A few years back I purchased a set of Michelin wiper blades and to my amazement ,they have been the best blades I've ever had. I also wanted to say that the fact that you use "vise grips " to work on your Ferrari earns the highest respect I have! Lol! Love your videos!
Dan, 3M 5200(Marine) for fixing the tub bottom. It comes in colors and will harden more than than the tub material and seals below the waterline. If you use JB Weld Marine, it is white vs regular/gray.
I’ve tried a bunch of different wiper blades on my Ferrari, the oem blades were the only ones that didn’t suck. Aftermarket attachment piece either seemed to sit too high into the airflow or they squeaked. The oem if you put the little wing pointed down on the drivers side works great at high speeds (in Mexico of course). The blade prices were reasonable if you didn’t buy from the dealer. About $100, sure much more than an everyday car but you don’t change them as often.
We all do, keep em coming I’m really enjoying the vids, turning me slowly from my 911 to a 458, but prices are rising in the UK maybe have to settle for a nice 430.
A classic Dan diy video! Great job. Not sure what's been happening with rain x and even Bosch wipers. They've been horrible quality lately on three different cars I have. Disappointing because they're not cheap.
Dan, any chance you have the details on the proper rivets to use? Part number or web link would be awesome. Going to be tackling this project shortly and would like to have everything ready when I start. Thanks for doing the video.
Hi Dan, another question. I have a 15 Spider and it looks like it has 2 hex screws mouting the strap down... Did you strip your hex head screws and that is why you had to take everything all apart? Or your year does not have the screws (or they are not actually hex head screws I am seeing, sorry I am confused here)?
Mine were rivets. I think they all had rivets from the factory but I could be wrong. It's possible your were already replaced? Or it's possible they switched to hex screws later on.
For wipers i tend to use Michelin for years, never seen that brand you bought but the reviews are good. The best way for rivets is just drill the head out and done lol
Should’ve done what Jay Leno does when he needs leather straps for one of his Bugatti’s he goes to a horse ranch or a bridle shop to have new leather straps made
I am setting my sights on a F8 Tributo in the very near future. I would love your thoughts on it because I have seen TH-cam videos of people saying it's a rip off because it's made cheap. I do love the car overall and like the looks of it. Especially the rear that sets it a little bit apart from the others. I do know that Brooks from Drag times had one but didn't drive it too long. On the other hand he is more a McLaren guy
Dear Dan, You are not a regular DIY now! YOU ARE " UTUBE CERTIFIED " !!!! No more impro shortcut The tub needed to come out final >>>> LOLLL All the best my friend ;0)
If the straps are known to fail and you have to redo the straps time and time again, would it not be a good idea to use rivnuts that way you just unscrew the bolts to replace the strap, rather than removing the tub and drilling out the rivets time and time again - like your exhaust valve issue on your f430
Same. After decades of using the brands you mentioned, I found the OEM option seems to work better. As a bonus, it’s much cheaper buying just the insert rather than having to buy the entire assembly.
Happy Weekend Daniel. Please pass on Happy Mother's Day Greetings To Megan. Looking forward to seeing Megan reviews of Her Car. Stay Safe. Wishing All At Home Good Health. Cheers Carlyle
Carey, I’m thinking about spec’ing my GTS in Rossa Fiorano. Is that the color of your 458? Are you still happy with it? I want a color that’s different not than the Corsa, TDF Blue, etc that all 812’s seem to be
@@Stentordoc Mine is Rosso Fuoco. I am so happy with it it’s hard to describe! I always thought I would purchase RC, but I saw a F12 in Rosso Berlinetta in TX and that made me want something different than the usual corsa. I wanted something unusual but not what I would call an “odd” color. The Rosso Fuoco, Fiorano, and Berlinetta were all colors that were close and exactly what I wanted. It’s glorious in the sun. It makes me smile every time I drive it and look over at the sun hitting the door mirror and it shows a bright strawberry red color! Do it!
@@RevmasterofIN Fuoco is my dream color, but 30k for a triple layer paint is steep; I’d rather spec a few more carbon fiber bits. I hope you’re getting in some glorious miles now that warmer weather is here!
On my 458 both of the straps broke. I had them replaced. My dealership said for this the tub has to get out. The items they are supposed to hold are way too heavy for them. So my new straps will remain empty. I store their items elsewhere. The flat tire system for example I store at home. I'd rather call the towing service than ruin my rims with that foam. But it is easy for me to say because here in Germany help is never far away. We are 82 million people packed into a place with half the size of Texas. No kidding. I don't know if you can risk being on the road in the US without that kind of first aid kit.
I had to do the same on my 360. The leather straps don’t appear to be leather so fell apart. I took the old straps to a saddle maker who made new ones using the original buckles etc.
From someone who has drilled out his fair share of rivets as an aircraft technician, I would drill out the rivet first, then using a larger bit to remove the head. Easy Peasy!
@@normalguysupercar Gotcha , everytime I want to fix something I'm getting from disaster into another disaster it seems , I thought well I'm not the only one who is having this problem and made me feel a little better.😉
Also no need to waggle the rivet gun to snap off the pins just keep pumping the handles till they snap out. That will leave a hollow fixed rivet. For a tidy job I’d re do those ones
Never seen anyone use a hammer and chisel on a pop rivet before 😄. Use a bigger drill bit to remove the head then poke the remains out, do one then put in the new rivet before drilling the second. Would have saved taking the rub out 👍
You need to remove the tub. There is plates that go on the rear side for the rivet to hold to. Also there is wiring back there that you can possibly drill into. #hack
CNC customers do not have to worry about the straps since Clay removes the tools prior to selling 🤣😄🤣
Oh snap

Dan ... mate you just need to use a drill bit slightly larger than the head of the rivets to get them out. No pliers or hammers required. 👍👍

Dan, have you ever heard of Velcro. Seems like there are easier ways to solve your strap problem!
Funny enough the back of the air compressor kit has velcro on it too!
Morning Dan , Meg and Mo ✌️🙏

I don't recall. This was years ago
I gave up replacing the straps in my 458 , as they regularly tear off 😅
Good video as always 👍
Are those Akro-Mils organizational bins on your garage wall?
I have no idea
Hi Dan, try Nufinish polish on the windshield, should solve that problem.
Also actual OEM ones are the same exact one that comes on Toyota Lexus’s.
Where do you find replacement straps? Need this for the f430
I think ricambi has them
@@normalguysupercar You’re in Texas... I can’t imagine there isn’t a saddle shop that can’t match the leather and reuse the old buckles. Giddy up.

I found out the hard way years ago, it’s a good idea to put a towel or something under the wiper arms on the windshield.

Yeah I considered the insert as well
Weird the rain x fell apart, how old were they. That all I use due to their longevity, 1 yr and 40k miles usually unless it’s an icy winter.
They were about 1 year old
Next. Time use a rivet nut. If it breaks again you just have to unscrew the bolt that holds the strap.

Hey dan. Use flex seal. It will seal it easy..
Duct tape!
