Never noticed how similar they are...
𝕀𝕜𝕣
Neither do i
I know right
They’re similar in ways we never noticed before!?
Bro
Seeing how relatively small this 21 year difference is compared to the 6 year difference between SM64 and SMW puts things into perspective how absolutely insanely groundbreaking SM64 felt to play back then.
FACTS! SM64 blew my mind I absolutely love bowser from that game, the newer versions of bowser are little too soft for me
Absolutely true!!
I like how they "tipped their hat" to the 64 version
💀
I love the fact you can get the polygraphic Mario 64 skin in Mario Odyssey
Do you mean low poly Mario?
@@nexustarget442 Nah, they mean polygraphic
I've seen an HD mod for Mario 64 and I'm pretty sure they just reused his Oddyssey skin for it
And also visit the "L is Real" garden, complete with all the spots where the Boos would've been at in SM64.
I know right? Such love and care from Nintendo
The graphics may be glitchy… but Super Mario 64 was one of a kind. Amazing game and still a classic I play
Ikr
I gotty say yes but that is in great part nostalgia speaking because even though i dont care ebout graphics mario oddyssey has brought me so much more fun than 64 and i didnt fully finish 64 but the controls in odyssey are far better and i really live how fast its going but if its about which one is better for the time it came out in id probably say mario 64 because it pioneered in the category and its still very fun today
@@astronomical_fivehead Mario 64 is jaring for someone who didn't play it as a kid
@@harmondraws yes i played it through out of respect for what it means in gaming history and with all due respect by todays standards its ass. It was still fun especially with the goofy graohics and controls but i wouldnt pay full price money for a game lile that. It feels more like a 5-10 dollar bootleg
@@astronomical_fivehead I've tried to play it through but I get bored
Wow they are so similar and I never noticed
I doubt I’ll ever be more blown away by a game than I was when I played Mario 64 for the first time. I was 15 when it came out and the move from a 2d to a 3d world was just insane. I can’t imagine gaming taking a leap that big now. Maybe if a truly immersive and spectacular VR game comes out soon that could possibly compare.
I'm with you, I was 12 and I swear I've never seen a bigger more significant graphical leap forward than from 2d side scrolling to 3d open adventure in that era 💯
I was also 15. I remember that I bought the game although not having the money for the console yet. And then suddenly a pricedrop was announced! Winderful times. Also loved Waverace and Goldeneye.
That feeling of slowly learning to use the control stick to move Mario around in 3D was so magical. Then you'd explore every nook and cranny. Not because you expected a reward for it. Because you COULD. These are things kids these days who grow up with 3D games on their phones will never experience.
For me it was half life with a 3dfx card that blew me aways most but mario 64 was for sure a 2nd. Especially with the analogue controls.
We need a SM64 remake
frrr it's my favorite mario game
You have it on the DS. How many remakes ungrateful gamers want?
@@pafoneto1275 You really just hop on youtube and insult people damn.

@@Phriffo like they commented on my comment on this video saying smthin dumb
Wow! I never noticed how similar they are!
Mario will never change his running style😂
Didn't realize I had to see this and I'm glad it did made me feel so much happier
Mario 64 all day that game was groundbreaking.
I heard somewhere that bobomb battlefield was supposed to have a river but was scraped, pretty cool to see it in cascade kingdom now seeing how similar they are lol
Wow I never knew they were so similar
Over 20 years apart and while both games are masterpieces…nothing comes close to the innovation found in Mario 64.
Quake 1:
its within an order of magnitude for sure. (that is a compliment to the game)@@purple781
The third person Driver and GTA games wouldn't exist without Mario 64.
@@purple781 Before Quake there was Wolfenstein 3D and Doom.
Odyssey isn't a masterpiece
It took me for a while to realize Cascade Kingdom is just Bob-Omb Battlefield but with changes
Maybe cascade kingdom is bob-omb battlefield after years and years, so it got all gross and messed up.
@@ImdefinitelynotCobaltion or bob bomb battlefield in the past
@@fireblade696 but then again, Mario Oddysey DOES take place after 64.
Every level is bobomb battlefield but with changes
Here something left.
The Mario 64 oddysey that made kaze emanuar. Its a real amazing hack rom
I have played it on Android and it's a fun hack. I have played it on Mupen64 FZ Pro
@@yaboijuanito1460 the BEST n64 android emulator
Mario64 team here :)
Thank you. This game is still better than any 3d Mario imo 👍👏
Took me 7 years to realize how similar they are
Wow 7 years... time flies
IT HAS BEEN 7 YEAR S ,??
Super Mario 64 looked like the top screen to 7yr old me in 1996
Fr Shit Was So Advanced For The Kids
Same! 😂
Throughout all my time playing Mario Odyssey, I never knew that cascade kingdom had similarities to Bob-omb Battlefield
The moving camera angle is such a simple but brilliant upgrade, helps your depth perception to a screen so much
At first I actually didn’t realize how similar the cascade kingdom really is to bob-omb battlefield.
I like the 96 version, music is better too.
What if cascade kingdom was that level just in like 30 years later like there’s a chain chomp right there. And then there’s a bridge and then at the top there’s a big place to fight a boss
Thats prob true
That’s a good theory
This actually makes sense the dirt hole in 64 is where the waterfall is at in Odyssey
Those chicken nugget goombas were the best
2017 was peak. I hope they can replicate the amazingness on the Switch successor.
Damn, never noticed this! Brilliant.
