    This is exactly what I needed to hear. Like your friend, I got into PR by chance and was burnt out after gaining some experince at an agency. Quit the job and went abroad to study MBA to look for more options beyond PR. Now got the degree with acquired skills and knowledge to make a career switch. Knowing that I might have to start from the bottom again and I am getting near to 30, I am still afraid to take the new step and embrace the challenges along with it.

    Thank you Kristina for inviting your friend Sam for this video. This is one of my favorite videos because I work in a small non-profit and have been working on the communication/social media section for a little bit. The video was informative, fun, and genuine as all your other career videos are.

    Hey! Thanks for this. Do public relations require a lot of creative writing? Or is it more about organizing events?

    • @bykchoi
      @bykchoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depending on your role/whether you are in-house or at an agency/what type of agency you are at, your responsibilities might be very different! But it could include writing press releases (which is not really "creative writing") or pitch emails to media (which might require some creativity), or even blog posts (I used to write blog posts when I worked at a small fashiong PR agency). But generally it doesn't involve creative writing specifically -- more general writing/communication with media/journalists. Events-wise, it again depends on your role. When I worked at a large PR agency, some people focused on the logistics of events, while others focused on reaching out to journalists. I also have an old video all about Public Relations. Hope that helps!

    • @bykchoi

      I honestly feel like it doesn’t matter but you should try to get internships during college because that’s usually more important!

    It's quite funny and interesting how it seems that in the US what you study and what you end up doing as a job can be completly unrelated.
    In Nothern Africa where I'm from, you either get a job related to your undergrad studies or no job at all.

    • @bykchoi

      you don't need a degree to do a lot of things, but that's all part of the journey to discovering what you want to do in life :)
