Well since you brought up politics, here are some facts for you, because of DEI only 1 percent of Towers in the US are fully staffed yes 1 percent let that sink in. Democrats want to hire people with mental psychological issues, Mental issues, dwarfism and other physical issues for a job so mentally exhausting and difficult that it shortens your life expectancy by 10 to 20 years. And you want to hire people already with health issues. The DC plane crash only had 19 people in the tower and need 30 and one decided to leave work early 15 minutes before the crash. Because of DEI they have and do reject applicants that are white and score 100 percent on their test. There is current lawsuits for discriminating against whites that have high scores. The list could go on much further..

@@kraig6043 what does firing DEI have to do with something that happens regularly in Alaska? It's always been happening. The media is just reporting it now because of what happened in DC. There are so many channels on TH-cam about aviation disasters and they are never short of content. Small planes crash all the time. ATC has nothing to do with this crash in Alaska. He was communicating with them just fine before the plane disappeared. This was due to bad weather not Trump. And I'm not sure if you misunderstood me. I did some research on aviation accidents after the medical lear crash. I don't know what the political agendas are up to, but we haven't actually had anymore accidents or fatalities than we have in recent years. The lear crash was odd news in that it involved a lot of ground people, and the DC crash had some notable athletes, but otherwise there isn't actually anything out of the ordinary. There are a few different conclusions one can come to, so do with that information whatever you will.

@Blackswan5 I've worked the Deadhorse strip many winters in the 80s. The drifts appear/disappear in minutes... not hours. Something as small as a bottlecap can affect the wind/snow flow so much as to cause a magic snowbank to appear in the blink of an eye. Compounding matters is you often cannot see a bank/berm until you hit it.

Best guess right now, icing or stall. All I’ve heard today was “rapid loss of altitude and airspeed” both wings were on the plane so doesn’t look structural.. if it was an engine out they still would’ve been able to glide. This tells me the plane lost lift and dropped fast.
Also, everyone… plane crashes in Alaska is nothing new. This has nothing to do with Trump or policies. Planes in Arctic weather just comes with risk. The only reason this is on Fox is because the recent mid Air brought ALOT of attention to aviation. Yes it’s sad, we try and learn from our mistakes, but don’t let this make you fearful of flying. It’s just the current media cycle.

It appears to have been a flat spin stall, as the wings, tail and fuselage are all in a concentrated area. The plane had slowed to around 130 mph, which could have been caused by icing on the propeller. Flying in Alaska is very tricky, especially at an altitude where icing is known to be very common.

The media latches on to it and all of a sudden aviation falsely "sounds" dangerous. It's not!! Considering the thousands of flights that are safely flown everyday the odds of being in an accident are minuscule. People die in auto accidents every single day...yet everyone still gets in their car and drives. When people say they aren't going to fly based on recent events thats pure emotion and zero logic.
