It’s old school TH-cam. You find a person you like and you spend a part of your day with them. It’s what made people fall in love with the platform in the first place, and something that I thought died. You watch most modern content, it’s either massive budget tv style content, reaction content, or repetitive video essays. Sam is just an inviting personality that drops gems sometimes. I can’t watch all his stuff, but whenever I do, it feels like your hanging out with the guy. That’s what the platform used to be.

Great comment. Sam Sulek's channel reminds us what youtube was originally meant for. With so much youtube content now that consists of big budget, professional productions with in-your-face marketing and advertising, it's refreshing to have content creators like Sam Sulek that you can just watch and relax without feeling like it's all an elaborate sales pitch.

"You find a person you like and you spend a part of your day with them" ---> This was so well said and you're absolutely right. TH-cam used to be like that: simple, chill, and hella more authentic. But what sucks is that most videos made back then would have suchhh a hard time blowing up/gaining recognition nowadays.

I realized that the secret to making a million is saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks and made about $246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded again and now I am rounding up close to a million.

authenticity is the real answer to sum this entire thing up, can be 1 hour, 2 hours, 5 minutes long, it doesn't matter the length. It's why streaming is so wildly successful right now and connects many people together in communities, because there's no room for editing out parts, mistakes, it's just raw.

I hate how with majority of content now a days there's constant cuts, sub titles and sound effects every few seconds. I sort of hope this kind of TH-cam 'style' (style-less) comes back because it will reward actual people with real genuine personalities. At the moment, it's a case of whoever has the biggest budget and editing team with a presenter who reads from a carefully crafted script. I don't mind bigger productions, but often you'll find that the TH-camrs presenting them aren't that interesting without all of that. Some are, some aren't. Sam is a rarity, but hopefully not an exception. Hopefully, his case proves you can still grow by being your authentic self.
I'm sick of being sold to, videos and often whole channels made purely for the sake of business and selling. Sick of constant jump cuts and mad editing that is hard to watch as if we're children who need an incessant flicker of shapes and colours to stay watching.

With Sam, he got popular because all the other fitness influences were talking about him. They were talking about him because he was huge and had a controversial approach to his diet. That was the talking point. His dirty bulk and the really clean cut. So a lot of people want to get info on how to get big like him. But I agree authenticity plays a part here.

Sam’s content for what I’ve heard is an example of “simple but effective” which is the kind of content that fellows like myself really enjoy! None of that face-paced editing show that gives me a headache.
Of course there’s the nostalgia from the old days of TH-cam that might have something to do with that.
Plus with more simpler videos, people don’t necessarily have to watch watch them, they can just have it on the background while they are doing something else. Either that be something on the computer or playing a game.

I like to think I'm a pretty genuine person, so what remains is to become more confident being myself, both in my content & IRL. This is something I've struggled with ever since my early teens but I'm slowly improving. I can't promise to be the most interesting guy around but I'm very passionate about a lot of things & that's something I'd like people to see 😄

My attention to detail is what makes my actual artwork so impressive but its a curse in so many other areas. He has got the winning combination. Being a TH-camr is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like businessman should offer product/service that people need. And when the growth becomes real, you can consider hiring people to help you run your channel more efficiently. The most difficult part is starting and growing of course, but consistency and hard work (with a little bit of Famester of course to help) will always pay off at the end. Good luck to everybody, I hope everyone is going to succeed one day.

I'm amazed at how just being yourself and putting out content is something people like - It's what I've been doing with my own channel - I was asked to be on a radio show pod cast a couple months ago which I did for 6 weeks in a row, problem was the shows antics were outdated. The constant snarkiness and "morning radio show" format isn't what TH-cam is about - I did a video for my viewers explaining why I wouldn't be doing that show anymore, the show attacked me for that video, so I did another one where I pointed out what you're saying here. TH-cam is supposed to be about average people sharing their lives, if it gains followers that's great, it it doesn't that's fine, too.... It's about people doing what they want and just putting it out there. So many of us are sick-and-tired of the overly produced TV/film stuff that, in large part, is designed to program your mind with BS.... Good for Sam and good on you, man...

Im 100% sure if he had gotten a channel audit from VidIQ on Tuesday's live, when he was at 8k subs, they would have said the same generic thing Thumbnails and titles. But look where his style got him. You think Sam is using VidIQ to do keyword research 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and he is in a veryyy competitive niche. Makes me feel like I should be doing less keyword research.😢

I think everyone is just forgetting the obvious and is oblivious to the idea on why Sam Sulek actually blew up. Go to a few channels that comment on any video and take a look at their non-edited and no thumbnail designed videos. The harsh reality is that a lot of people are lying to themselves that they can get somewhere without any editing or any thumbnail designs. Theres always going to be some hard work that needs to put in, like in Sam's case its the fact that he stands out for his insane use of steroids and his overall gym rat vibes. In any one's else case, theyll just post a video on a really competitive niche and hope that it'll blow up like Sam's without putting any effort. You can't expect to grow without putting in the effort. Success doesn't fall out of the sky.

