- We react to a brief history of the Vedas by the TH-cam Channel Project Shivoham. Vedabhoomi - this is the name of India and for a very good reason. In this documentary, they presented all the ancient scriptures of Bhaarat in simple english. Let's watch and discuss this deep wisdom of India!
Wikipedia: The Vedas are a large body of religious texts originating in ancient India. Composed in Vedic Sanskrit, the texts constitute the oldest layer of Sanskrit literature and the oldest scriptures of Hinduism.
There are four Vedas: the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda and the Atharvaveda. Each Veda has four subdivisions - the Samhitas (mantras and benedictions), the Aranyakas (text on rituals, ceremonies, sacrifices and symbolic-sacrifices), the Brahmanas (commentaries on rituals, ceremonies and sacrifices), and the Upanishads (texts discussing meditation, philosophy and spiritual knowledge). Some scholars add a fifth category - the Upasanas (worship). The texts of the Upanishads discuss ideas akin to the heterodox sramana-traditions.

@@anjalipandey2648 u can learn sanskrit, there are private tutors which teach online, also long distance correspondence courses are available for sanskrit, i recently bought sanskrit course books from book fair to learn, i want to explore the religious texts of sanskrit thats why i am driven to learn sanskrit

You both can learn the Sanskrit Language. It's very scientific, unique and vast..! The only language which gives minimum ten synonyms for any word you choose to understand 😃
Vedas are too hard and complex to learn by own. But you can surely read Puranas as they are easy to understand. We also keep Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharat and Puranas at home and read them. Roger, as you are a Krishna devotee, I suggest you to start with Bhagavat Purana or Vishnu Purana.

I've read a few of the Puranas and I'm almost done with the Mahabharat. Even you should try reading the Puranas pertaining to the deity you like the most! Translations are available online and a few of them are also available in hard-copy. Good luck!
@@solo.108 Better to buy them from Gita Press or Motilal Banarsidass publications. But Puranas are better understood under the guidance of a realised Guru.

the best part in hinduism is we believes that everyone has a different personality and therefore everyone has a different emotions and god is nothing but a reflection of emotions(bhakti)
for e.g. a women perform different roles in life like as a daughter as a mother as a sister as a wife. she loves her father similarly she loves her husband her son also. that means love is exist in every relationship the only different thing is expression of love.
similary there are many form of god in hinduism but the feeling or bhakti remains the same.
that's why hinduism never tried to popularise in the world because no one can forcefully change the feeling or emotion of others

you should start watching "Devo ke Dev Mahadev" series, since Mahashivratri is coming up
Veda literally means 'knowledge'. Hence no one person can say I know it all. Only person in recent times who has come closer to know it better was Adi Shankaracharya. He is also considered as incarnation of Shiva as a normal human cannot comprehend it as he did. He simplified and revived it's knowledge during his time.
Vedas actually go beyond the 4 documented books. It's knowledge was passed from a Guru to disciple verbally or through recitation which has to "listened" - meaning "Shruti".
Moreover this knowledge was intercepted by Rishis and they jotted it down as they listened it without adding any personal opinions. Hence they are considered sacred and pure.
The sanskrit used in vedas cannot be fully understood by even today's sanskrit scholar since it's too cryptic.
