Wow, you had the guts to dive into this module. I still need to find the courage. Again, congrats with the 15.1K, we seem to be in sync. I wonder if modulars ever become mainstream so we can get to that 100K mark one fine day. I often feel we'll need to do something different to get out of the niche. Maybe dive from a cliff with a modular set, or play in a shark cage. Anyway, you're the best in what you do as you do it. It can't be copied. It's not just the gear, it's the music.
I had the guts to do a very surface level dive in the shallow end lol! We're definitely in a niche scene here - 100K seems a long way off haha! I'll wait to see how you get on with the cliff dive shark cage before I attempt that one :P
That phrygian (?) jam with the spectral freeze was lovely. You did a great job highlighting how powerful this module is, so good to see someone showing what amazing things you can get out of it rather than moaning about it.
I've had the MK3, 2x MK4's and now a EX in my 312hp system. The ultimate Swiss army knife module. Also the best value of any module I have owned, he keeps updating it!
Dude the spectral freeze jam what the hell I need a whole ep of that Also so happy you’re doing dusting ex stuff! So slept on but understandable since it is very daunting to approach. Killing it as always ❤
Loved the chilled vibe on this one, thanks. I use the wonderful, ever-improving TouchOSC DistingEX patches on my iPad to overcome the native UX. There are also a couple of MIDI DistingEx patches for the Electra One controller (I created one with controls for a few algos). Really makes it integrate with my modular noodlings….
@@TheUnperson had mine since Synthfest and I am still stuck on the Dream Machine 🤣 and, I mean, where do you even start?! you could easily spend the next 12 months diving in to what the NT can do and in that time I am sure more algorithms will be added I look forward to your first thoughts 👍 cheers, andy
Nice demo of a great module. Have you looked at the FH-2? It might interest you! Also, have tou tried the web based editor for the EX? It really opens up the module and makes using and setting up the functions a lot easier. Cheers ✌️
I’m definitely gonna look into the web editor as it will really simplify the menu diving. I haven’t looked into the FH-2 but I will check it out thanks!
Great jams as usual, and everytime I see someone do musical things with the Disting, I just wonder whether I can handle all of the menu diving. That said, 8HP for all of that power is pretty compelling.
I love the IDEA of the disting and the original was one of my first 10 modules and helped a lot, but the horrible GUI which for me males the module feel absolutely lifeless and hinders any personal connection made the Ex my least used module. I really tried a few algos but I never connected.
I agree that it's a bit tough to get a grip on the UI of the Disting EX. If it wasn't for Os being an amazing human with top notch support and responsiveness, I may have given up on Expert Sleepers. But he's just so active in the ES community on ModWiggler and brings so much to the table (support, feature requests, new algorithms, firmware updates, etc) that it was worth getting over those initial hurdles. I ended up getting an FH-2 to pair with Disting EX and it's such an amazing module (much easier to use too IMO) and has become the heart of my modular rig. I wish more manufacturers were like Os! I'm an Expert Sleepers fan for life!!
@@Dan_Delix get it. It’s so worth the price, and once you understand moving around it and how Andrew typically has everything set up, it becomes a real work horse for something you may be missing or wanting to try in the context of what you already have.

Lovely stuff throughout!
Cheers man!
I cannt have a coffee within a mile of my synths

My knowledge of modes isn’t so good, but it may well be Phrygian! Glad you enjoyed it!

Wonderful sounds
Andrew is a mad man. My Disting mk4 is invaluable. Especially for having a small case.
He certainly is! Haha

I’ve had a few comments about that now ~ I’ll definitely be checking it out thanks!!
I bought the Disting EX just because of the spectral freezer, just wonderful
I think I’m gonna dive a bit more into it ~ I’ve only had a quick play with it so far.
Excellent demo.. dusting mine off after using it for reverb/delay for a while
It’s definitely great having both delay and reverb in the dual effects mode!
Nice dude❤
Thanks!
can't wait for you to a similar exploration of the NT 😉
Got a vid coming this Sunday ~ tho it’s more of a first exploration as I’ve only had the module a week or so!

Depends how good your eyes are lol
chek to control the distinct with touch osc interface so so nice
I’ve heard very good things about it so will definitely check it out!
Damn, now I want one. Thanks a lot. ;). Would anyone recommend the EX over the mk4? Is it worth it?
I'd definitely say it's worth getting the EX over the mk4.
What is the master clock? It’s not clear how Pams is staying in sync.
I don’t use master clocks :P
@@TheUnperson O I C, you’re just using the KO-2 in short enough spurts that tempo drift isn’t an issue? Cool.
@@jbum yea, I find that things generally stay in time for about 5 mins or so.
@@TheUnperson That saves a LOT of headaches. Thanks for that!

Are you referring to the EX or the mk4? Because I’m considering the mk4 as a utility/additional filter
