In contrast to all the people complaining, I think it's cool that you guys are talking about what you think is cool and related to your sphere of interest in magic. And that is even though I don't intend to play the brawl format at all, even though it seems cool! Do your thing guys, you're awesome!
Likelihood? Maybe. But being good in brawl is no guarantee it's good in Commander. Take Gilded Lotus - it's premiere ramp and fixing in brawl, but barely makes it as my 10th rock in most Commander decks, with Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Sol Ring, Signets, Thran Dynamo, and the like.
Why is everyone hating on Brawl so much? After they do a Game knights game, they do a deck tech on the decks they've played, That's why there's another Brawl episode on "The Command Zone". So what if its called The Command Zone, can't they try new things out?
Guys, don't forget, with profane procession you can activate it more than 3 times if you have the mana. Since the ability isn't sorcery only, you can do it all at instant speed, get as many activations as you can, then when the land flips over, you can have 3+ creatures underneath it for however many times you paid for it.
What about Cascading Cataracts in the mana base? It can't be destroyed due to Indestructible, it can make awkward mana situations into castable cards through Jodah and it doesn't enter tapped and can produce mana outside of its 5-mana ability.
One aspect of Field of Ruin that gets often forgotten is that it counteres most tutors by shuffling an opponents deck on demand. Sure, it only matters sometimes, but when it does, it matters a lot to stop one person from doing something really stupid. Great effect stapled onto an already useful card!
To all listeners crying because this was a brawl episode, IT WAS JUST THIS 2 WEEKS. They are just trying to explain and help us how they made their brawl decks because the last episode of gameknights was a brawl one.
Isn't deck construction limited to the color identity of the commander? Isn't Jodah's color identity only blue/red/white? How is it that you can have green and black cards if Jodah is the commander?
I wasn't planning on playing Brawl because of the rotation, but considering my first pack of Dominaria was Muldrotha, the Gravetide, I might have to give it a try. Jodah is super cool too though. I hope I can pull him too!
I thought the same thing, until I opened a Karn in a prerelease. Then, I kinda got excited. Figure I'll give it a try. Turned out to be fun, I think in the long run its cheaper then standard because to run a Karn deck in standard, id need minimum of 2, maybe a full set... brawl I just need the 1. In fact i don't need a set of anything...
You could also play Raff Capashen to give the majority of your cards flash And Rona, Disciple of Gix can provide some flexibility (kinda) in opening up the top card of your deck for use
A great look at an interesting Brawl deck. Limited card pool Commander has always been an interesting concept, though limiting it to Standard... still not completely sold. However, this video does a good job of presenting the deck that you'd designing. I love Jodah and the things you can do with him, as well as just having another option for a five color Commander. A lot of the cards that you shared in your Brawl deck would still fit in a regular Commander deck, which I find awesome.
I like a quick jaunt into Brawl every once in a while. I highly doubt this channel will morph into a Brawl channel so it's all good. Many of the cards that are Brawl staples are great cards in chamandehr
I am going to build a Brawl deck 1 my lgs is having a Brawl league 2 I think it’s a good way to test how the new legends will work in multiplayer format instead of just flat out building 100 cards I can pick through my standard cards from draft/ prerelease events and use that to test it, plus it means more commander playable cards in standard sets.
I was waiting for this video. I wasn't sure if i was gonna build a brawl deck with Jodah, but i got lucky the other day and pulled a foil one from a pack.... So i figured, welp gonna give it a try. And im glad i did, imma definitely build this deck in some version
Jodah, Muldrotha, Sunbird's Invocation, Revel in Riches, Swarm Intelligence, Primal Wellspring, Panharmonicon, Karn's Temporal Sundering and at least 9 mana. Get Brass' Bounty with the Sunbird Invocation?
