I Installed The Biggest Tires I Could Fit on My Wife's Toyota 4 Runner!

  • The largest tire that the Toyota 4Runner community uses is a 31.5" or 275/55R20. I wanted to try and run a 33" tall or 275/60R20. I went into this installation knowing I was most likely going to have some clearance issues however I did not want to make any permanent or irreversible changes to the 4 Runner in order to make these tires fit. In the end, we successfully utilized the 33" tall tires on the stock Toyota 4 runner 20" rims and did not make any permanent changes to the vehicle. Follow along as I show you how to do this to your Toyota 4Runner.

Your way is probably the best solution but you could have cut that piece out and plastic welded it to the other side. Only problem is most people would butcher that piece cutting it out.😅

Good one on the inner fender mod and the speedometer is going to be just a touch off, as the wheel speed sensors are the measure. I have a 2nd gen 2013 5 lug Tacoma that I've done some performance mods to, and one of them was going from 15" x 6" steels to 18" x 9" Ford Mustang mag wheels (GT4) shod with 275/40 - 18 Nitto Invo's and no rub.

Thanks for the tire tutorial Gary! The BFG KO2’s are the ones that I want to run on my new ride too, just gonna go with the 265/70/17 on the TRD Pro wheels. 🦊
