This has got to be the most impressive uthermal vid I've seen. Maybe he's done harder challenges, idk, I haven't seen em all for sure. But he never looked in trouble, even against the GM. Insane

Was that a thing? I was wondering if the changelings took on the handicap but I didn't stop to check it.

Definitely a thing. That's a janky way to display it though. Someone took the easy route programming that.
The full-health changeling - looking around and saying "Oh, oh, I am in low health land, better stab myself with a knife just for good measure, otherwise I am busted."

Here is an idea. You can play a game vs a viewer. We all know you are gonna win. But here is the catch: then launch the replay with your opponent, and re-start the game from the 1mn mark before the winning screen..... but switching places! You play him, and he plays you! And your challenge is to change the outcome of the first game by winning again.
You could even re-launch the game 5 sec before gg. Another content creator (I think Harstem?) played games vs diamond players where they replayed a pro game from just before gg, I think the pro won 1 out of 3 games

It was when Marc was playing the Masters game that it finally struck me the fact that whenever he tried to move out and would instinctively consider what could Counter his army, the answer is: Everything. Everything counters everything he has with his hp. even in some cases a couple lowly marines can counter a Grounded viking.
Even if he builds a BC and teleports it into his opponents main, he's not going to have much time to spray Workers before having to hide in the corner.
Yeah, that's why it seems quite "stupid" to try to take down terran with a ground based army. Why should you play against tanks when you could just play air?
Mutas, BCs - that would be incredible strong because all the counters that normally wreck these strategies just don't work with 50% hp.
You need units that shoot air + ground and that fly, to make the tank useless.
I play with handicap on all the time, it makes games much closer/more exciting when playing with friends who I greatly out skill. Makes it more fun for everyone
You say you need double the viking to win a viking war, and need 60% more workers to win a worker fight, which isn't actually the case.
In general, the number you need is the inverse of the square root of the product of hp and dps. In the case of 50% hp, you need about 1.4x your opponent's unit. Look up Lanchester's Law on wikipedia if you want more details; actual mathematicians have already worked out this problem for you. Specifically, the lancherster's square law section, and for the firepower (alpha and beta), substitute in the inverse of time it takes to kill an enemy unit.
I'm giving this a like just for the idea, because I love that you continue to try new challenges that are creative and unique to watch!
You said at the beginning that you didn't understand why they put the handicap option.. Clearly they didn't put a low enough handicap option. You need a "all units have 1hp" version.
The master not building turrets and completely lagging the cheese at the beginning was painful to watch
for real, i personally don't believe the master and grandmaster were actually legit of those leagues, in his discord you can put whatever league you want there is not checks if it is true or not... Of course uthermal is not involved but like, even i (diamond league) would've bulid turret after the second run with those vikings, or even the third, but NEVER? as a Master? no bro absolutely not a master and grandmaster.
I don't think I've ever been more proud than when I noticed the shimmer at 36:34 than uThermal didn't.

Sure, I expected to see sieged units, but still I could never imagine you making it happen in relatively "normal" way without any sneaky tactics (i don't even know what it could be, i just assumed the moment i saw the intro that you came up with a cheese so powerful that it inspired you to do this challenge). uThermal is absolutely incredible and entertaining as hell to watch these challenges... I think he's proving more just the skill gap between a pro gamer (semi-retired now) and a non-pro gamer, even those in GM. The constant awareness and scouting of what his opponent is doing, what's coming, what he needs to do next, and how he needs to react is head and shoulders above fast GM players with good mechanics.

How does this work does the enemy deal 2x damage or do your units have 1/2 health... do you think you'd find this challenege easier if your healthbars were still the normal max but they only ever filled to half? Because you must be so used to how many hits a full healthbar can take but it's misinformation to you now when theyre full green but a different value.
That would mess with repairing

Got a challenge for you that i do myself sometimes, 420 all in. You have to hit your 1st push at 4.20 and rally every building to the enemies base including workers.

here's an idea for a challenge:
Reverse your mouse. e.g. Up is down, down is up, left is right, right is left.
If you're feeling very capable, reverse your keyboard layout too.
I don't think you would beat even a gold player.

Shouldn't Mutas not be a great choice against 50% Terra?
Normally Mutas get wrecked by stim/marines, but with 50% the stim alone takes so much HP from the marine, that the Mutas should win a fight against Marines in the blink of an eye.
And Turrets go down fast, cyclones too.
And the most important thing: Mutas are easy to use. The try with Fungal / Nydus from the Diamond was too ambigious IMO and way too hard to pull off.
Flying units that deal area damage should rule this challenge IMO, because you can't outmicro them.
Think of how much damage could have been avoided if the GM opponent simply built anti-air in each base...
Marc, an idea: play with 90% handicap and the opponents have to guess the challenge to win a coffee. How fast, you think, they're gonna realize that your hit points are slightly off?
Btw, it would be nice to have to sorts of handicap: hit points and damage output.

I'm surprised that Widow Mines weren't used at all in the matches - I would have thought that they would be like the Dark Templar that it's their stealth and boom power that matters instead of their health. Or is that a terrible idea?

I don't get why both the Master and Grand Master opponent didn't make a turret or two at the places that uThermal kept dropping, surely that would be a good idea, especially with the handicap.

It seems like the best strategy vs someone with 50% handicap is getting a lot of units with high fire rate low damage and rushing them.
i believe it would be literally impossible to win against a 12 pool.
Man, these Terrans need to learn how to build turrets...
I was a Master Terran back in the day. I built more turrets and Planataries than the Pros, because I knew my multitasking wasn't as strong.
I'm sure these players can multitask vs other Masters/GMs, but against Pro level Multitasking? You gotta help yourself and build some Static D.

bruh i can't belive that master palyer was actually master league, like, didn't even try with the reaper cheese and all those run downs with the vikings and liberator could've immidiately got shutdown with a couple of turret for each base, like wtf. That is not master league from a mile.