I need to get; nicol bolas, Jodah , zacama, Muldrotha and more. Wish me luck I have some more boosters to draft. We do one person buys and owns all the boosters for a draft and then at the end that one person keeps everything. It is more fun because there is far less hate drafting and it’s far more about having fun and playing. This deck is fantastic!
so with checklands and dual cyclers thats already 15 lands.evolving wilds, etc how many of each basic did you play? how many lands all together did you play because by that point you should be close to being maxed out already.
To your question on what edh decks jodah would be good in I have him as my super friends commander and the value he generates is amazing especially when I’m turn 4 oath of teferi , bolas god pharaoh then turn five door to nothingness tezzeret and prismatic geoscope for an instant win
Brawl is fun. Its basically standard cube with a commander. Although I don't agree with the standard ban list being binding to brawl as its a casual format and powerful cards with broken effects do not hit with the same impact or even efficient things like smuggler's copter
question: when Jodah is in play, does his 5 manna ability also aplies to the manna cost of kicked spells? Or does the player still have to pay the kick cost with the 5 colour manna? For example: when I want to cast 'Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep' kicked, I would have to pay 7 manna + 3 blue. Does Jodah's ablity make this white-blue-black-red-green? Or white-blue-black-red-green + 1 manna and 1 blue (kick cost)?
Just want to point out that Oasis Ritualist, when exerted, will get you two mana of the SAME color, not of any color. The way you phrased it suggested that you could generate a combination of mana, which you can't.
I made a similar version to Jimmy's Brawl deck; in fact, I was wondering if we had made the same deck since I saw so many of the same cards I used when I was watching Game Knights. I focused a bit more on ramp and abusing Jodah's replacement effect though. For instance I play Hostage Taker to remove someone's big threat; then use Hostage Taker's ability to cast it for myself while using Jodah's replacement effect to reduce the cost/fix the mana. Cards with high Aftermath costs are also reduced by Jodah, so I run Spring / Mind to ramp and draw, as well as Commit / memory to "counter" a spell and get a brawl legal Time Spiral for 5 mana. I also included Zacama because 5 mana 9/9's that untap your lands are cool. Other than that, it's a basic ramp/mid-range deck with a cool dude leading it all. :)
Really hope they go back and do a Muldrotha Commander deck episode. Only reason I'm sad about the Brawl episodes at all is because I'd love to know their thoughts on these commanders.
I think he is better suited for a 100 card Commander deck, more cards and can use enhancements for protection and card draw. More options to deter your opponents. Good stuff boys
By the way, James Wong and Joseph Lee-Kwai if you want to have different formats on your show of game knights I recommend you planechase, vanguard, emperor, ursurper will be very interesting, it’s all your decision. :)
Many things they talked about where actually usefull for normal EDH aswell. So maybe stop complaining about them showing their two Brawl decks, I'm sure there is more EDH stuff coming along the way pretty soon. And to Josh and Jimmy, I love the last three videos. And also learned things for commander. Don't worry, you are doing a great job!
Step 1: Add ramp and mana-fixing. Step 2: Add all of the biggest spells that you can find. Step 3: Don't forget Omniscience. Seriously, he's a *very* generic goodstuff commander with absolutely nothing interesting going on, other than being the best goodstuff'er out there of course. He makes a *sweet* wizard tribal guy too. But people seem hellbent on just going goodstuff with him.
jodah brawl deck tech: 1. go to gatherer 2. filter by standard cards only 3. sort by converted mana cost (descending) 4. go nuts jodah commander deck deck: same thing except use all cards in commander
Johny Andrew it's there as a reminder when you get an emblem it's not part of the game it's out of the game but you permantly have that ability the tokens that are made are there as a reminder so that you know that you have it almost cannot be interacted with by any player and cannot be removed they're just permanent effects that exist. I hope that helped
Never realized how toxic your viewers are. Considering the comments none have actually played brawl. Its catching on here in a big way. I'm excited for rotation to get rid of TSG decks. Not because they are good but b/c they are far too popular. I think i've seen 1 win a game 1 time mostly due to inability to assess threats. Which happens in command too often as well. Excited you are supporting the format. Even thought its paid advertising =).
