Correction, could have and should have been but their output was minimal and they only lasted a few short years as semblance of what was the original band. Sure they are world renown but they are not Zeppelin or the stones but could have been is my point. That said Appetite is easily top 10 greatest album all time. I had the rapey robot t-shirt as a kid and my friends mom jacked it from me and threw it away :( never saw it again till I was older and didn't care to wear such things.

In my opinion it’s their best song it’s 3 minutes of punk rock that really hasn’t aged i was lucky enough to see gnr live a few times in the late 80’s early 90’s for all of their flaws they was by far the best live shows I’ve been too just their energy their stage presence the swagger that all had I miss music back then, back in those days each artist has their own thing modern music is missing that I saw the Rolling Stones last year in London and it made me bad how theirs not really been an English band get anywhere near their level rock n roll will always be alive but the decline is so sad

You bet, I was there to witness all the great music in my late teens & early 20’s. GNR took the world by storm” definitely the BIGGEST bang a band has made in my lifetime” APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION was playing in every arcade, pool hall, vehicle , home stereo & TV OUT THERE. MUCH MUSIC & MTV . still blows away anything out today. USE YOUR ILLUSION # 1 & 2 are great from start to finish. Nobody has ever released 2 double albums. 4 cd’s at once before or since. They lived up to their appetite to destruct’ just glad I witness the amazing time for music that it was. TV ,RADIO, ROCK MAGAZINES, cool rock shirts , hats & patches for our denim jackets went great with our long hair that our parents wanted cut so bad’ but we ere too cool & wanted to look & be like our favourite band members. LOL ITS FUNNY WHEN I LOOK AT OLD PHOTOS. I was a serious rocker kid looking the part & listening to hair metal🤟🤟🤟🤟

This band was absolutely the real deal in every way. A combination of the best parts of the Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols and Queen and yet still wholly original. Expert song writers with the genuine souls of rebelious poets. They absolutely did their own thing and didn't care what was happening around them. They never went mainstream....the mainstream went to them...huge difference.

I just had EVERYTHING handed to me on a silver platter. I had to leave all my friends & where I lived & loved ... cause it just got ridiculous.. you'd be hanging with new people & thinking (and them saying) "just a little weed" .. then the night/morning gets going ... & whoa baby! The Sunset strip was pretty crazy back then, a party every night out on the sidewalks, barely enough room to move.
And they we're all in a revolving door in and out of 12 step programs.
Party till you ended up in the hospital or arrested, spend 30 days in rehab, fuck like crazy in AA & NA for a few months while getting ideas on how much more you can fuck your life up, then relapse and get f'd up until you ended up back in the hospital again.
I met a lot of musicians while I was trying to stay sober in that environment.
Meh, I don't think I want to go back. Most of those people were assholes.
      Good music though!
And a LOT of REALLY bad hangovers....

@@jameslawrence1363 I was too young to get into Sundance in Bay Shore, NY to see GNR right in the beginning in 87'. I was listening from the outside. I was looking for ways to break into that club.
I was known for breaking into night clubs or talking my way into clubs underage back when I was a kid. Back doors, windows, walls, any way to get in, I would try. No dice for GNR, I couldn't get in that night. I was a little scared of that club. There were some biker types in there, you didn't want to play with. I used to get into OBI and open the door for my underage friends. Next thing you know the place has like 6 teenage boys drinking openly in the club. LOL! 🤣

This is such a unique song for the time period. It sounds nothing like what else was going on, and uses virtually none of the 80s guitar tropes that were in every song then.. it's hard to draw musical influences out of as well, even compared to most everything else on Appetite where you could hear alot more blues influences..
