Can totally relate to Neruda. Had the same kind of situation with a mismarked turn on a race, and it sucks! Now I always double check the route and memorize key turns where courses may overlap. I’ve learned never rely on a marker… know your course 😂
I think we've all made a wrong turn a few times in a TT, gravel, road, or fondo type race/event. But I have never gotten lost in a crit or 'cross race 😎.
100% feel for those like Neruda that followed the arrows and went right. Raced the 50 mile Big Sugar route too this year but I followed my Garmin telling me to go left however 3 guys I was in a group with went right. So frustrating to have a race impacted by that. Great job to the whole Phase II. Great video content.
I've coached world class racers and seen them take wrong turns (blew up their position) Leadvile, Brec Epic, Gravel Worlds, etc_they are so talented yet not in the operational art, my solution was for me to pre-ride and look for wrong turn traps and make sure they "Trust" their judgement and or fix the marking of the course. Seen it lots of times. Great series, great Photography. Biggest takeaway AV "you picked good people" for this. Hat tip. Avery knows how to capture the emotion with the lens and light. Another Hat tip.
I was there! Meredith and I were in that group taking the wrong turn. Definitely a tough spot on the day.
Totally agree, although you can learn a lot more in that moment if you take it all in
Wonderful stuff! Can't wait to see how the new generation of riders develop the sport of gravel racing!
Thanks! We cant wait either!
Cheers to Alexy, Avery and every sponsor for investing in the next generation. Great story here, let's keep it going for 2025!

It can be the worst!

Awsome videos great job guys! It gave me a new look on how I should be training. Maybe I’ll beat Alexey at Iceman next year lol.
Can't wait for it! - Alexey

YES!
right on
Good work fellas. 👊
Thanks!
Sick series 🤙
Thank you!
How was it so poorly marked? I get following your GPS, but why arrows pointing the wrong way?
There were two courses that were splitting at that corner so there were arrows going both ways
Why have gps and dl courses if youre not going to use it?
Sometimes in the heat of the race it is hard to make those decisions when you are coming up to the corner, always seems easier after! - Alexey
What does privateer racing mean? Is that someone who's not on a professional team?
Yep! Someone who is working on a solo program with sponsors and partners without a traditional team structure
Hey Alexey tell Silca to make that tire pressure gauge again!
hahaha, I will pass it along!
