- A United Airlines flight from IAH to LaGuardia caught the moment a fire took place during takeoff. The FAA said in a statement, "The crew of United Airlines Flight 1382 safely aborted its takeoff from the George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport in Texas due to a reported engine issue around 8:35 a.m. local time on Sunday, Feb. 2. Passengers deplaned on the runway and were bused to the terminal. The Airbus A319 was flying to LaGuardia Airport in New York. The FAA will investigate. Contact the airline for additional information."
Video shared by FOX 26 showed flight attendants asking for passengers to stay in their seats. "No, it's on fire!" one of the passengers can be heard saying in the background.
Houston Fire said they did not have to put out a fire in connection to the incident. Posting on X, "HFD did not put out a fire on this incident."
United Airlines Statement:
"During takeoff, United flight 1382 received an indication about one engine and halted the takeoff while still on the runway. Passengers deplaned on the runway via a combination of slides and stairs and were bused to the terminal. There are no reported injuries at this time. We have lined up a
different aircraft to take customers to their destination at 12:30 p.m. CT."

All of the sudden a 15 hour drive doesn’t sound so bad
I get it, it feels safer to be in your car. You feel more in control.
Put it in perspective.
About 100 people die in car crashes each day in the USA. About 40000 a year.
About 300 or so people died in the WORLD in 2024 from plane crashes.
The biggest number coming from that horrible Korean accident.
Stats show it is safer to fly and will continue that way.
Our biggest fear is having no control if something bad happens on a flight.
I can only imagine the horror that would feel like.
Stay safe stay vigilant
i get you're joking but driving a car (especially in the US lol) is way way more dangerous than flying on a plane

No, there are on average 1200 aviation incidents per year. MSM is going to report everyone of them since the DC crash to get people to watch. Happened with the Haz Mat train incident in Palestine, Ohio.
It may not be a big greedy corporation issue, but rather an alternate form of making people feel uncomfortable strategy by people who don't like us. There are thousands and thousands of airplanes flying right now. Out of all of those there was a deadly collision and a private non-airline jet crash. Now an incident, not an accident happens with no injuries. It's still the safest way to travel. You have more of a chance of being in a car accident than an airplane crash. The Helicopter flew into an Airliner that was locked on target to the runway following normal operations. While absolutely gut-wrenching tragic, there were thousands of other airplanes flying. I've been a flight attendant for over 25 years. Ive ever only had 1 close call and never an emergency which caused the plane any damage. Don't let fear stop you from flying.
Very true! But for someone who is terrified of flying, and I am in Australia, the chances of being in the right place at the wrong time is getting to be a greater chance.
@@dianne-dg6yuI agree
All flights need to be held until proper maintenance is done to all planes and has passed new inspections. I'm seeing way too many maintenance problems on the tarmac these days.
Last year was a horrible year for aviation in the US. The media just found a way to make money of all these small things now. If this was on purpose, wouldnt it be smarter to make it start buring in the air. As a former airport employe, this is stuff we are trained to deal with. It is a reason there always are TWO people during every pushback (departure). One to drive the car and one in communication with the pilots in the cockpit incase this happens. So.. stop spreading fear
For whatever reason, there do seem to be degrading maintenance standards.
@ 200.000 commercial flights a day in the world. So, it might seem that way, but there is no proof of that
What’s “way too many”?
They do. This is one flight out of 25 thousand a day. Ugh you jellyfish crack
3 planes and a helicopter in a week. That’s just about cured me of ever wanting to fly again

7 accidents between in Dec an jan only
planes falling apart, falling from the sky, burning up before take off and engine loss during mid flights. near misses, and mid air collision...is flying actually still safer than driving ?
Sadly enough, yes it is, as we have traffic accidents and death's on a daily basis. And, sadly enough, if people were to put down their Damn phone and pay attention to the roads, instead of their phones, it will at least cut the accidents and even death's in half, instantly...
LOOK UP HOW MANY PLANES CRASHED IN 2024
Not in America apparently.
What do you expect when you get rid of an regulations lmao
It absolutely is
IM SO SCARED TO FLY NOW I THOUGHT PLANES WERE SAFER THEN CARS
Statistically it's still the safest way to travel. How many people died in a car accident today but are you afraid everytime you get into a car?
They 100 percent are...but the control aspect is 0....in a car you can't prevent all accidents but you can some in a plane only the pilots have control....ill never fly again..
Comparing plane crashes and car crashes is unfair since there is more cars than planes and one doesnt have obstacles and the other does.
Start praying America!
I think these incidents show it is too late!! PRAT for yourself and Family!!

Why are people still flying, do they not get it yet?
Does anyone think it's possibly the greed of the corporations or owners of some of these larger planes not maintaining the integrity of the mechanics getting properly inspected?
Sure. Of course, if that gets proved they will possibly go to jail.
uh yeah. you know they are barely maintaining these planes and/or ignoring safety issues for as long as possible. we've seen it before after plane crashes that warnings were ignored and led to the crash. I'd be very fearful of flying right now or in the future.

It happens more than you think. They are just reporting them this week
At least they stopped this one before any deaths.
They wouldn’t have been any deaths. Ugh….read about how these engine are designed to contain fires.
Stuff like this happens more often than people think but due to the Two plane crashes which are very rare now everything plane related is being highlighted
This was happening at airports across the country before 2025. Multiple flights got grounded at HIA in Pennsylvania b/c of malfunctions. Allegiant Airlines had the most delays and grounded flights b/c of engine malfunctions. Engine issues are only getting attention now b/c of the “accident” in D.C.
Exactly, and if there was no video of the DC and Phily events they would have been replaced in the news much sooner.

If every car crash was on the news you'd never get in a car either. They are far more dangerous.
I hate when people use the “there are far more car accidents than plane crashes”. Yea, but your chances of surviving a car crash are FAR greater than surviving a plane crash. Careening from the sky is a terrifying thought but getting in my car gives me a little bit more control (to an extent of course).
@@JosephSterlea car I control. I do my own maintenance correctly. I can react and account for external factors. None of the that is possible on a plane.
