This feels like I'm watching one of those old Minecraft troll videos where the trolls would only ever happen to mess with a child or someone who has severely slow reaction times.
As an actual troll level creator, I can tell you now that 98% of these are bad ideas. These would be classified under hot garbage levels, not troll levels. Good trolls are about subverting player expectation in funny and unexpected ways, not about hiding an invisible block with a required item and making them search endlessly 🙄😒.
Here's my new title for this video: "Quickest method to make a bad level in Super Mario Maker 2". Or the alternate title: "How to make abysmal levels in Super Mario Maker 2".
Troll levels are always great. Many of just just ins't trolls, but BS/trash. The same category as "pick a door" and "enemy spam". Has nothing to do with trolling
- Make the player run to the end of a long conveyor belt section to hit an on/off switch. Then, when they run back, have 2 giant munchers on the track playing the Sunshine theme. When the player is almost at the end awaiting their death, a P-switch stops the belt and the wall blows up, allowing them to escape. - Have the player jump down into a hallway with a sideways thwomp with a parachute. When they try and jump out, there are invisible blocks with POW blocks inside, killing the thwomp. - Make the player go into a pipe after they've seen the goal, then put them back at CP1. When they go into what they think is the same door they went into earlier, it's actually a different one that leads them to the end. ...I could go on for quite a while, but don't want to spoil my levels.

Just a little heads up: if anyone is looking for idea for a troll level DONT use most of the ones in this video. They will make your level absolute hot garbage.
I believe people have mixed ideas of what a troll level is, more specifically when compared to trash levels, random keys no one can find is trash, no suprise, but take mushroom and hidden bounce platform troll for one and it makes for a genuinely good troll, mainly because from failing you can learn a bit about how to progress through the level and most of the time, these trolls are one time traps which you wont fall for a second time.
Heres one Put a mushroom on a track and make a goombas fall on the track right behind it or just anything you won't be able to see behind the mushroom Or invisible block at the top of vine Or make them think there's a Lazio block but there's not and by jumping over a little to hit the block it reveals a wall of red cannons

A couple of these are pretty funny (particularly the one where the shell despawns offscreen, causing the switch to stop switching) but most of these are just terrible and annoying.
Toadw1 yes I see your point, and yes some of them were more complicated than the others but they still worked just as good or even better as others. Just don’t go saying that it’s a big bowl of crap cause it’s not
If you want to create your own troll levels, I recommend staying away from an invisible blocks and thwomps, just overused and usually crappy trolls. However, if you have a unique idea with them, then by all means try that
put an invisible block with a key in it, and set it on the ground near the beginning. Make the player play the whole level, and give them a Super Leaf without knowing, because you can open Hidden Blocks from the side with tail

You think that’s bad? My level has a clear condition of collect all the coins. The only way to obtain coins in that level is to hit hidden blocks.
Put a series of clouds in the saws, and make some of them have a note block instead of a cloud