bct tcb no I think it’s because most mtg players are huge asses and at least 70 percent of the population have lost 75 percent of their compassion and an open way of thinking
I think you might want to look at new place to play. Everyone here is awesome minus the few whiners. Obviously there are tons of bad people in the world. Its especially not limited to a few nerds =) The made up statistics are entertaining though. I think you might have been looking at the numbers of gamers who don't wear deodarant to pre-releases lol.
its not that the viewers are "toxic".. are you forgetting this is youtube..and the internet...also brawl is fringe..and will go the same place as frontier
Ill take that bet. Frontier was a crap format to extend standard at which time no one played. Commander players here (which is a very high number, my main LGS alone gets 30-60 players for casual commander night, we actually have to turn people away some nights) are already highly on board with the format especially with all the reserve list price gouging ruining commander. Our first brawl tournament we expected 10 people, we ended up with almost 50 in the tournament and multiple causal games being played on the side. It might just be your opinion about the format being "fringe" might be a location bias. Locally we have the highest player base based on population in the country so that might have something to do with my location bias. I think there are too many people playing to call it a fringe format, especially when you can arguably call standard a fringe format at this point(we get a whopping 10 people on average for standard).
Hey guys. Love your content. Please go back to Commander videos again. Brawl is just Wizards attempting to sell more product by making ANOTHER rotating format. They should focus on fixing the curling and print quality problems before asking people to buy substandard products.
Hey ya Josh and Jimmy! thanks for doing the brawl deck techs and brawl episodes, brawl's just an easier commander format to start in until the card collecton is up to commander size :) keep going guys!
I hope you guys ignore all the brawl hate. I don't see why you guys cant do Commander when new sets come out, and then play Brawl in between sets. I think Brawl is great, and look forward to more Brawl game knights.
I love this, i love this game, i love how you guys do the animation that goes into to make it better to watch i love this i sat here for 5 hours watching video after video laughing, gasping at every video brawl and fights. Ik this is dumb but just wanted to say i love what you guys are doing and keep doing it (im not new to magic but im not the best i have a zombie deck that iv been using for a couple weeks now and i was wondering if anyone in the comments or command zone can tell me any good cards for zombies or decks)
Hi guys realy big fan and love your content!!!! I just wannted to ask whether you could also do a brawl deck teck for huatli, Radiant Champion. I would REALY appreciate that
I play slimefoot as my commander and uses and abuses liches mastery because the deck just filters for lands and mending of dominara to put the cards back!
For every "I hate brawl" comment I've seen there's at least three people saying "everyone in this comments section is saying they hate brawl but I think it's great." People just dwelling on negativity.
im on this channel mainly for one thing, game knights, for my is not important to have a commander game on each game knight episode, they can play whatever the want, i will probably enjoy it. that being said, and even liking the brawl episode, i cant just support the brawl format, for one simple reason, rotation. i have no other problems with brawl, i would even try to convince my friends to make brawl decks if brawl didnt rotate, but it does, and i just cant support a format that does that, because is not in my interest to see a format that rotates as a popular one, since i would incentivate wizards to make more rotating formats, and the last thing that i want to see on magic is more rotating formats. i understand that there are people that like standard and rotation, i respect that, but i i would be happier if any new thing that they try that relies on rotation fails miserably.
I have a feeling that you put revel in riches when the deck dont really work, like why muldrotha hasn't revel in riches since you can have infinite control spells ?
Fist of Suns doesn't ignore commander tax either. Also worth noting, Jodah's ability is not live anywhere but on the battlefield. If he's in your command zone you certainly cannot try to cast him for WUBRG.
