- I never knew how badly I needed this until it was almost too late. I had a few pucker moments trying to stop before running into a vehicle that pulled out in front of me. It was then when I realized that the stock brakes were not meant to stop all of the additional weight I have added to the Jeep. I shopped around and was between Dynapro, Teraflex, and Powerstop. For the price, I don't think you can do much better than POWERSTOP. I purchased my kit from Autozone which was considerably cheaper than what some of the more popular Jeep shopping sites had it for and nearly saved $800 compared to the closest list price. It pays to take a few moments and look past Quadratec and Extreme Terrain...
The install is easy, the instructions can all be found online at powerstop.com along with helpful videos. I know Jason from Autoedits really likes these brakes and has put out a few videos of his own out there which are outstanding.
I know this video is a little longer than usual but I tried to cram a lot of stuff into it to keep it helpful for those who have never changed rotors, calipers, or brake lines. There is a process in the initial set up of the brakes which is important and I followed up my initial OEM brake test with a test of the new brakes. I was completely shocked with how much difference there really was between the two.
If you have a modified Jeep, it is critically important that you upgrade your brakes if you haven't done so already.
