I saw this 50 years ago for the first time, and I could still remember some of Bea Arthur's barbs even before I watched this episode ("Love and Marriage") just now. She was a great comedic actress. It seems that Norman Lear had a talent for casting actors who could bring their role to life like no one else on Earth. Bea Arthur, Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton -- I can't imagine that anyone else could have played those roles so beautifully. Thank you to whoever posted these videos.
I remember the first time I saw this. When I heard that she had to quit because she "wouldn't supply in the supply room" i thought that's sexual harassment. Then it dawned on me, this is from 1972, that wasn't even a term back then.
It wasn't a term but they called it "being chased around the desk" etc. It was definitely a common thing - they would just stare at your tits while you were discussing work and they would smirk at each other and make jokes about your body or whatever right in front of you! And the catcalling - my God.
@@adriennerango1519I'm sure it was common and based on what I read and heard there was no legal recourse for it unfortunately. It's sad that women had no solution, in some cases, other than to quit there jobs just because they would refuse the sexual advances from their boss.
Marriage without love is the one I had with a prominent doctor in our community. Don't marry a prominent man unless you truly comprehend how UN-private your life will become and you're okay with him working nonstop.
Maude is definitely fabulous.😊

Walter: Now come along!! Give me my dinner.
Me: (thinking) You have two working legs. Get your own damn dinner!

Carol's future husband dated Lucy on the Lucy Show in 1963, he's way too old for Carol, she's 27??///// in the show..
Carol doesn’t care…she just needs a man to take care of her!🙄
God, I love how Carol's feminist ideals fly out the window when she's looking for a meal ticket.
This episode was way before Maude’s “facelift”.🙄😂