If u take the time to read about what the command zone is about it specifically says it's about the commander format(EDH) not formats that have a general
Guys, I tried to build Jodah in commander, it is greedy, but it's a payoff. It is not, however, a commander you can play with budget lands unless you tutor out for Blood Sun, or other cards that make it so your lands don't come in untapped. I would like to hear what you guys would do for Jodah as a commander though.
Working on the Jodah commander deck, lots of fun! Not there yet but early builds trim from this list. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/five-color-silly-stuff/?cb=1525271047
Oh i wasn't saying brawl was bad i was saying there is still overpowered stuff you can do i like brawl it's just that some decks i cant build because it would make the playgroup toxic
In contrast to all the people complaining, I think it's cool that you guys are talking about what you think is cool and related to your sphere of interest in magic. And that is even though I don't intend to play the brawl format at all, even though it seems cool!
Do your thing guys, you're awesome!
Brawl has a Command Zone, people. Brawl can only be good for Commander, because WOTC is more likely to print Commander playables in New sets.
Standard-legal 60 card deck playable =/= commander playable.
How are you this dense? He's clearly correct here. More Brawl friendly cards means an increased likelihood of commander playables.
Likelihood? Maybe. But being good in brawl is no guarantee it's good in Commander. Take Gilded Lotus - it's premiere ramp and fixing in brawl, but barely makes it as my 10th rock in most Commander decks, with Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Sol Ring, Signets, Thran Dynamo, and the like.

they've played, That's why there's another Brawl episode on "The Command Zone". So what if its called The Command Zone, can't they try new things out?
zin's realm also the game does have the comand zone it has a comander I mean duh
Thank you for being open
zin's realm Also their Podcast is called "The Command Zone" and Brawl has a command zone
Exactly- it's a commander format
Because its fun and easy. That's why.
Guys, don't forget, with profane procession you can activate it more than 3 times if you have the mana. Great effect stapled onto an already useful card!
I opened a dominaria pack tonight i found Jodah! I feel The Force now!!! :)
To all listeners crying because this was a brawl episode, IT WAS JUST THIS 2 WEEKS. They are just trying to explain and help us how they made their brawl decks because the last episode of gameknights was a brawl one.
To add, this translates well to Commander, being a single card format.
Or how about content creator desides what they do and you go find other content for that time instead if you don't like it. Dick Johnson
Read the video discription Dick
Dick Johnson not the show notes is it?
Dick Johnson haha, dude you are arguing about a video being a video that it isn't. And you are getting angry about it? This is hilarious.
as fascinated as i am with this deck... that sriracha bottle in the background man... damn son
Isn't deck construction limited to the color identity of the commander? Isn't Jodah's color identity only blue/red/white? How is it that you can have green and black cards if Jodah is the commander?
For God`s love, we beg you to make Commander Deck Tech with Jodah!
I wasn't planning on playing Brawl because of the rotation, but considering my first pack of Dominaria was Muldrotha, the Gravetide, I might have to give it a try.
Jodah is super cool too though. I hope I can pull him too!
airkami i suggest just buying one. Hes super duper cheap even foil. I got him for like $6 foil 🤷🏻 still cant figure out why hes so cheap
Give it time he will probably skyrocket in the future.
Nick Ernst how is that cheap? Besides it’s better to buy non foils if you can to prevent them from warping
Under $10 is cheap for singles to me. 🤷🏻 and as far as warping goes thats what double sleeving in good sleeves is for.
Diversity in topics are important. Podcasts need to branch out, not just do the same old thing over and over. Thank you for all of your content.
Paul Woods problem with us. Some people are not open minded
i love celestial dawn in 4 and 5 color decks. it really helps with any possible mana problems
Digging those new glasses jimmy...
A guy in my Mandarin class wears a similar style... looks good on ya :D
You could also play Raff Capashen to give the majority of your cards flash
And Rona, Disciple of Gix can provide some flexibility (kinda) in opening up the top card of your deck for use
Isn't the intro song that you guys sang is better suited for Admiral Beckett Brass ?
