100% agree with this, it's always the authentic channels that I end up watching most of the time because I love to hear what they speak about. Just started my channel on this form of content since its something that I wanted to do for awhile, hoping to be like them one day and impact people's lives!

Well said. We actually mentioned this in our newest video about Ryan Trahan, basically he was doing the same CTR/Retention hacking before, but now he's doing simpler videos but much greater story-telling wise and they just feel more comfortable.

I absolutely love the unique cinematic look in your videos!!🔥It makes me feel like I am watching a movie:) And you're right- people are so bored of retention editing. That's why this guy, Wizard Liz and many other small channels started to grow like crazy in such a short time. But do you think people started to get bored with hyperedited thumbnails too? Is it really okay for small channels to still use some b-roll in their videos? I feel like there's still something that we're missing about the lack of retention editing strategy.. but I can't put my finger on it.. Those creators that don't edit their videos definitely have a lot more confidence in their energy & message.
I think thumbnails are a bit different in that regard, it has to be something that grabs attention, because no clicks - no views
Although I think there are many cool unorthodox style thumbnails that can grab attention, especially because they're standing out.
I'm all for the B-roll, it's necessary, but it should have a point in my opinion, to emphasize a narration or something(not just effects for the sake of flashiness and fast pace), and if we create our own B-roll it also adds a unique touch to the video

As a video editor myself I still love to edit my videos, although I switched my focus to the essence of the video, instead of the flashy effects and fast paced Mr. Beast style editing.

Couldn't agree more. Its the equivalent of a big studio pumping in so much money into the VFX budget only to have a shit story! And audiences walk out of the cinema.

But that's how it is in life, I guess, nothing is 100% unique, every idea it's just an interpretation of someone else's idea, through the lens and life experience of the creator
Its the increase in stress levels...sometimes this crazy videos are for laughs or comic relief
True! I really like Max0r for example. Who has the craziest video game reviews on TH-cam
But in his videos for example I can see that this has a purpose, It's like a form of art lol
But a lot of times people are trying to replicate someone like Mr. Beast even in educational videos and it feels very forced, in my opinion

Right. but even if you are not going for mass appeal and adsense level of following, if you don't placate the algorithm for retention time, no one will see it, not even your potential loyal followers. I agree that editing is only part of it.

Of course you have to understand trends, and have an idea on how to create engagement in the video
but as you said editing is just a part of it, and these days hyper-editing, flashy effects and stuff like that becomes less and less engaging for people

I was mostly talking about retention based "Mr. Beast style" of editing with a bunch of screaming, special effects, etc.
I absolutely cannot stand Retention Editing. I love Ironmouse and CDawgVA. They both use the same editing team and their editing style is simply annoying.
It's like a hyperactive child trying to turn EVERY 3 seconds into "Comedy Gold" by shoving tired internet Memes into our faces...during a Sugar rush. Completely overwashing CDawg and Mousey, who are genuinely funny when at THEIR pace.

It's actually how I felt when I was starting video editing, that I have to make like a punchline every 5 seconds lol
