Killer riffs, highly underrated amp. Went from a Mesa Triaxis full rack setup to just a JSX to get a great clean along with awesome clanky high gain. I should get another while they are still $600..
I just got one. I traded my shitty Egnater Vengence amp. Got it for $300 with the trade. The asking price was $599. It can do high gain Marshall tone (at least when compared to my Marshall dsl). A lot of bang for the buck as they say.
Just picked up a JSX 212 combo. Monster tones running it into my old 80's PV cab loaded with G12K-85's. Going to make a headshell to make it a head. It's a keeper.
Sounds just like I remembered mine sounding. KT77's in the power section gave the JSX a little more thud in its sound which I loved. Missing my old JSX bad now
I had a Peavey 5150 Signature model back in the early 2000's that I eventually sold for a JSX. I always regretted selling the 5150, so about a year ago I sold the JSX for a 6505+ (5150 II). Now, I kinda miss the JSX lol.
Having a really hard time deciding on picking up one of these versus a 6505+. I have an XXL which is a strong solid state but want more - I just can't make up my mind! I don't want to regret buying one over the other and I definitely can't afford both.
they’re both a bit different but if you’re after versatility, i’d take the JSX. The peavey 6505 is “the sound” but it’s almost like a one trick pony type thing!
Ok, so I went with the JSX and I just could not "bond" the amp. There was nothing wrong with it at all, but it just didn't seem the upgrade I was expecting from the XXL- I couldn't tell THAT big of a difference in the two and that surprised me. A few days later a guy on Marketplace locally traded me his 6505+ and we both walked away VERY happy. He wanted the versatility and I wanted "that sound" of the 6505 and I have it now! I run it with a Teal Stripe Peavey Stereo Chorus 212 with an A/B/Y Pedal for all my clean needs. Brings a smile to my face every time I turn it on. Of course, if I could have gotten my JSX to sound as awesome as you did, I might have kept it! @@HaydenMcCarry
The 6505+ does that "growl" better, but it makes the 1st few stings sound more nasally, in my opinion. The JSX is much more versatile and easier to play at bedroom volumes, too. I own both and have 2 JSX's, (1 with KT77 and 1 with 6L6GC tubes) and the 6505+ gets less usage, but it's there when I need that specific sound that no other amps can capture quite like it.
Are you using EL34s or 6L6s? Sounds amazing? I just ordered one and I'm really excited. I wanted to get a DSL but this thing has 3 channels and a good clean. It really fits my style as a live player I also wanted a 6505 but the clean is almost impossible to get (I tested one) and has only two channels, so I have to compromise to have clean/lead or rhythm/lead 😢

One of the most versatile amps ever. glad I have one.
Thanks for input, amp sounds killer, great riffs 👊
Thanks so much dude!
I'm so glad I kept mine!
It’s 100% a keeper of an amp!
Very cool 😎
First riff sounds like Machine Head’s style
It might be inspired by it..🤣
I've had one for five years. Great amp. I have Tung Sol 6L6GC tubes in mine.
Had mine for almost 2 years and never getting rid!

Epic! Here is one of the best JSX sample i heard
Thanks man i really appreciate the nice words!

It sounds amazing, im loving this amp.
Still a very underrated amp that can be had for $500-$600 all day!
Most of the sellers have it listed closer to $700. I'd like to try one but I think it has a similar tone profile to my 3120.
damn in aus these will run you $1300 and over
Your tone rules
Thank you!!
awesome video! how do you like to have your effects loop levels set? i’ve heard they affect the tone a little
To be fair, I haven’t even checked the levels on the effects loop! Plugged it in, Threw a boost, dialled it and ready to go! Super easy amp to dial!
@@HaydenMcCarry i’ve only just got mine but have been super impressed with what i’ve heard so far!
I also have one of these, if you also put a EQ in the effects loop this thing sounds huge!
1:06 cool camera shot was the picking hand in the reflection intentional?
Thanks man! And yeah, thought it'd look cool haha.
Agreed. A nice subtle touch haha

can’t win!! solution : own both😁
Sounds great! Also would like to know what power tubes are you using.

Thanks man!

this amp sounds like 2 different amps snatch yours before its too late!
How would u rate this with triple and 5150?
I enjoy playing through the JSX the most out of the three, and it was so easy to record with in terms of getting the sound i wanted!
Well it's basically a Triple X with depth and presence knobs so....
The Ultra Channel is basically the Triple X Crunch channel but the JSX Crunch channel is based on the Classic 50.