Oh man in 2026 SM64 is gonna be 30 years old.
30 years since I first played it..
It will always remain a masterpiece
I love that classic Mario 64 music though ❤
64 music feels alive
I’m so hyped for the next 3d collectathon, hopefully they go for quality over quantity of stars or whatever next time.
Bowser's Fury was their last 3D Collectathon and i heard it was great and more rewarding than odyssey's moons.
Some rumours we're spread that the next one will be open world like Fury so i think it's going to be great
@@user-fk2xg8nq6r Oh, i don't really know much about the classic Zelda games.
But what i imagine for Mario is a Rich world kinda like the Paper Mario ones, but free movement like odyssey.
And with objectives working like Bowser's Fury.
But what was there in Majora's mask that lacks on the new Zelda Games, i suppose the world was more full?
Wtf they remade the structures I never knew that, thats just awesome
Mario 64 dude, the game is a leyend
Wow the Beginning of these stages are almost identical. Even the chain chomp is there
I love how they made 64 look blurrier than it actually is
they ALWAYS do that!!!!!
Thats the native blurring filter
That’s how it looks without any upscaling on modern screens. It was 240p.
That's because you are used to looking at emulator footage. The original resolution was as you see it here.
This comment actually says a lot.
That's actually the native (non-emulator) Nintendo 64 resolution. It blended well with CRT / tube TV's, yet looks less than ideal on newer monitors. Emulators such as Project 64 did a phenomenal job at upscaling resolutions for N64 games for over 20 years
oh ! it's true that they look similar
never noticed how similar these levels are
This song should be number one so catchy ha ha
I never noticed how similar the layout was omg
I didn't realize those worlds were very similar 'til now
i didnt realize this but the jump in mario 64 is so much weightier than the one in odyssey its like wow mario is so much more fluid in odyssey
Improved engines=improved physics
Oh wow, the similarity
Súper Mario 64 was more mind blowing then that Mario oddysey
This just saved me so much money. I didn’t care for the game on 64. It’s too difficult and not user friendly controlling Mario. He goes all over the place when I want to walk a straight line. It looked familiar in the trailer I watched and couldn’t put my finger on it. Thank you so much.
The memories..........
omg i didn’t realize it was like an homage to mario 64
It’s cool how they made cascade kingdom an inspiration of bob-omb battlefield
Mario 64 for me
Beeeeeautiful comparison, i dont really NEED those improved visuals but i definitely WANT IT! ✌🏼🤓🎮
I love this! I never noticed.
I'll never forget watching my first speedrun of this game and realizing Mario can kick
Ill always love n64 mario
My man just found the biggest Easter egg ever in Nintendo!😮
The guy playing 64 really doesn't like jumping when not required
Mario 64 😉✌️
So wierd back then I remember Mario 64 looking alot smoother but with better graphics now it looks so old haha
I never noticed the homage to sm64, that’s pretty neat.
The Cascade Kingdom is future version of Bomb-omb battle field. 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
I remember getting N64 when it first came out with Mario! Can’t believe how far graphics have come.
Se ve cool la comparación 👌
Didnt even notice that
The Battle is finished
i love how there’s a way to skip the exact same chain chomp as SM64
Mario 64 gives me such heavy nostalgia .. I loved my childhood in every way but the N64 still holds some of my fondest memories
"Coincidence isn't real!"
Dang, Odyssey looks BAD ASS!
I bought a Nintendo64 with my own money when they first came out. As a kid it was so cool! Ahh memories... Mario 64 was a blast, I'd love to play it again. Time flies... I'll be 40 in less than 3 months.
Both games are my childhood
Wow! They look similar cool
I Played Odyssey once. Still play 64 on and off since 96
Took me 7 fucking years. IT TOOK ME 7 YEARS TO REALISE HOW SIMILAR THE FIRST LEVEL WAS
I used to think mario 64 looked like real life back then
The library that looks super can you make more videos
They both look so good!
lowkey this is jus prehistoric bob omb battlefield and no one noticed
Oh my god!!!!
How have I never noticed that
This will be Super Mario 64 graphics in 2019 😱
never occurred to me that they were sorta similar
64 felt like odyssey back then.
Well this clearly is a completely different “map” you can see they put a lot of effort into referencing sm64
Ok I just realized 💀
We all love the old better. Some magical about 90s games. We need more games like Mario 64 and less graphical enhancements. I personally love the old look than a realistic game
THIS GAME WAS MADE 1 YEAR BEFORE MY SISTER BORN
I’m just now realizing this 😅
Smo look like a remake of sm69
Mario odyssey is an amazing game.
I wonder if this is how the felt Mario 64 back in the day
And both were game changers.
I love SM64 (and i'm new to it), it's absolutely great platformer with deep mechanics... But man this game is so damn creepy and uncanny
U should of done sm64 odyssey
I don't blame you
Nintendo knows how to make games.
Mario Odyssey has bombomb battel field
After Super Mario 3 and Mario World i didn't give a damn anymore really
Why? Mario got old?
I never knew they were like that
the music quality is better in switch, but the music composition in SM64 is better for me
Wtf that’s The coolest thing
alot more mAp detail vs alot more goin on in the map with the old version.
I like how few actual Mario fans are in this comment section.
Well, Nintendo removed some things so it doesn't look the same, like copying a map in Mario
It's basically super Mario 64 but with raytracing
I just ordered odessy...i know its old but i wasnt gonna get old without playing it...having played sm64 when i was a kid
