Really excellent! I first flew on a 747-131 of TWA in 1974, JFK - LAX. I was a teenager then.

Absolutely beautiful!! Ah the memories. When the 747's first started flying in LA, my dad and I would park at the end of the 24 (in those days, there was a back road that ran the back end of the LAX and brought you out on the south end of 24) and watch the original 6 airlines with 747's. Let's see; Pan Am, TWA, American, United, Delta and Continental. Fun times indeed

My first overseas trip was to Tokyo on a JAL 744. The second trip to Tokyo just a few years later was on a JAL 77W. I love the 777, but the Queen of the Skies will always be the best!

Great vid ! Hoped to see a couple ofQantas airframes but the timings may not be right . There's only 1 or 2 left per day to LAX now and I suspect they me the first to go when Qantas transitions to the 787-9. all the rest of the Qantas flights are A380. Get the 744's while you can . I think we will. See 744F's for a long time yet.

I don't see a lot of Boeing 747 plane at the local airport at North Carolina except Miami
International Airport. My uncle told me they have a lot of confusion & problem for
Miami International Airport. Miami has the 747 Boeing!!

Sad to see that former Eva bird taking off for perhaps the last time at 10:12 . No markings and early rotation would suggest its on the way to the desert? :(

Can someone tell me why cargo airlines seem to really not care about fuel efficiency at all? We still see 742s, DC-10s, MD-11s, and a310s flying with cargo airlines, while all the passenger versions have been phased out.

    • @big51duck1

+Michael Pulli Right. Forgot about that. Boxes don't really care about the mood lighting or quietness of the airplanes, unless animals are inside.

    • @martinjuulandersen9694

+Roger Mellie same engine as B752 uses! Also this was the engine that almost killed RR financially had it been for Government intervention.

LAX has a lot of 747s and A380s LAX has all the A380 operators such as the 747s but for Korean air why do they need the A380 and the 747 can’t they just choose one?

+Doug Swalen I'm sorry, what? it doesn't count for you? Weather you like it or not it does count. XD

    • @dougswalen8532
      @dougswalen8532 9 ปีที่แล้ว

It's not the same. Cargo flies at odd hours...frequently departing or arriving overnight...and it goes and parks somewhere on the perimeter of the airport where you have trouble seeing it. So, no...it doesn't count in as much as seeing a passenger 747 parked at a gate which you can see on a daily basis.
The most impressive sight for me was Heathrow's T-5 with all those 747s parked wingtip to wingtip. The only rival would be DXB's all A380 terminal.
At LAX, you still get some 747s but not as many as you used to...not as much as you had say 8 years ago. If you compared LAX to SFO, SFO would probably beat it because its United's main 747 base.
On the other hand LAX has become a very good spot for the variety of A380s it gets. Emirates, BA, Asiana, Korean, China Southern, Air France, Singapore, Qantas...that's pretty impressive.
Your mileage may vary...but that's how I feel.
