A day exploring Heidelberg | Avalon Waterways Romantic Rhine Cruise

- Join us on the Avalon Waterways Panorama for our first ever river cruise! We joined Avalon Panorama in Amsterdam and spent 7 nights making our way down to Basel on a Romantic Rhine river cruise.
Join us as we arrive at Mainz, where we take the complimentary excursion to Heidelberg, to see Heidelberg Castle (Heidelberger Schloss), a 16th-century red sandstone castle on the hillside.
We then head in to town for a guided tour before a short hike up Philosophers way where we get some stunning views of the town and the castle ruins.
After working up a thirst, we seek out refreshment, thankfully our guide had told us about Vetter's - a micro brewery / brauhaus! After a swift drink or two, it is time to hot foot it back to bus!

It was. No, no charge for the wifi on the ship or via the Whisper. It only uses 3/4g so isn't fast, but perfect to check email and maps etc.
Heidleberg looked lovely. Not sure about the 33% proof beer though 😬

It’s all done on a iPhone, the new iPhones have great stabilisation. You can get gimbals but we don’t.

They usually have two options, they can do it with air or without. Base from price is without airfare.
