Bye Bye Wasps! How To Repel Them With A Simple Solution!

  • I had a major wasp problem in my front and back yard. It was a major problem to mow and maintain my yard, but it was also hard to relax and enjoy the yard when you are constantly being dive-bombed by those things. I am not a fan of anything that isn't afraid of me, especially when they get aggressive and threaten to hurt someone for no reason. So, with a simple solution, COFFEE GROUNDS, I said Bye Bye Wasps!!! And so far, the nuisance is nowhere to be found!

    I have tried everything. All the gimmicks, chemicals, fake nests and all.the natural repellents. Wasps love them! I drink lots of coffee so i figured what the heck. Sprinkles some grounds around my deck. It took a day or two but they are gone!! I put out some fresh grounds every day or two and haven't seen a wasp in weeks! Thank you so much for this. Teri, I hope this works for you. I cannot guarantee it will be 100%, but it does seem to alleviate some of the problem. I am very much like you and hate wasps (the bees I can tolerate). The coffee grounds seem to work best when it is in a targeted location. But if you have wasps in the soffits of your house, for instance, and you put grounds in your bushes, then it doesn't work as well. Hope this helps.

      As an aside, what prompted me to do this is I was actually attacked and stung about 12 times landing in the hospital and suffering 3 weeks with awful pain and itching. This is why I took the drastic measures and killed them all. It was a kind of 'them or me' thing. ha Thanks again!

I I live in a log cabin pretty much in the woods and every morning I would love to go out on my front porch and have coffee and watch the hummingbirds come to the feeders well I went away for a few days and when I came back all of a sudden there were bees everywhere! And wasps! I never had an issue before and I've been here a few months and then just 2 days and they came out of nowhere! I've tried spearmint oil I've tried peppermint oil I've tried Dawn dish detergent and water I've tried vinegar I've tried cinnamon I've tried everything they pretty much left at me LOL I'm about to take my coffee grind right now and sprinkle them and I will let you know what happens quick question I use flavored coffee grounds like french vanilla is that going to make a difference? Does it have to be unflavored coffee grounds? Please let me know as soon as possible I am terrified of bees and wasps and I am also allergic to their stings I feel like I've been made a prisoner in my own home by these things and I want to get rid of them right now so I can go back to enjoying being outside in nature!

      Not sure about the flavored coffee, have never tried. Also keep in mind that this is more of an area deterrent. If they have a nest up high, I am not sure how effective this will be. Make sure you try to find and eliminate any nests that may be on your house as well. If you are allergic, make sure you use a professional exterminator. We just bought a house and there are a ton of hives on the porch. The pest control guy knocked a few down before closing, but it looks like they already found their way back. I plan on planting a bunch of different plants on the porch that will repel them. Marigolds, lemongrass, catnip, basil, citronella, and a few others, but we can't do it just yet.
    How far away does this repel the wasps? They are mostly building up in the corners of the wrap around porch. There isn't really anywhere up there to stick coffee grounds unless I build something to put the grounds on. If it keeps them several feet away, this might work, but if not... well back to the drawing board.

    • @TheLawnShark
      @TheLawnShark  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, you will have to get rid of the nests. Knocking them down is only temporary. From the research I have done, once you remove the nest, you have to clean the area with alcohol or something as strong because they leave behind a hormone that attracts them to come back and rebuild. I had the same issue in our air conditioning unit and during the winter months we took the unit apart, removed this giant nest, and then cleaned the area with alcohol, and they finally haven't returned this year (so far). For now I would keep a can of wasp spray handy and keep coffee grounds spread out around the areas you want to live in. Hope this helps.

The underside of the porch shouldn't get exposed to rain so it will probably last longer than if it was used on the exterior walls themselves. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm tempted. It's a bit pricey, but probably cheaper than going through a bunch of cans of wasp spray.
