This is the first time I have seen shocks put on without a vehicle jacked up and or without taking off the tire. I believe I can DO IT myself after watching you work❣️🖤😌 You are appreciated❣️
as others have stated, best 02-06 chevy rear shock video. from the camera angles to the quick and precise explanation and quips. also not needing to jack up the vehicle. cheers for sharing, mate!
@@backyardchevy328 I just finished the job…. I got way more dirty than you did. But I did leave the wheels on like in your video. That saved me that additional step. Now it’s off to get gas for a shake-down run. My kid is driving it 300 miles tomorrow. It should behave way better on the highway.
Loved the attention to detail, camera on the work performed and the detailed description of tools and sizes used. Question...? You didn't need to remove the tire?
buen video!!! si pueden mas adelante enseñarme como cambiar el filtro de aire acindicionado en una silverado 2013.... se los agradesco!! he aprendido muchi con uds!!! saludos desde chile!!!
Yes its safe to do so..since its just a shock absorber the spring is what will carry and hold the weight of the truck..the shock absorber is just meant to absorb the springs motion..but being thats its standing still theres no spring motion
My lower bolts were put in the other way around...as in the head of the bolt was by the wheel. Mechanic did that last time. Does it matter? Could barely get a ratchet in there
@@jonz2989 no, not if u dont lift it..the spring is what holds the weight of the truck, the shock absorber just absorbs and dampens the movement of the spring
This is by far the best self help video. Watched it and switched out the shocks in under a hour and a half with all the rust. Thank you so much!

No jack stands, no lifting. Nice!!!
Yea it definitely saves a lot of time🙂
@@backyardchevy328 what is the proper air pressure on the front tires.
@@CC-jt4tv 33 psi
So I can take the shocks off with out taking tires off or jacking the truck up ??
Excellent
Did you use a torque wrench for the whole job?
Quick question? You never raised the truck off the ground to change them?
No, i did it while it was on the ground
So just wondering is this safe without jacking up the vehicle does it put any stress on other suspension?
Yes its safe to do so..since its just a shock absorber the spring is what will carry and hold the weight of the truck..the shock absorber is just meant to absorb the springs motion..but being thats its standing still theres no spring motion
My lower bolts were put in the other way around...as in the head of the bolt was by the wheel. Mechanic did that last time. Does it matter? Could barely get a ratchet in there
It doesnt matter..itll do the job either way but yea u may encounter difficulties the other way
Do you have to use a jack
No, it can be done without, just gives u more room to work with and for recording i needed the extra space
What does that mean am i supposed to tighten it that much or what ?70ft lbs torque?
Yes if u use a torque wrench set it that tight
@@backyardchevy328 what if i dont use one how can i do that?
@@Tiktok_nostalgic_Gaming well id just say if u can get an idea of how much effort it took to loosen bolt..tighten em about the same
@@backyardchevy328 ok thanks
Fuck yea now I don't gotta pay nobody, ridiculous how easy it is and I thought it was more work..😆thanks
Lol yea the rears are quite easy..the fronts a lil more work but still not that bad..but thats awesome that u get to save money🙂👍
@@backyardchevy328 hell yea appreciate you
So no jack stands needed right?I can just take them off like that??I'm about to do it right now
@@jonz2989 no, not if u dont lift it..the spring is what holds the weight of the truck, the shock absorber just absorbs and dampens the movement of the spring
