Oh man, finally a vlogger that discovers more cultural food than just typical Dutch food in Holland! Great man
One thing I love about The Netherlands it’s so diverse.
Wow. Know the fella from Ghana cleaning the fish felt so elated that you were familiar with Ghanaian food and culture. Would try the Soete Boi. Your reaction is everything 😂😋😋😋. Admire how open and willing you are to try everything. Really enjoying this vid.
thank you always for your supportive and thoughtful comments Cydney. Ghanaian food is something I need to eat, I'll never forget that first bite of fufu. So glad you are enjoying it wishing you and your husband both a great weekend too.
Dont forget its roots in southern Africa big dutch influence in South Africa
Can't wait comming to the Nederlands in July visiting my family.
they got a spare room for me?
Hi David! I really enjoy your videos. I've watched most of them. I really got a kick out of you speaking Dutch and sranang tongo. I'm also from Suriname, but lives in the USA. I even bought your hot sauce and gave it to my friend as a gift, since I can't eat spicy foods, but I was so proud to know that it was made by a Surinamese company. Looking forward to your next visit to Suriname. Please continue what your doing! Blessings!
Wow thank you so so much Muriel! Thats so kind of you to do that. So glad you are enjoying the videos and its messages like these that really help keep me going. Have a great Sunday.
David, I just binged you videos from Georgia and Armenia. You have a great way of interacting and showcasing local people.
Great to see you explore the less known side of Dutch food culture. Such a shame we don't get a lot of Surinamese food here in the east of our tiny country.
Rini's Nijmegen plein 1944
yesss! Looking forward to this series so much, I can tell this is going to be a good one. I love Amsterdam and the Netherlands, truly one of my favorite cities in the world.
Surinamese food is the best food of the Netherlands Hands Down 🙌🏽
Nah, I'd take Indonesian food over Surinamese.
Suriname got them too.
@@rubentullenaar2934 lol. Surinamese includes Indonesian (Javanese) food fyi.
@@akashicrecords9672 i know, it’s because surinam food is a lot influenced by Indonesian food.
@@rubentullenaar2934 Niet alleen Indonesisch.
Great video wurd! All looked amazing food n fantastic people full stop wow.....but the Congolese Maria as well as everyone else was so warm and joyful. Amazing!
Her name is also Melissa and she is the owner of Fresh Leaves.
She is amazing and her smile is everything ❤
Her restaurant is located in Stadsdeel Bijlmer, Reigersbos:
Snellerwaardgracht 11, Amsterdam
Real woman!!
Those persons didnt really explain it right about the VIADOE, its not a cinnamon bun its also made with rum and other ingredients, more that is needed for a cinnamon bun. As a Surinamese living abroad Spain Barcelona, I do crave VIADOE
Herring is extremely Dutch beyond food. It was an important nutrient in Northern Europe in the Middle Ages and the Dutch discovered how it could be conserved by leaving only the pancreas in and brining it in the 14th century. They started on ship processing of the herring and soon took over the almost the entire herring trade and former important herring cities like Lübeck in Germany lost relevance. It helped other trade growing and when the Dutch industrialized shipbuilding with the help of windmills they started dominating all European trade by sea.
So it doesn't get much Dutcher than herring. They often get served with a tiny Dutch flag and the first catch of the year arriving is called 'vlaggetjesdag' or little flag day because of the national flags on the boats.
Wow im talking to a surinamese dutch girl right now, the odds man.
I’m a Dutchie born and raised in Amsterdam. I love your video’s, well done! All these different cultures make our city so divers and beautiful. The more red the herring is inside, the better the taste. So the Ijmuider vishandel is one to keep in mind 🙌🏽
Loved this! It's so easy to understand/read the Hollands/Dutch, as we speak Afrikaans - which comes from High Dutch way back - in South Africa and it is so similar!
Love the Netherlands. Food looks really good. Great video team ♥♥♥
Amazing you came to the Netherlands where i live! You def should have come in the summer. Hope you enjoyed it here bro ❤.
WELCOME IN HOLLAND

Awesome man! Hope you enjoy it and wishing you a great day too.
Great show David and a great place to visit. We live in Europe and usually go to Haarlem three or four times a year. While we are there, we usually visit all of the places in and around Amsterdam. I must say that the NL is my favorite place in Europe to visit. People are very friendly and outgoing. Oh yes, watch out for the bike lane.😊
Very nice, and true hosts of enjoyment with you. Very nice episode! 🧡
Whahaha how his eyes turned into his head while eating da. Broodje mokski 🙏🏾💪🏾💪🏾❤️❤️
The guy that is hosting explains the mutlicultural food history really well!
Thanks for sharing this video. I’ll have a list of places to visit when I go back.
This is really the everyday Netherlands as I experience it every day, you couldn't have shown it better and more honestly and I come from Rotterdam!!😁 thank you!!
Everything looks delicious 😋
The Guy with the glasses gives me the Rev Run vibe
Great review thank you for the video.

