This is one of my favorite episodes, My favorite parts from this episode is Donald was being rude to Mr. Gente's waiters, while Ann was being impressed. I remember that Donald told Ann that Mr. Gente was a professional burnt roast fixer upper after she burnt the roast.
I don't think I ever realized before how disrespectful Ann is to Don as her boyfriend in various episodes, including this one. She knows this other fellow is coming on to her, but she is enjoying the attention so much that she encourages him rather than giving him the cold shoulder -- and then expects Don to go along with her pretense that the guy is just being nice, it's all innocent, and so forth. She does the right thing at the very end, but it takes her a while. She is so cute that I can see why Don puts up with it, but it would be nice he were a bit less pliable sometimes.
@georgemole9790 i have said this before in various episodes. Ann emasculates Donald repeatedly, anytime she does not get her way. She is very annoying. She only gives in when Donald gives in. Is this how the modern American woman in the 60's did it? She makes Donald look like a boy unless he loses his calm. Her behavior is not cute no matter how she looks.
Even the simplest lines can be delivered so differently by different actors. Donald's saying of the line "I'll be back" could not be more different from the same line as spoken by Arnold Schwarzenegger,
If Don was not with Ann so much it would be like she were cheating on him because in 2 or 3 eps she had a guy in her apt. This one, for one. She is so ignorant about men. Unreal.
Unlikely that they could have this conversation through the front door, all the way to the bathroom door...through the closed door (she said to "knock" on the bathroom door) and into the shower...
Only in Rear Window and this episode do waiters bring food from fancy restaurants to NY apts. Here the waiters stayed. Mr Gente played the mayor in Animal House. Don is usually very nice but he was mean to the waiters. They didn't do anything to him and were professionals. Lots of people won't date someone who treats servers poorly. And Don said he left his clothes in Ann's apt because it was the one place he wouldn't forget them. Which makes no sense. Then he forgot them, so Ann could tell Gente she had men's clothes in her closet.
Ann gets stuck in the shower at the beginning and end of the show. Despite having just taken a shower, both times she is perfectly dry and still wearing makeup.
This show is ridiculous. I really don't know why I have been watching them. The whole series is based on a weird premise that Ann & Donald love each other, but they never have sex, nor do they want to get married, and Ann is pursued by other men in every other episode. And they must always make a big deal about how they are wholesome and not sleeping together. Yet Ann is sexualized in every episode. It's quite a stupid premise based in the repressed sexuality of 1960's television. I guess I watch it because I love her outfits.

Don spent about $12 for a "fancy" dinner date with Ann. A meal at McDonald's costs more than that today.
Hell a cold dry quarter pounder is over six bucks. Not worth it.

This empty apartment looks just like Don's apartment...guess they saved money by using the same set.
The empty apt had a sunken floor on entry, unlike hers, which is a terrible design. Otherwise very similar.