A great look at an interesting Brawl deck. Limited card pool Commander has always been an interesting concept, though limiting it to Standard... still not completely sold. I like a quick jaunt into Brawl every once in a while. I highly doubt this channel will morph into a Brawl channel so it's all good. Many of the cards that are Brawl staples are great cards in chamandehr
A funny idea i had for a deck, Zedruu the used car salesgoat.
All about giving vehicles to people and drawing cards, with a few sneaky tricks.
I am going to build a Brawl deck
1 my lgs is having a Brawl league
2 I think it’s a good way to test how the new legends will work in multiplayer format instead of just flat out building 100 cards I can pick through my standard cards from draft/ prerelease events and use that to test it, plus it means more commander playable cards in standard sets.

Jodah, Muldrotha, Sunbird's Invocation, Revel in Riches, Swarm Intelligence, Primal Wellspring, Panharmonicon, Karn's Temporal Sundering and at least 9 mana. Get Brass' Bounty with the Sunbird Invocation?
I think keeping a different set of lands and a bunch of other non standard cards ready for when you want to use him for EDH would be a nice idea.
ok I was thinking that, when I'm not able to use him as brawl he's definitely going into a commander build lol
Eric Payne in the end. Mtg should be a fun game right?
Danny Knight well yeah...
Woohoo! Notification squad! Heading for that playmat! Keep up the good work guys!
I need to get; nicol bolas, Jodah , zacama, Muldrotha and more. Wish me luck I have some more boosters to draft. I am building a Jodah deck for commander and it is a super friends deck! He is mostly just a 5 color legendary Fist of Suns. lol
Should play another with the NFL player an the Professor
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS PROF!!!!!!!!!
Playing Overwatch Origins Edition prof said he wouldn’t do brawl decks profile...
Just picked up Jodah prerel foil. Cannot wait to build the deck
You still have to pay additional and optional costs. Because... y'know, they are additional and optional.
So WUBRG+1U.
yeah I thought so. Thx for the reply!
I'm definetly buying the playmat!! Because it looks AWESOME!!
4:45
Your sacrifice will not go unnoticed!

Other than that, it's a basic ramp/mid-range deck with a cool dude leading it all. :)
Really hope they go back and do a Muldrotha Commander deck episode. Only reason I'm sad about the Brawl episodes at all is because I'd love to know their thoughts on these commanders.
Everyone's hating on you guys making brawl episodes but I love them. I barely comment but this is worth dropping here.
Looking at your deck online, it counts 61 cards. What was cut to make 60?
Many things they talked about where actually usefull for normal EDH aswell.
So maybe stop complaining about them showing their two Brawl decks, I'm sure there is more EDH stuff coming along the way pretty soon.
And to Josh and Jimmy, I love the last three videos. And also learned things for commander. Don't worry, you are doing a great job!
Hey would y'all ever do a gameknights with the callenger decks?
Would Shalai, Voice of Plenty be a good commander with a dino sub theme?? For Brawl and EDH
Would love to see an EDH deck tech for this guy. He seems awesome.
Sir Crabsalot yeah Jodah also works to have muldroth and other graveyard recursion as seen in brawl.
I think Brawl is a very fun format. I like it.
"Let's get right into it" gets me every time lol
jodah brawl deck tech: 1. go to gatherer 2. filter by standard cards only 3. sort by converted mana cost (descending) 4. go nuts
jodah commander deck deck: same thing except use all cards in commander
you can even get jhoda in turn two if in your opening hand have an island sol ring and boros signet
I actually made a fun deck for Standard with this guy and Thran Temporal Gateway lol
I just ordered like 11 cards from card kingdom :) I also want to know the use for a plainswalker a emblem .
Get Helm of Hosts on Shalai, then everything is hexproof no matter what happens.

These guys should do a pentagon/pentagram match next time
there needs to be playmats with the legendary sorcery art. I might have to get all of them.
I am wondering hasn't kaladesh rotated out of standart with dominaria?