My goodness mouth watering.
Nothing beats the dutch herring. It definitely exceeds one's expectations..a million times better than oyster
I’ve only had the German herring but I’ll try it when I go back 😊

you are missing the best city in the Netherlands The Hague and where the real fish comes from is Scheveningen
Its coming very soon!! Stay tuned!
@@Davidsbeenhereand Den Haag is famous for its authentic Indonesian restaurants. One of the best is Padang Lapek. Very populair amoung Indonesians, even Indonesians living in other EU countries visit this authentic Indonesian restaurant.
best country in the world
Greeting from holland❤
I hope you had a wonderfull day in my city :D you even went to my neighbourhood in south east the place to be. I live 2 min away from the last restaurant you went in unfortunately I didn't see you :(
The only Food vloger which actually makes the content interesting to watch for me
hi, i enjoy and i like your videos bro and in the same time you make me feel hungry with delicious foods around different cultures,🙂 do you think to visit Albania again, in your next itinerary ?
And you beter watch out for the birds :P
I would recommend to not get Indonesian and Chinese food in the biggest cities, the best tasting ones are in smaller cities, believe it or not, they taste better and they are more affordable, that's a much bigger win-win. The Chinese Surinamese toko restaurant in this video on the other hand is probably one of the best though, so it's basically kind of complicated to find the best ones from everywhere. My guess is though that this one was not in the center of the city but more outside of the center.
Also: There is no best when it comes to Dutch or Belgian fries, they are different enough to be their own thing and they are both very good in their own ways.
Klopt, de Chinees-Surinaamse Toko Wally is in Venserpolder.
En Tjin's is in de Pijp, een paar minuten van de Albert Cuyp markt
Just saw you about a week ago in NC at the barbecue place in Lexington. lol I been waiting for you to post that 😂😂 I was the guy in the glasses asking what’s the name of your TH-cam channel
VIVA ORANJE!🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊
David come to Germany food tour! The best whooo you show is Lukas, you met him in Miami !
Hey David..i like watching your vids.. when you’re in the Netherlands again, pay a visit in a small town called ‘Delfzijl’ its upnorth the country. There you’ll find a gem in the surinamese/javanese food called ‘Warung Sejeh’ and try their ‘moksi meti’ and all the other things you please..and afterwards don’t forget the regions specialty which is called ‘eierbal’. You gonna like that too.. kind regards from the Netherlands. 🫶🏽🫶🏽
Im hoping to go later this year to see another brother xxxx .. bless up family ❤❤❤❤❤
awesome man, hope you get to visit, such a beautiful country and on the plus side very similar weather to you being up in the UK. lol. Thank you for the support man, hope you are back to feeling well again too!

Yes, in Amsterdam Bijlmer, Albert Camuslaan 109, Venserpolder
Toko, in Indonesia means shop.
Even in the Netherlands people prefer Surinamese food and it's the best. Even African dish can't compare to it.
Have you tasted all African dishes?
@@kr3539 Not me, but based on other people's food reactions, they always prefer Surinamese.
hey david !! if you are still around dam would like to meet you and show you around..and make you eat some yummy authentic Indian food and may be also cook something for you...also show you cool neighborhood Jordaan !
No way you went to Toko Tjin! Been coming there for 25 yrs my dude. They're the best in town!
Fact: Fish and Chips is from the Netherlands brought by Spanish Sailors to England and sold it in their markets
❤❤❤❤❤
Nice video and good thumbnail

nice video
Miam miam 😋
David in Germany is Turkish food is betteeeeeeer!
I am someone from Suriname and I can tell you that it is better to go to Suriname, there is a big difference between Surinamese food and Dutch Surinamese food!! But bless💯🙏🏼
He already went to Suriname. And Surinamese folks, especially the first-generation in the Netherlands, always cook traditional dishes, exactly like they learned from their elders back home. So, no need for lies here. Skip the takeaways and restaurants and head straight for a home-cooked Surinamese meal made by a Surinamese family. That's where the real deal is.

