    The first time I heard this one I cried like a baby. Rich McDonald can sure belt out a power ballad. Thank you for this one.

    I remember hearing this on the radio after they put sound bites of September 11th calls. I cried all the way to work! Such a beautiful song.

    I had this played at my husband's funeral service in May 2012. He had been an over the road trucker for several years and we had these phone calls quite frequently.

    They have such wonderful songs. They bring up some memories that make me cry, every single time. Being friends with the guitar player, during the time they were super popular, it was so fun to watch their immense success. There one of my favorite country groups. Sad that they broke up! Amazed, I can't get through with without becoming a blubbering mess. Thanks for the reaction!!

    Lonestar was such an enormous part of my husband's and my story. Our first date was to one of their concerts and we fell in love with their music. This was big on radio around the same time my husband left for the first of two 18-month deployments to Iraq, and as much comfort as it has always brought, even now, nearly 2 decades later, it always brings me to tears. A truly touching song 🥹

    Such a great song that i have heard so many time. But, watching your heart melt made me tear up. I met these guys years ago, first tour, and they were some of the kindest people. We sold high-end western gear and we're near a large venue. Not only kind, but generous customers and they gave us shout out at the concert.

    When my husband passed our daughter was 3 , I had this played at his funeral.
    Then 3 yrs ago after my daughter had my grandbaby I was driving home from the hospital that night and this song came on , and it was like my husband was telling me he’s with the 3 of us!

  • @firefighterchick
    @firefighterchick ปีที่แล้ว +30

    This is such a moving song.
    There is another version of this video where it's soldiers who are saying goodbye to their families as they deploy.
    That video probably has the higher views.
    If I'm not mistaken they re-released it after 9/11 and the wars that followed.
    His voice is amazing.
    John Rich from Big and Rich was originally in Lone Star before he formed the duo with Big Kenny.
    Absolutely nothing wrong with getting teary eyed my friend. 😊

    When my radio station does St.Jude (it’s a children’s hospital) event to raise money they take this song and you hear the voices of the parents talking about their kids fight with cancer and a lot of time they talk about how they didn’t make it. It’s the saddest thing!

    I'm pretty sure they did 2 videos to this song, if I'm remembering correctly. One version is the one you're watching, but when the War in Iraq began they shot some scenes with military members or actors in military uniforms. They then re-edited the video to include the military scenes. 👍