Hey guys. Love your content. Please go back to Commander videos again.
Brawl is just Wizards attempting to sell more product by making ANOTHER rotating format.

You should probably include cascading cataracts

How can you add green and black when the commander don't have the colors?
he's got green and black in his ability so he's a 5 color commander. the commanders color is any mana symbols in it usually: rules and cost
minernova thank you
I love Brawl, so good!
I enjoy brawl a lot. Great idea

Pretty sure The Professor made this remark "Wish there was a smaller commander format with a limited card pool that rotates -said no EDH player ever"
Can you play a 50/50 ballista for B,W,U,G,R???
Hi guys realy big fan and love your content!!!! I just wannted to ask whether you could also do a brawl deck teck for huatli, Radiant Champion. I would REALY appreciate that

i understand that there are people that like standard and rotation, i respect that, but i i would be happier if any new thing that they try that relies on rotation fails miserably.
Are those mxl 990 microphones?
I have a feeling that you put revel in riches when the deck dont really work, like why muldrotha hasn't revel in riches since you can have infinite control spells ?
Does kicker work with jodan?
With jodah's ability do you ignore commander tax?
No it doesn't ignore commander tax unfortunately.
Andrew Looker with fist of suns yeah
Fist of Suns doesn't ignore commander tax either.
Also worth noting, Jodah's ability is not live anywhere but on the battlefield. If he's in your command zone you certainly cannot try to cast him for WUBRG.
Kestral287 not like you would want to pay for Five color for Jodah which is gOod since he is jeskai
Why ppl complaining about brawl, brawl is literally a god sent gift to commander format just look at dominaria and how much "brawl" support there was
How about a budget Kazarov sengir pureblood brawl deck please 🧛♂️
Just saying, lay hate into a Ranging Raptors is a good way to get that mana
Does jodah work with morophon?
I really have the feeling that Brawl is going to be the next Tiny Leaders. Strong start, but ruined by a few OP commanders.
What if I told you that the format is already solved and that everything is dominated by the same commanders?
Prepare your "I told you so"-hat.
you could get jodah on turn two in commander
island into soul into signet pass
turn two jodah pass
its unlikely but possible
Throw in the 8 cost Bolas as well
When is the playmat shipping out?
terrabite87 I’m pretty sure it’s now, it will only ship now and then never ship again
Can you do a commander deck tech for this card?
People complaining about the channel name being The Command Zone and not talk about commander, Brawl has a Command Zone
If u take the time to read about what the command zone is about it specifically says it's about the commander format(EDH) not formats that have a general
The command zone I have a question its important um I was wondering if u have any eldrazies you can give me
Jodah is awesome!
A quiet place was a great movie I liked it
So I am converting this into a commander deck
Is it me or you guys forgot to mention there's no commander combat dmg (21 dmg to win in EDH)
Jodah brawl wizards anyone? I feel like I'm alone on this take on Jodah
Jodah Wizards tribal Brawl? Yes, maybe. Jodah Wizards tribal EDH? I'm with you my brother.
Solidarity!
*fist bump*
I love brawl, no OP cards and a 60 card deck. My favorite things about standard brought into my favorite mode.
Yeah say that when i put out 12/12 with trample on turn three in brawl
Hate brawl, less longevity to my decks, and much less options to build from.
Oh i wasn't saying brawl was bad i was saying there is still overpowered stuff you can do i like brawl it's just that some decks i cant build because it would make the playgroup toxic
Baral says 'hi'.
Griffin Little i was hesitant about it at first but like after watching some gameplay i think its probably gonna be how i play Standard from now on.
how about adding emrakul to this deck
Love you guys
44:00 "local lgs"... jimmy please
that brawlh gmae was amazing, i've wached it about 12 times
Y'all need to learn the difference between "fewer" and "less". Fewer lawyers, less bullshit. Fewer grains of sand, less sand.