You also overlooked the speed at which he gained fame. If he had focused on editing from the beginning, people would have noticed him more quickly. This makes me so happy. I film my first video on the 25th of this month. I actually had the same idea for video style just bc im lazy. Lol. Im a 35 yr old. 508lb man. Who used to be VERY athletic. Very healthy. Very strong… then life happened. Stress.
Now im old. Handicapped with bad knees, high blood pressure, anemic, and pre diabetic.
What a good base to start from! I had a kid on 2020. And current world events have finally triggered me into action. Time to get healthy. I gotta be able to protect my kid. And rn i know i really couldn’t if i needed to. Thats a really crappy feeling to feel. Talk about emasculating! Time to fix that. I think fixing these feelings will also help with depression and my anxiety.
So my videos will be basic progress, accountability, and mindset updates. I figured if i stay accountable to my audience, i can also have better odds in getting the results that i want by having positive reinforcement at my finger’s tips by just scrolling through my comments and mentions.

After signing up and speaking to the coaches and staff to make sure I could film. I went ahead an set up and recorded my first video. I did a bench press one rep max test, my max rn is 177lbs. after that i did 4 sets of 12 rows with 100lbs for each set. Im SORE af today. But its nap time for my son so i just loaded all my footage into the cpu to start editing it. I hope people will be interested. But if not, i liked talking to the camera anyway. Kinda felt like therapy session a little bit. Lol

Sam is just a charismatic dude with seemingly no filters and his channel is about a very simple thing and he stays 100% true to that. It is just so refreshing and relaxing to follow a "normal" dude through his training. You know what to expect when you watch his videos. He notorius for his awful diet, mediocre training regiment and pumping himself with huge quantity of steroids at really young age to achieve that phisique.
Because of that most youtubers in fitness space made videos on him, warning their audience that if they do this they will likely just kill them self by age of 35. Which will most likely happen to sam if he doesnt stop what he is doing.

Literally just came across Sam's channel yesterday and subscribed. My experience - I clicked bc he's an absolute HOUSE of a human and I was intrigued. He also has an interesting look - with the long hair - aesthetically he definitely stands out a bit. Watched about 5-10 mins, fast forwarded a bit - found his video to be pretty boring, but his physique obviously very impressive. Honestly I'm not very into that type of long form content - don't usually have the time or patience for it. I was actually pretty surprised when I realized the entire video was just him casually talking. Subscribed bc he seemed interesting and YES authentic but was kind of surprised how huge his following was - figured there must be more there, or maybe he's just the ultimate BRO and people love it. A sub costs me nothing so I'll see what else he puts out as he comes across my feed. Also sure he has some good fitness advice. But probably not going to be one to sit down and watch 40 minutes of him walking through the grocery store talking about chicken. May not even end up watching many more of his vids. But he definitely seemed a bit "different" from your typical fitness channel and that was refreshing. It's fun to take a glimpse into the lives of these people and see how others live their day to day, even if it's just a quick peek and then I'm onto other things.
Very fascinating who and what becomes popular on this platform (or any platform). Good discussion of this on this vid. You also have a sub from me now. I give them out like candy.

What a crazy paradox that this old school version of content creation is getting amazing traction when Google cancels anyone with anything real to say.
It's grotesque that we have to find an authentic niche but also stay within the acceptable parameters of the algorithm.
Sulak is fortunate his interests don't delve into subjects that are contraband on the platform. He will be blessed monetarily for being vanilla.

TBH I thought Sam was like 30 something years old haha. I just found his stuff a few days ago and agree. I create a similar type of content but not as long. Been growing but very slowly, slow growth is fine but this is a great analysis on Sam's growth. Amazing. Thank you!

Hey thanks a lot! Yeah growth is growth. We just gotta learn what we're doing right one piece of content at a time.

Some videos are so over the top with fast-talking, cuts, and constant visual changes that you have to watch it at a lower speed just to keep up. I kid you not, I had a video that I had to put at .25 to follow it. This video feels like the perfect balance, not too much so that it's over-stimulating but still entertaining

Because he’s authentic and a no bs type of guy, who doesn’t do stupid stuff just to get views. The combination of being passionate about working out along with teaching people how to lift, is a recipe for a huge viewership

This has got to be my favorite TH-cam tip video as my channel is all about sharing mindful tools to tap into your authentic creativity. I’ll have to rethink how I present the info. more personably.

Thank you for your videos, they have helped me a lot on my way through TH-cam, but I still have a question and that is do the daily shorts that you published affect the long videos? Greetings from Cuba

This is really the thing I really like about YT, that there is a place for this kind of content. Slower. That doesn't kick your brain into a crazy frenzy and leave you feeling like your eye balls is spinning. It's like when you put on Friends on TV just to have some company, only here you watch a regular person.

Thank you for this video. I’m starting to obsess the proper way to upload my video and kind of shorten it as I would have thought who will watch 2 hours of my WIP doing my art anyways, I think I’ll leave it that way and give a proper asmr feel of how it feels like. Plus if I do it that way I guess it takes away the time for me to stress on video editing and stuff and focus more on what matters, making my art. Also this way I’ll be able to leave a video footprint of my stuff and no need to buy a hard drive for storage haha. Thank you mate, I appreciate this video a lot

Watched now the newest vid from Sam, never seen him before. Apart from his pleasant and calm personality he has some film skills: really good audio, good framing and image quality. Colours are nice, focus on point, calm camera movement (none). That fit the mood and his personality.