I agree with you 💯
It's not lahmacun, it's meat bread (etli ekmek) from the city of Konya

Olliebollun 🤣
How you know you are in Amsterdam? They make the Herring idiotproof to eat. No "dangling the fish and sliding it down the hatch causing tourists to choke" there. It is actually known in the rest of the country as "Haring op Amsterdamse wijze" (Herring the Amsterdam way). If you are a tourist and want to try the herring but don't really need that photo op, ask for the Amsterdam way regardless where you are in the Netherlands. Fishmongers will understand and cut up your herring for you. This way you can actually enjoy your Herring instead of potentially picking it up from the ground.
As for Fries, I think even most Dutch will agree that Flemish Fries (not "Belgian fries", there is no such thing_ are superior, Dutch version would be either Grandma or Grandpa fires (Oma/Opa Frieten) that comes close to that. Other food things the Flemish are superior at are Chocolate, Waffels (except the stroopwaffel version of course) and Mussels. Probably beer as well although the Dutch also have some awesome great beers.
The Dutch name of Cod is Bakeljauw, in Surinam it is Bakkeljauw or Klipvis, also known as Bacalhau in Portugal and Bacalao in Norway. a Dried version is also known as Stokvis (stickfish)
I was watching and thinking "I know that man, I know that voice" about your host, then I heard his last name and went OF COURSE.... HOWARD!
I see out of the corner of my eye you have a video in my side feed where you go to Utrecht, that is my city so will be viewing that next.
Nobody travels to Amsterdam/Netherlands for the food, and we all know that. Its horrible, i lived here for 30 years, all food is exported and thats good but to say yeah man Dutch food is cultura
Kibbeling zijn de wangen van de vis… vroeger was dat eindelijk vis vis voor de arme…

Belguim fries are better ❤
Belgium Fries VS Amsterdam Fries 🍟 video coming soon!
Without the multicultural food its not worth to visit Holland because its very basic food.
Nonsense and probably you know that, so why do you react?
Video was a let down, of all the restaurants, why not feature the historic ones related to Dutch culture, this is like watching someone go to Japan to tour the food and watch them compare all the American and Mexican restaurants there.
Dutch culture is that of fishing and international trading and has been for ages. The concept of restaurants came from France together with it's cuisine. National cuisines in Europe are mostly 19th century when the Netherlands was piss poor mostly, the wealthy dined French and a quarter of Amsterdam ate from the charity soup kitchen.
So there is Dutch home cooking, also with lots of foreign influences since forever, and there is restaurant food from foreign origin.
funny first spot is 💯 Dutch 😂
@@Davidsbeenhere First one... First.. So glad you found 1 Dutch restaurant in a Dutch country. Next on Dav's been here, we are going to tour the best Russian Restaurants in Thailand lol Keep it real G!!💯
Respectfully, this is a 10 part series and this is just the first video. Several other videos are dedicated to traditional Dutch foods. You are jumping the plot a bit because this is such a small sliver of the entire series. Stay tuned for the rest of the series before rushing to judgements. Secondly, I've watched Japan videos talking about various cuisines in Tokyo for example. There are a ton of French bakeries, Italian Restaurants etc., and it would be absolutely normal to look up that food as well as traditional Japanese food. There are tons of videos like that. In Europe many of the big cities are multi cultural and absolutely people eat other things than just the traditional food when visiting or exploring. To be honest if you found a tour of Russian Restaurants in Thailand that would be an amazing story and I'd absolutely watch it. It would be a great immigrant story and a microcosm of this globalized world we live in. Thanks for the feedback all that said, have a great one.
Why do you have immigrants displaying traditional dutch roles. This is BS
Dutch roles?😂 The Netherlands has a very diverse society fyi, especially in the big cities. These two tour guides are Dutch citizens of Surinamese descent and know the multi-cultural aspect of Amsterdam very well. Also, do they speak fluently Dutch because Surinam has very close ties with the Netherlands due to her colonial past. So it's not BS. Maybe some research on Dutch colonial history would make you less of a dumb ignoramus.
I really want to try Turkish food now gdm.
