat us. But when you have people in the comments (not here but on his TikTok) jokingly saying “hey if I don’t get cussed out while someone is taking my order then I don’t want it” then why would people feel the need to change?

As an East European living in UK, where , honestly speaking the food is just so bland, but where you do have options, one thing that stands out to me is the normalisation of how horrible this food looks, I can smell it through the screen. And the second point that is shocking to me is how many people don’t know how to cook in the US (based on the comments). I mean you’d rather travel to neighbouring states rather than cook. So the way I look at it is you spend 50+ hours working to spend your hard earned money and limited time in a place that treats you with contempt by serving you unhealthy and unhygienic food, that doesn’t even taste decent, expecting a big tip from you. You vote with your money. Stay home, save time, money, cook for yourself and use the otherwise tip money to buy better ingredients. Your body will thank you. Good luck!

It's essential to remember the distinction between cooking for yourself and cooking for the public. While being a great cook is important, running a food establishment requires different skills. As a chef, I'm interested in seeing if the food establishments he visited have undergone health inspections and are food safety certified. These establishments must ensure their staff and owners are trained in allergen certifications to prioritize customer safety. Ultimately, improving these practices is essential for the business's long-term success and to prevent any incidences of customers falling ill.

I don’t believe he lying about his experience, but I know it’s not all of the restaurants. I grew up in DC and around Chefs and there are some good service restaurants in DC.
Now that being said, he went to places he was recommended to go and most of the places in DC isn’t ran by folks that know or care truly about how to cook soul food. Just saying! You better off knowing someone’s grandma in DC and stop by their house for dinner fr. 😳😳🤔

Gentrification ruined DC, now it's just overpriced waste. Even places that used to be good are now hit or miss or just not worth it anymore. DC is done and will never be the same.
