    Guadalajara Vlog (We Love This Place)
    You guys said you wanted a longer video - so here it is! This is everything we did in Guadalajara for a week, minus all the restaurants we ate at which will be in next week's video. We loved walking and biking around this incredible city, and there is so much to do we definitely will be back. If you've been to Guadalajara and have any recommendations, leave them in the comments for our future visits!

      Visit the weekly market in the Santa Tere neighborhood. I believe it's twice a week...can't remember. Oh, and not sure if you're both into clubbing anymore but visit Monica's bar for a big ole' gay party night. : )

      it's a fun day-trip. Great local art - not imported stuff from China...REAL ART AND CRAFTSMANSHIP! Awesome street food. Skipped the restaurant scene, it was out of my budget. Overall a fun time.

      Did you hang out at the Templo Expiatorio for Sunday evening? The plaza comes alive with vendors, food, and dancing. It’s a great spot any evening, but Sunday nights are magical. And you found one of the best rentals in Americana! I’ve stayed in that building several times and have already booked for July.

    I spent 3 months in Guadalajara and I also feel like I just scratched the surface, lol. I definitely think that exploring all of the public art, sculptures, and monuments is one of the most enjoyable things to do there. Some places I recommend to check out on your next trip are Bosque los Colomos, Parque Mirador/Barranca de Huentitan, Zapopan centro, Chapalita, and a day trip to Lake Chapala.

    Just beautiful video guys on so many levels. 1st. because like I told you before Guadalajara was my home for ten years and it was the city where I truly felt comfortable being gay for the first time after coming out in college in California. 2nd because the videography is awesome in this vid...such amazing editing! 3rd, which is really 1st on an intellectual level is that as a political science and Latin American Studies major you took the time and the effort to read or simply look up historical facts to narrate the video as you visited the different locations in the city...fuerte abrazo to you both for that because so many travel youtubers are too lazy and just post useless crap. Keep it up!

    Guadalajara is a 6-million-people vibrant lively metropolis. Modern areas with huge malls and skyscrapers, subway lines, and good highways are blended with history, art, beautiful old architecture, food, music and more. The people are almost always warm and frienly. There are tons of places to go within and around the big city. Chapala, Ajijic, Tequila, the impressive zoo, to mention but a few. Guadalajara is cosmopolitan and traditional. Has it all.

    wow - you two just hit the best of the city. I love Guadalajara because I tend to meet people from all over the world, who are attending university. Making it such a great international destination. I love Mexican food, but not every night. Great Korean food and Ramen joints to try. And all the wonderful urban coffee joints. I'm enjoying your lens of Guadalajara. You're enjoying the full city not just the touristy areas. Being bike friendly, and what I would call a very progressive city, reminds me of home, (the good parts of Portland Oregon). It's my favorite city in Mexico!! And you two highlight it so well. Great vlog! The cathedral you're standing in front of at the end of the vlog (I should remember the name) has a wonderful weekend market and food vendors on the weekend. It's a great place to hang out in the evening....dancing, family friendly, did I mention the food? It really comes alive.

    Loved Your Tour of GDL! I used to have a place in El Centro, near Mercado Alcade. Mibici is a lifesaver if you don't have a car. If you do have a car, there are safe pay per hour/day garages everywhere. The cost of living is Guadalajara is HALF of what I pay currently in Vallarta...from living expenses to food to travel...super afforfable big city living. A great day trip is to San Juan Cosala ln Lake Chapala. They have numerous natural hot springs on the lake! Day passes are available and reasonably priced. Also, Guadalajara is home to a major International Film Festival every year on/near the University campus. So much talent from around the world gathers to showcase their films. You'll never run out of things to do there. Make sure to go to the gay club 'Babel' in El Centro...a great mix of people and good times. ~Salud You Two 🙏🏼

    Very nice city!!!!! Very metropolitan and vintage the perfect balance imo. Not too big or small in the middle. Very hip place at night.

    Fun fact guys (talking about age): Mexico in general is a very “young” country with a median age of 28; in CDMX it’s 27. My guess is that since GDL is an economic center, it also attracts the young ppl just starting their careers. By comparison, the U.S. median age is 38, Western Europe ~45 and places like Germany & Japan with a rapidly graying population-> 47!!

    • @TravelWTravis
      @TravelWTravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those ARE fun facts and we can definitely feel it!

    Hi guys. I lived in Gaydalajara for 8 years. I missed very much GDL. I am glad you liked what is considered by many Mexicans to be Mexico's gay capital.

    • @TravelWTravis
      @TravelWTravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It did rain a bit (kind of like Florida - it would dump for twenty minutes and then blue skies again)

    How are you guys managing without knowing much Spanish? As you travel from place to place it would be interesting to hear about the differences of where it is easier to get by with English and where it is more of a struggle

    • @TravelWTravis
      @TravelWTravis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea! Our Spanish has gotten pretty decent over the past year - we've been studying with RocketSpanish and highly recommend them!
