Born and raised in DC. There’s some Great restaurants in the city and surrounding areas (MD and VA), but he’s not going to get the best experience or food ordering quick food to-go from food trucks and carryout joints.

Keith Lee NEVER should have publicly "reviewed" food in the first place. The selling point of his content was never really about how good the food is. It was always about shining light on black restaurants that needed some attention. His team or him need to do a better job of scouting what restaurants to choose and what types of food you should get. And he needs to expand his palette a little bit.
Hood Boogers were so Thirsty for Keith Lee to CoSign Mumbo Sauce they sent him to a SE carryout to get unseasoned chicken and fries..... the spot is to get food for under $10 when you Drunk.....he was 💯.
As a DMV resident, I can tell you that DC food "culture" falls into 2 types of places: Carry-Out, and "dining experience". There's really no food here that you can't get anywhere else. There's nothing DC is particularly known for in terms of food. There's no "signature dish" like 45min north in Baltimore where they are known for crabs, lobster, shrimp, and crab cakes. The carry out places have that stuff, but it's better in Baltimore. The "trendy" places are good for a night out on the town experience, but there's not a spot you would swear by to go to JUST for the food. By no means is what you get in DC horrible by any means, but there's nothing in the city or surrounding area (Arlington, Annandale, Alexandria, Falls Church, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, College Park) that stands out and is head above anything else available in any genre of food. There's tons of Pho places none of them significantly better than the next, tons of local Pizza places that have very average Pizza when compared to places known for Pizza, and the occasional hole in the wall spot that doesn't really do anything you can't do yourself if you weren't pressed for time.

Keith Lee NEVER should have publicly "reviewed" food in the first place. The selling point of his content was never really about how good the food is. It was always about shining light on black restaurants that needed some attention. His team or him need to do a better job of scouting what restaurants to choose and what types of food you should get. And he needs to expand his palette a little bit.

As a DMV resident, I can tell you that DC food "culture" falls into 2 types of places: Carry-Out, and "dining experience". There's really no food here that you can't get anywhere else. There's nothing DC is particularly known for in terms of food. There's no "signature dish" like 45min north in Baltimore where they are known for crabs, lobster, shrimp, and crab cakes. The carry out places have that stuff, but it's better in Baltimore. The "trendy" places are good for a night out on the town experience, but there's not a spot you would swear by to go to JUST for the food.
By no means is what you get in DC horrible by any means, but there's nothing in the city or surrounding area (Arlington, Annandale, Alexandria, Falls Church, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring, College Park) that stands out and is head above anything else available in any genre of food. There's tons of Pho places none of them significantly better than the next, tons of local Pizza places that have very average Pizza when compared to places known for Pizza, and the occasional hole in the wall spot that doesn't really do anything you can't do yourself if you weren't pressed for time.

I've been in DC for 20yrs and the carryouts out here are sus. I've also lived up and down the east coast over the years and I have to say. DC people believe this is still chocolate city.....lol. The restaurants are good, the carryouts are not it.
