Your delivery is so great, the quality of the videos is consistent and excellent and thankfully you are not following the trend of hyper-energetic "TH-camrs" - you just seem capable, competent, knowledgeable, and approachable. Great channel. Thanks for the work.

@Oatmeal I had always used Windows until a couple of years ago when I finally purchased a Chromebook after wanting to try it for a few years. Let's just say my two laptops that have Windows 10 hardly ever get touched now at all. There are ways to do what you need to do on a Chromebook and like someone else said there is online MS Office. I'll probably put Linux Mint or something on my other laptops eventually.

So true - I have had Windows devices up to now, now with the Asus Cromebook no need to wait endlessly for the annoying lengthy Windows updates...And recently Microsoft has been selling our personal data to 3rd party folks - the ensuing ads and Emails are so annoying. For the $ this Asus 17" is a best buy, agree fully.

Can't believe with that much room they skipped out on having an HDMI out port. I kinda get it though if you're carrying this beast around you can carry a USB to HDMI dongle...Nice dotted polo Robbie!

For work, I use a 17 in Dell Precision. Yes it is heavy but for the actual time I carry it it is not burdensome compared to the productivity it offers. When traveling, you are able to do many things that just can't be done effectively on a smaller computer...especially when on an airplane.
I have been using the Acer Chromebook with the 15 inch format since day 1. I have smaller format Chromebooks but the larger screen and upward firing speakers has all but relegated the small ones to the office shelf. Again, the larger format and heavier weight is such a minor inconvenience and the actual time during a day, week, month, year that you actually actually carry it, compared to not, is miniscule. If you choose to, you can leave a lot of peripherals at home because the larger format Chromebook (any computer) has sufficient features on board. Full keyboard, large mouse pad, large screen (vs an adjunct monitor). Once you add lugging around all the peripherals needed for your small format Chromebook, are you really saving any size and weight? Also, when traveling, you don't have to break out your mini-desktop goodies to get any real work done.
I've in IT since the 1970s. Back when mobile phones and computers were 'transportable'. In many, if not most cases, the smaller (smallest) ones were a status symbol. Up until yesterday :-), with my department, this is still the case. The people that wish to get the most work done, while on the road, carry a 15 in or above. Most of those that only check email and delegate while on the road, in addition to those that want bragging rights of having the smallest, fastest, thinnest computers, request the small format computers.
    My 2 ¢.

It will be exactly the same size as all other USBC chargers. Just because it has a larger screen doesn't mean it needs a larger charger. Your phone charger will work perfectly if it's one of the newer 18w ones.

Looks a good Machine for the price, i'm currently using an Acer CBT-HT 515, (15 inch) but 17 inch would definitely eliminate any need for external monitors! The numeric keypad is a handy extra, although one thing I noticed from the vid, the touchpad is offset to the left, that might take a bit of getting used to, although I use a mouse a lot of the time anyway. I only ever use my Chromebook indoors anyway. The external profile looks a bit 'square' rather than the usual curved edges of other models.
Are there any plans for a premium aluminium bodied model?

I do more than 70% of my work programming. Not graphics, weird back-end stuff; and I use keyboard Linux on the Chromebook linux beta. And it works remarkably well, even on a fairly ancient Asus 13.3 inch. How I lust after one of these things. Faster and oodles of real estate. As for the size and weight, I work in the office (ie my kitchen) mostly, so movement can be managed. A wheelbarrow if necessary.

Few things about this model.. it is NOT that large compared to the previous gen Acer 15 laptops with the upward speakers.. less than an inch width difference but the screen on this one blows doors on anything else IMO.. You can put this on a BED and not worry about speakers being muffled or any fans needing to turn on , getting the unit very hot because of blocked vents.. This one is care free .. The best buy unit with the Pentium comes with a CineCrystal screen so it is far superior IMO to this matte finish anti glare in this video. . Only drawback is the weight.. The Pentium version is just as quick on day to day internet stuff as the higher level chips IMO.. If you are doing heavy computing with software.. of course you can notice some difference but the Pentium 6000 is no slouch.

Sometimes I feel the only negative about the Chromebooks is its ads. They try a lot to compare with mac and Windows rather than saying it's a new style of doing things.
They also show gaming and other stuff which Chromebooks aren't really good as of now. Anyhow, I feel if you are getting a $400 or less laptop, Chromebooks are the only good option.
Really waiting for Professional services like Adobe, Autodesk, etc comes to Chromebook just like Krita. So that high range Chromebooks will make sense.

Does anyone know how to change default mapping of f3 key in chrome os to something different as I am not able to use blender using Linux inside chrome as f3 is for search in blender and its not working as it's inbuilt mapped for chrome.
PS: neither I am able to find keymapping inside blender, doing just for curiousity not affecting anything but it's disappointing if chrome has keys mapped to inbuilt functions because of which it hampers use of full productivity softwares. It then nulls the value of having Linux alongside

    I don't think this is a Laptop.
It's a Desktop, probably aimed at 90% desk work for businesses or home workers.

Agreed. The whole reason I have a Chromebook is so I don't have to lug my huge 17" Dell XPS with me everywhere.
